I spent all day with Dana at the beach. Jess ended up coming along and I was happy to see them both. It felt like ages since I had seen them. I called mom and Benji too and we stopped in after the beach so we could catch up a bit.
It sucked to leave but as soon as my father came out I was gone. Needless to say, my family understood.
It was only nine but felt like midnight and I was exhausted. I climbed up the stairs as I yawned, so I could grab more clothes. I needed to move boxes to my room. I kept forgetting during the day.
When I got to the top I noticed the door was open but knocked anyway.
"Blake, you don't have to knock."
I didn't see where he was and started making my way to the closet when I noticed he was in there. I stopped walking, hoping he was decent.
"Sorry, I needed more clothes." He said as he came out of the closet.
I shook my head, "It's your room. I was just grabbing clothes too."
He slowly walked out of the closet as he sat on the bed and I started going through my boxes for different shirts to throw on. I grabbed more pjs too before walking out of the closet.
"It's our room. Whether either of us use it or not, it's ours." There was that defeated voice again, although he was trying ot hide it.
I didn't respond. He sounded exhausted too, like he was just too tired. He was rubbing the back of his neck as he paced across the room and I walked around him to get out the door.
I was way too tired, I just needed to sleep.
I was so close to the door when he put his hands on my waist. I almost turned to smack him but forced myself not to.
I turned around and he pulled away from me but was still holding my hips, "Sleep here."
I looked down. I felt cold without his arms around me and my wolf whined that we weren't marked.
We don't even know him! I thought, but she just sighed.
"You should sleep in your own bed."
"Blake, I barely sleep anyways, you'll get more sleep here than on that tiny little bed downstairs," he said to me.
"The bed downstairs is fine."
"Yes but not great. Just use this one, please? If you don't like it, you can use the other one again tomorrow night. Please Blake? Just try it out, that's all I ask."
"But-" I was too tired to argue, plus, I suck at arguing.
"Blake. Just one night. I will use the one in my office, it's no different. Except its seriously more comfortable."
I yawned again and didn't even notice how close to me he got.
"Please Blake."
I didn't know if I could sleep here, everything just smelt so much like him. It was faint, you could tell he hasn't been using this room, but it was still the main scent.
"I don't want to change anything else for-"
"I've told you once, but since you're stubborn, I will tell you again. I don't want anything you've changed to change back."
"Why? You can't tell me it's easier with me here." I yawned again and he chuckled.
"Maybe I like the challenge, sleepyhead."
My eyes were heavy and I felt his hands on my waist again. I looked down at them but for some reason I didn't really want him to take them back. I was too tired to fight.
"Maybe you don't."
"Don't doubt me Blake."
There was definitely more behind his words but I just let it go.
"So?" He asked.
"So?"
"Just one night, I'll leave. If you like it you keep using it."
That's the part I was afraid of. Liking it. "I can't kick you out of your own room."
"Our room. And you aren't. Although, I've heard some mates kick people out so... it's not a stretch."
"Well, that's usually for a different reason."
He gently turned me around and I heard him inhale before moving us forward.
"Caden-"
I heard him mumble something about him loving the sound of that, before he spoke up, "Blake, one night." He turned me around and sat me on the bed. "Please?"
I was too tired for anything else, so I simply nodded.
"Thank you Blake."
Maybe just because I was tired I thought so, but his voice was like deep velvet.
He pulled the blankets back, "Lay down sleepyhead."
I complied and he pulled them back up to my shoulders, not covering my face. "Thanks Caden."
He smiled and I thought he would turn away but he just stood there. I fought with my eyes to keep them open but eventually they closed with him still standing there. I took a deep breath and my wolf settled down with the scent of her mate.
