Chapter 103
I stared intently at the screen.
One photo showed the side of Jack and me at the concert.
The other captured us leaving, his arm seemingly draped around my shoulder from behind.
Seeing the second photo, I suddenly understood why I had barely been bumped into after almost falling that day.
It turned out Jackâs hand had been protecting me from behindâ¦
I didnât know to laugh or cry. âThis personâs imagination and logical reasoning skills are quite impressive.â
âJack is so attentive to you, no wonder people are speculating.â Jane remarked, âIn my opinion, heâs more reliable than Ryan.â
âDonât talk nonsense.â I took a sip of hot tea. âHe has someone he likes, and heâs liked her for many years.â
âWho does he like? Why hasnât he brought her out for us to see?â
âI donât know. I guess when he succeeds in pursuing her, heâll bring her out.â
I kept silent about Jack liking someone who was already married.
After all, it was his privacy, and it was somewhat⦠unethical. The fewer people who knew, the better.
Jane pursed her lips. âI actually thought you two were quite suitable. Turns out I was mistaken.â
âJane, Iâm still married. If youâre worried, at least wait until after my divorce, okay?â I chuckled.
âAlright, alright.â
Jane buried herself in eating, and after finishing our meal, she dragged me downstairs to shop. It was to help us digest.
While on the escalator, we noticed a crowd gathered outside a boutique.
Jane liked to join in the fun, so she pulled me over and casually asked a male onlooker, âHey handsome, what are you all looking at here?â
The man was momentarily stunned by Janeâs beauty, and enthusiastically replied, âThereâs a customer at this boutique, apparently sheâs pregnant, insisting on buying a bag that someone else had already preâordered.â
âIsnât that odd?â

After thanking him, Jane leaned in to peek at the boutique counter. Soon, a familiar voice rang out. âIf you donât know who I am, fine. But donât you know the Frost family in Jelaston? Tell me who ordered this bag, and Iâll contact her
The womanâs voice was clear and gentle, yet carried a hint of domineering superiority.
âOh no, sheâs still lingering around.â
Jane also spotted her, looking disgruntled. âForget it, letâs go. Nothing good comes from running into her.â
âYeah.â
I didnât want to get involved with Jessica again.
I immediately turned to leave, but unexpectedly, Jessica happened to look in our direction and called out, âCharlotte?â
Before I could respond, she ran towards us. She didnât look like a pregnant woman anymore, and she didnât even want the bag anymore. She caught up and grabbed my arm.
âWhy are you running? What did you say to Ryan? Heâs not answering my calls now.â
I was rendered speechless.
I sighed, feeling a headache. âAs husband and wife, we talk about a lot of things. What are you referring to?â
âYou know what I mean.â She persisted. âIf you werenât guilty, why would you be in a hurry to leave?â
Jane was speechless. âJessica, we just think youâre bad luck.â
âYou call Ryan right now. I have to reach him today!â Jessica commanded imperiously.
I felt annoyed. âIf you want to contact him, contact him yourself.â
With that, I tried to free myself from her grip.
But suddenly, as if she had gone mad, she exerted all her strength and dragged me towards the busy street outside. âIf you donât call him, we can die together!â
