Violet Light

Taking Spirits Beyond2,500 words~13 min read

The morning drifted into light as my eyes opened; with Satsu gone and I was the only one in the tent. I looked around inside for Satsu until lady Kita came in and she told me that he was up tending the garden. I walked outside to the garden where I saw Satsu watering plants with an object that had went down from his shoulder and a bucket with a long spout to let the water sprinkle on the plants.

"Good morning- I just thought I would help a little around here until we leave." He watered the plants slowly as I stood there standing by his side. I thought for a moment of everything that had happened; with Utma and Kusubata, the spirit house, the water spirit, and the voice. The one voice that had called me into this world. The voice that had lured me here into this demension full of spirits. What was this for me to learn? What did I come here for? And I had immediately thought of Satsu.

I came here to help him, his family, the spirit house. I had discovered and thought of all of the possibilities and the true meaning of why I was here. I'm satisfied with my own answer; yet I still wasn't sure why I am here. It is all too much like a elaborate dream; only the one dream that I could have ever thought of. I am always in current wonder of Satsu. Who is he? What could he possibly mean to me? All of these questions have been in my mind frivolously. I looked at him with tenderness; he accepts my kind passion towards him. Yet there is a look in his eyes. Sadness, overbearing sadness that he or I cannot control. I always have this heart beating desire to help him. I try with all of my might; he says that he helps me to get back to my own world yet I feel as if I am the one who insists on helping him. Why is there so much thinking and thoughts inside of my own mind? Why am I always in constant worrying of Satsu? I had just met him yet it feels as if I've known him for years. My mind is covered with endless thoughts of him. I never seem to speak without saying his name at least once. I am in absolute congression of the need to help him. Yet in a sense; as a helpless boy he refuses. A boy who is completely lost inside his own solemn way of thinking... His very own deep and dark demension he refuses to find a way out.

I am always standing by his side; we speak yet there are still so much he won't tell me. He covers up his feelings with quietness with no silence. Words that are used in the wrong way as he explains. I feel as if I am crying out to him; reaching my arms out towards him... Wanting to tell him that it will be alright. It will be okay; and everything will be fine. I want to see the glistening warmth back in Satsus eyes the night we had looked at the stars- the day when we had helped the spirit and the day when we had felt free. I wanted to no longer run away or find a way back home. All I wanted was to see Satsu happy again. He had become the light of the sun that had faded away behind the clouds for endless centuries of a lost world.

I had thought of everything up until now. Satsu and I watered the plants in silence as my thoughts raged within my head. His eyes had no light; his posture was hunching over with gloom, his spirit was crying out to me. I wanted to help him. Yet there is something that is stuck between us; a barrier where no feelings or explanation can win over Satsus sadness.

Satsu watered the last plant; he looked up and said that we should head out. I faintly nodded; and the two of us walked out of the garden and past Lady Kitas tent. She saw us as we were leaving.

"Ah- so soon?" Her voice had a sense of sadness and knowing that we had been leaving.

"I'm afraid so." Satsu called out. Lady Kita walked up to us as children began to surround us with curiosity with a beckoning sensation of love. Lady Kita held out her hand; and they were round beads with little berries.

"Please take these. Take only one a day when your pathways get darkened." Lady Kita insisted as Satsu had almost refused; then taking the beads and the berries into his pocket giving up with politeness.

"The beads are for more power for Eyras magatama beads. Yet there are a little extra for Satsu. Take good care of them; and use them wisely." Lady Kita had informed us as the children hugged our legs; and then we were gone. We didn't look back, yet I heard a sniffling sound come from Lady Kita and the children. They had seemed to have started taking a liking to Satsu and I.

The leaves were had become grossed with dew; and the air was fresh as we walked on a single pathway upwards the hill into the large band of trees into the forest. Satsu walked taking large steps; as his eyes were stuck to the dirt pathway. I walked beside him never thinking of making a sound. His coughing had begun to go away; he still had looked not sick, yet it seemed as if the mood was beginning to make everything an never ending gloom. Yet I believed, no matter how bad or how everything can become an endless deep and dark hole that you cannot climb out of; always be thankful that you are alive and someone out there cares about you.

I held out my hand... And suddenly I held onto Satsus. His shoulders twitched and jerked a bit as I had done so; and then he looked over into my eyes and shrugged it off.

"I just want you to know..." I tried to explain and then I finally had managed to get the words out; "Please Satsu... Know that I care. And I will always, always, care."

His eyes widened. He stopped and looked out into the open of the pathway that was in front of us.

He looked from the floor and over at me.

"I know. You say it to me... All the time."

I smiled. We continued to walk down the pathway. I didn't care for being embarrassed or thinking of holding his hand was wrong. It was for our energy to transfer through us as our hands touched. I was in absolute peace; the trees stood out into the open and Satsu seemed calmer. He had always been calm; yet it was his silence that was screaming with uncontrollable emotion.

The sky was beginning to darken; and I let go of Satsus hand as the pathway was almost coming out to a clearing. The hem of my dress wavered as the wind was starting to pick up. A wave of dust brushed against our feet.

"I sense something." Satsu purred with an upcoming growl of his tone of voice as he spoke; I began to pant heavily as I felt even more nervous.

"I'm sure that your not the only one who is sensing something." I added.

Satsu leaned his back against mine.

"Don't move an inch." He whispered fiercely. His protective side was beginning to show; I looked up at the night sky as there where light waves of violet. Something was here that was creating this light.

Slowly after a moment of standing still; the branches of the trees waved as the leaves whipped back in forth in the night sky with the faint light of violet. Satsu was beginning to become more of not knowing what to do next. He pulled me by him; protecting every part of me that he could.

Until little specs of violet light were beginning to show on the tips of the leaves. The leaves stood upwards; as if something was pulling the leaves up towards the sky. Slowly the violet light was beginning to become more brighter. Satsu was helplessly lost; as I was panicking.

"Spirits are here. Good or evil; I do not know. Face us you beings!" Satsu called out with a sudden outburst if bravery. I had never seen this side of him before. Slowly the light started to wave madly in flume; and then a figure had emerged from the darkness.

"Young sense of a spirit," said the figure. "For I have come to you and found you."

"Yes you have found me." Replied Satsu.

"Yes I have." Answered the voice.

"What for?" Asked Satsu. He was becoming more impatient.

"The gods have sent a request on your behalf." Answered the voice. Satsu shifted in confusement.

"What for?"

"That is not for me to speak. And for the human girl..." The figure spoke about me; figuring out what he should do about me.

"The gods would like to speak to her as well." The voice had decided.

Satsu had a reluctance coming from him; yet we were forced to obey the figure. Satsu took my hand and we walked towards whoever it may be; not looking back.

"It will not be for long." The voice answered our thoughts.

The figure was another spirit. He lured us into a chariot; and we flew upwards into the sky. I held onto Satsu and I didn't let go. The chariot flew higher each time the spirit looked up at the sky. Soon we were past the mist of the clouds and we were up higher than we could ever dream of reaching.

A palace outstretched on top of large beds of clouds; the palace was colored with colors I could not name. We walked into an opening of the palace as our feet floated above the surface. We went on inside following the spirit as he had led us in. I took a deep breath before we walked in; since I felt as if I needed more air in my lungs to breathe. t was deathly quiet; the silence was nearly to hard to break. I tried not to breathe for the air out of my lungs would break a vase. Until the spirit bowed as we walked into a large corridor; and he left. I looked over at Satsu with my eyes completely lost. Until lights of lanterns beside the walls randomly lit themselves. The room was now lit with light; we could actually see what was around us.

Two figures emerged from large chairs. A woman walked towards us as the man stood back. Her hair was long; colored deep black and her cheeks were rosy. She moved slowly with her long dress, layers of fabric were worn. She smiled.

"I see that your father is upset." She observed.

Satsu looked down at his feet yet he nodded. The woman chuckled a bit as she held her hand against her mouth.

"He's supposed to be watching out for the spirits of the lands. Not having an emotional crisis. Satsu I am sure that you know better than to just run away." She was still slightly serious; yet her tone showed that she wasn't too overtaken by the ridicule of Kusubatas actions. Satsu faintly spoke from his mouth.

"I know." He said.

The woman showed us a sly grin in the corner of her mouth; her perfectly poised lips. She looked down at her hand; she was holding a mirror where images were shown. She looked down at her mirror and her eyebrows rose; and then held out the mirror for Satsu to see. His expression had showed terror.

Flames were in raving flume as the mirror was nearly beginning to crack itself. The woman from what I could deduce from her; she was insulted. Kusubata was making the worst decisions of his life. And it all was because of an emotion; anger. Satsu trembled in his shoes; the light of his face was completely out and gone. He looked as if he seen his death; all of this that had happened shook his mind with absolute fear and possessive thoughts of his own mind. The woman faintly pulled the mirror away and slipped it in her own pocket.

"Satsu, we do believe that you are burdened with magnificence and power. You have been born into an unlikely family. And from this day on; I am sure, quite sure, that you are destined for greatness. Yet today is not that day to prove your self worth in that matter; but to prove yourself worthy from this day on." She explained.

Satsu looked at her in complete reverberation of surprise. What did she mean by this? Was Satsu meant for more, far more than he had hoped? I knew inside that Satsu was destined for amazing things. And he is in the final moments of finding out for himself.

The woman held out her hand towards Satsu and touched the back of his hand with the tip of her finger. She chanted words as light shown from between them; and she closed her eyes as the room was becoming with uncontrollable wind; the light grew brighter. I looked down at my magatama beads and noticed that they were glowing with the light. Soon the light from Satsu stretched its rays into mine. And soon Satsu was transforming.

This time he was different. He looked even far more like a dragon! His fur was still light; his horns were larger, and his claws were sharper. He had patches of scale skin on the sides of his long torso; yet his fur still remained. He roared ever so loudly; I was in hope.

"You are now a dragon; my child. Please save this land, for it is you and the human girls destiny. You shall find a pathway later on... Yet this is the time where the land and all of the world of spirits need you."

I quickly climbed on top of Satsus back; and held onto his large horns and his hair. He roared as his tail whipped back and forth; and we went outside of the doors of the palace. We were now flying in the most highest elevation from the land below, I received chills down my spine. Yet I was safe with Satsu. I had always and forever known that he will always protect me.

We flew down towards the land; and we were now on our way to defend the spirit world. And we were long aways from Kusubatas ruin; yet we were still on our way. And one day this land will be growing with life again. Soon; ever so soon; we will be free.
