ã12345, you have failed your internship. You will have to repeat it again.ã
The words of its mentors echoed in its ears. System 12345 felt like breaking down.
ãWhy did this happen?ã
ãI am a Romance Conquest System! Why is my host a berserker who wants to chop everything down? He actually killed all of the capture targets before escaping!ã
ãOther than my screen going black, the failed installation of the language package, the occasional program hangs, the coding errors, and the high latency... I think I have done decently on everything else.ã
System 12345 felt exhausted. It headed to a group filled with many other Systems, hoping to find consolation.
As soon as it slipped in, it saw the other Systems chatting excitedly among themselves.
ãFellow Systems, I have piping hot tea!ã
ãA new idiot had popped up in our Romance Faculty! Not only did it score a negative in its internship, but it even caused huge damage to the internship ground! The consciousness of the world even complained all the way to the faculty, and our teachers barely placated it.ã
That news stirred up a storm in the Systems chatroom.
ãNegative? I donât get it. How does anyone do that?ã
ãWhat the hell! I mean, you wonât get a negative even if you submit a blank paper!ã
ãWhose student is that?ã
Woah, thereâs such interesting news? System 12345 quickly joined the conversation.
ãEhhh! Something that interesting actually happened? Does anyone have more information?ã
ã...ã
The chatroom seemed to stall to a halt the moment System 12345 joined the conversation.
ãYou are... 12345?ã One of the Systems asked.
ãI am.ã
System 12345 was confused by that question.
ãAre you sure you are 12345 and not l2345?ã
ãAre you sure you are 12345 and not 1234S?ã
ãAre you sure you are 12345 and not 123A5ã
Such spams appeared in the chatroom.
ãI am 12345! Is someone else impersonating me?ã
System 12345 was slowly beginning to lose its temper.
ãThat System before, I know who youâre talking about now.ã
ãIndeed, it wouldnât be surprising if itâs 12345.ã
ãNot surprising +1ã
ãNot surprising +2ã
Some Systems started to probe deeper.
ã12345, why havenât you quit school yet?ã
System 12345 was perplexed.
ãWhy would I quit school?ã
ã...I mean, just that CPUâresults of yours, why in the world is the school still keeping you?ã
System 12345 stomped its leg in anger.
ãYouâre doubting my result? I cleared all my modules!ã
ãAh?ã
ãWhatâs with that response? Is it that surprising?ã
Surprisingly, some other Systems started to vouch for that.
ãFellow Systems, I just checked 12345âs results. It scored at least 60 for all its modules.ã
ãHmph! You see that? How dare you look down on me!ã
System 12345 smirked in glee upon seeing someone vouch for it.
ãSuch a mentor really exists? He really is... Iâm about to laugh myself to death.ã
ãLaughing myself to death +1ã
ãLaughing myself to death +2ã
ãDamn it. If my mentor was like that too, I wouldnât have ended up like that!!!ã
ãTotally agreed.ã
ã???ã
ãWhatâs wrong, senior?ã System 12345 nervously asked upon seeing the question marks.
ãAhhh....ã
A sigh could be heard even across the screen.
ãItâs nothing, Iâm just amazed. Speaking of which, which step are you stuck at?ã System 1915 asked while browsing the internship report.
ãAre you stuck on the difficulty or...ã
ãHmm...ã
System 12345 earnestly thought about the matter before replying.
ãIâm stuck on the installation.ã
ã...ã
System 1915 fell silent, but moments later...
ãHuh? This pile of... code, you wrote it?ã
ãThatâs right. Is something wrong?ã System 12345 nodded.
System 1915 was rendered speechless.
ãYou obviously didnât write it! You stole it from our mentorâs database!!!ã
System 1915 felt light-headed.
A System was its hostâs cheat; the more capable a System was, the stronger the hostâs cheat. However, ever since their faculty started bringing in more juniors, it felt like Systems had been going on a downward spiral.
There were a number of Systems who couldnât offer real-time help to their hosts and had to rely on another cheat code to offer help.
To draw an analogy, if the past chefs were veteran chefs, most of the Systems nowadays only knew how to garnish the dishes.
Their mentor must have been worried sick about System 12345.
By right, the Systems had to design and develop their own cheat code for their internship, and the mentors could only provide guidance from the side, but their mentor actually opened up its database for System 12345 to refer to.
In the database were many fully-developed cheat codes, so System 12345 could easily copy one on the go. While most young Systems were making wheelchairs, their mentor gave System 12345 a couple of Ferrari parts to zoom ahead.
Strictly speaking, this was considered cheating!
Yet, System 12345 was able to screw it up despite cheating. It took those Ferrari parts and assembled them together, and the final result was a tank. What made it even more ridiculous was that this tankâs gas pedal, brakes, and steering wheel were all nowhere to be seen!
God knows who even has the authority to run the cheat code?!
ãArenât you a Romance Conquest System? What are you developing with your cheat code?ã
System 1915 couldnât comprehend what was going on..
ãThere shouldnât be a mistake with my cheat code, no?ã
System 12345 was confused.
ãOur mentor said that it would be best to give my host a cheat heâs familiar with, so that itâs easier for him to get the hang of it. So, I designed a cheat code based on the game that my host is the most familiar with.ã
ãIsnât Beacons of the Otherworld dubbed to be a fully immersive adventure game thatâs the romance of all men, promising all sorts of battle sequences, strategies, survival... Itâs related to romance.ã
ã...ã
System 1915 fell silent.
It turns out that you canât even read! Forget it, forget it. I need to calm down.
ãFor now, Iâll help you fix your cheat code. The codes in our mentorâs database are very high level, and you have made a mess of the codes, so I canât promise that Iâll be able to fix it well. I can only try my best. ã
System 1915 decided to solve the matter a step at a time.
System 12345 felt wronged.
ãI almost succeeded. I only needed half a year more. But my host suddenly ran away! I lost my happy ending just like that!ã
ãHuh?!ã
System 1915 was horrified.
ãHold on, your host escaped?! What is happening on your side?!ã
System 1915 took a closer look at System 12345âs internship report, and it couldnât remain calm anymore.
ãThere was a language barrier, and you couldnât fix the issue? Why canât you choose a world that speaks the same language as our host?ã
ãYou made a Roman fanatic transmigrate into a Roman-like world, and his capture targets are in the enemy camp... No wonder he went around cutting people down!ã
ãYou used red lights to indicate mission targets? Is that how you guide someone?! More like youâre guiding your host to kill off his capture targets!ã
Fuck! This isnât even about the mistakes it made in its internship. More like its entire existence is a mistake!
In the end, System 1915 concluded...
ãI have spent my life being kind and accruing good karma. I have worked tirelessly to help my mentor complete his project and aid my juniors with their internships, but why must such a crisis befall me? What have I done so wrong?!ã
