The six of us were sitting in the office. I was on Caden's lap behind his desk. I knew it wasn't helping him focus but his hand on my hip was not going to let me change anything. So here I sat.
Dana, Benjamin and mom were on the couch and Daniel was sitting in the chair. Originally it was just Caden and I looking at pack territories, but then Daniel came in and we asked him to stay when the other three came in.
Caden didn't want him to be left out, which I completely agreed with. He was as much a part of this decision as the rest of us.
"So, Dana, you said they called?" Caden asked referring to council.
"They did. They asked if our father ever mentioned who he wanted to pass the title down to since his will included Blake not being an option." This wasn't a shock to me so I didn't even flinch but I felt Caden growl. He hated my father. I knew he disliked him, but I now know it was way more than that.
He hates everything my father stood for and the way he treated me topped it off. Caden didn't have an ounce of respect for him. And I didn't blame him.
Did you know that Bee?
Yes. Caden it's not really shocking.
What did he say? Just told you that you were never going to be what you were meant to be?
He didn't want me Alpha. Or Luna. Not even close. He told me I was part of his will a few years ago and I asked why. I asked why he would include a 'useless prick of a daughter' and he said that that was why he had to. He had to make sure that after he passed I couldn't steal his pack and destroy it.
Well he got one thing right, you couldn't destroy it. He did that himself. I hate that he did this though angel. I hate how he treated you.
Caden, it's fine. Because he hated me I realized how skewed he was. He's the one that taught me to stand for what I believe in. He taught me to make the best out of every situation.
He could've done that differently. I intend to teach our pups that. But no way in hell it's happening because I hate them.
Good. Because I didn't want to mess up that perfectly shaped ass when I beat it.
He coughed to cover up his laugh, God I love you angel.
I love you too. I was about to kiss him when I turned away and noticed everyone was staring at us. Oh, right.
You haven't told them?
No. Was I supposed to? I'm sorry-
I'm actually glad you haven't. "Sorry. She's distracting with her pretty little thoughts running through my mind." He said casually before running his lips over my neck and pressing them gently to my jaw.
Caden. Don't start what you can't finish in front of my family.
I'm sure your mother would excuse us if we promised her grandkids.
Caden! I said turning bright red and he just laughed quietly.
"How many thoughts does she have going through her head?"
"Well, many, but it's more her comments."
My mom looked at him skeptically and I laughed when Daniel's eyes grew to twice the size. "Blake...?" Dana asked.
"Yes?"
"Comments?"
I nodded, "We have our own link." I said barely containing the enthusiasm.
"But only fated mated have that Blake," my mom cut in and Caden laughed.
"Bingo!" He said chuckling. All four of them looked shocked before failing at a recovery.
"You two are fated mates?"
I nodded, "We found after I was out for a week. Grandpa used to tell me that after near death experiences, you would find out who your fated mate was. When I woke up Caden and I had the tingles and a few thoughts. But we were mated yet. Everything was already stronger. Then after we mated, well... yeah. We have our own link, feel emotions, know thoughts, everything."
"Blake here is my fated mate." Caden said happily before kissing my jaw again as tingles exploded and I wanted to rip his clothes off.
Go ahead babe. Nobody would stop you.
You wouldn't stop me, but hopefully they would leave first.
I can arrange that.
Caden.
He laughed and I let out a small grin. He really was amazing.
"So it's no wonder he's the only guy to ever get your attention," Dana said like everything just clicked.
I shrugged, "I didn't know how to tell you guys."
"Well if anything that huge ever happens again I want to know sooner sister!" Dana said and I laughed.
"No promises."
"You never did spill everything."Â I shrugged.
"Congratulations Blakey," Benji said and I scowled playfully at him.
"Thanks Benji." He scowled back and Daniel cut in.
"Cupcake! I knew you were like a sister the first time I met you. Now it makes sense." I laughed a bit but it was at Caden. He really doesn't like that Daniel calls me Cupcake.
"I guess it does."Â It quieted down as everyone absorbed the news.
Then Caden spoke up, "You don't know how happy I am that my angel and I were chosen by fate, but we need to talk about the future of your pack."
"Of course." Mom said and I noticed that she needed sleep.
"So what else did council say Danes?" She smiled at her nickname before responding.
"They asked if I knew why he didn't want his eldest to have the position. I may have been an ass but I told them that they should ask Blake or Mom."
"That's fine. I'm sure they'll ask mom."
"No, they said they would call both. So don't hate me when the council calls."
"It's fine. Bee will tell them the truth and clear it up." Caden said as if I had everything figured out. He had so much blind faith in me. Not my fault you shine so bright I'm blinded and can't see anything else.
That was so corny.
But true.
I laughed and he just smiled triumphantly. Dana raised an eyebrow and I shook my head, "Anyways."
"Blake they asked if I would accept the title. I told them no. I'm not meant to be Alpha."
I nodded, it wasn't shocking, she already said that. "Benji did they call you?"
"Yeah. That's why I came. Can we talk Blakey? Just the two of us?"
"Three. But sure." Benjamin nodded to Caden and the three of us walked out of the room, not stopping until Caden had me in his grip inside a room nicely outside of hearing distance.
"You turned it down? Why?" I asked once he looked at me.
"What? Blake how did you-"
"You didn't want to say it in front of mom because you didn't want to dissapoint her."
"I should've known you would know. You always know."
"Mom won't be dissapointed in you."
"She didn't want you to have the extra stress, and I know I shouldn't give you extra stress, but Grandpa ran the pack better than any other Alpha. And I know you're the only one who could surpass him. Your pack here is already better than when it started, I know that you need to run the other pack in order to bring it back. You're the only hope Blake. We all know it. The pack needs help. And plus, Caden and you are the strongest couple there is. Especially today, this is meant to be. As corny as that sounds."
Bee, you know he's right. Plus, it's only two, not four.
Caden if you don't want to-
He suddenly turned me and looked right into my eyes, Look at my face. I would be President if that was your dream.
You're doing this because it was my dream?
Yes, but also because I know this pack needs you, and I know we will have no problem running two packs. Fate did this. There's nothing we can't do.
I hugged him and turned to Benji, "Yes. We'll do it."
"Thank goodness. I couldn't watch someone else take over and destroy it even more."
We headed back and I panicked, What if council won't let me? It was my father's dying wish that I not get the position, and by me I mean us.
They will.
How do you know?
Because I think they know why he said that and who your Grandfather was.
I hope so.
We walked back in the office and Caden pulled me down on his lap in the chair behind his desk as Benjamin sat back down.
"So...?" Dana asked and I looked to Ben.
"I told her I turned it down." I saw him glance at my mom only to find a smile.
"Mom I-"
"We all know she doesn't need the extra stress, but watching them run this pack," She faded off before looking up to us. "Everyone can see that it's not stressful to watch them run a pack. It's just what they do. They were born leaders, and watching them as a couple, we should've known it was fate. You two are and will be amazing. You're grandpa would be proud Blake. Very proud."
"Thanks mom."
"So when they call-"
And the phone rang. Caden kissed my lips quick before smirking at me cockily, We got this. Two out of four.
I laughed before pecking him on the lips and picking up the phone, "Hello. Blake speaking."
