Noelle looked at Mia and seriously said, "Xenia will never admit to it, no matter what you say. In the end, everyone watching will just think you're using your powers to pick on her. There are so many people watching, and it'll ruin your reputation if word spreads.
"You don't have to stand up for me. I appreciate it."
"But this is too unfair for you! That bitch did it on purpose; I saw it with my own eyes!" Mia protested.
"I understand. Things like this have happened many times since I was a child. Thank you for standing up for me and forcing them to apologize, but you might end up being the affected one."
That was why Noelle had pulled Mia away. It was to make sure people wouldn't spread rumors that might harm the latter's reputation.
Mia's eyes turned red. "I'm sorry that I misunderstood." It was only after
witnessing Noelle's suffering firsthand that she understood what Noelle had been through.
Noelle sighed helplessly. "I'm fine. I stopped caring about them ages ago. By the way, didn't you say you wanted to break up with Donovan?"
"I mentioned it to my family, but they said these are just small matters and told me to talk things out with Donovan.
"Cancelling the engagement won't be easy, but I'll find a way." Mia shrugged helplessly.
"Donovan cares the most about his pride. If you keep going against him, he'll probably be the one to initiate the breakup."
Upon seeing Mia's troubled look, Noelle guessed she had difficulties with the Cantrell family. At that moment, Salena arrived and came up to Mia. "Why aren't you with Mr. Liddell?"
Mia obediently replied, "I'll go in a moment."
Noelle's gaze turned colder at the sight.
Noticing Salena's arrival, Donovan walked over and greeted her, "Hello, Mrs. Cantrell."
Salena glanced at him and said, "I've made preparations for you. Make sure you perform well so the media can get nice articles tomorrow."
"Of course, Mrs. Cantrell. I won't let you down. I plan to collect Mia's data myself to customize a pair of shoes for her."
Salena smiled. "That's a good idea. That's why I wanted her to come today."
However, Mia resisted. "I asked a friend to help me with that, Aunt Salena."
Salena snapped, "Which friend?"
"That would be me," Noelle spoke up.
It was only then that Salena finally seemed to see her. "Oh, you're Ms. Liddell, aren't you? You're a gaming livestreamer; what do you know about prosthetics?"
She had to admit that Noelle was quite capable. Not only had the latter captured Cedric's heart, but she also managed to obtain shares in Maple Enterprise.
Once Maple Enterprise's project launched, Noelle's net worth would skyrocket to tens of millions.
Salena had investigated and learned that Xenia was just an adopted daughter. She had to start guarding against Noelle since she'd decided to work with Donovan.
Just then, an employee approached Noelle. "Here's your nametag, Noelle. You'll be speaking on stage late
as
the chief technical engineer. Don't forget to wear it."
Salena was taken aback. "Noelle is the chief technical engineer?"
The employee nodded. "Yes. Is there a problem?"
"She's young and just a freshman in college. How could she possibly be a chief technical engineer?"
Salena's tone was filled with ridicule as she looked at Noelle. It was no wonder Laura had been
overshadowed; it seemed Noelle was no ordinary woman.
The employee spoke up in Noelle's defense. "Noelle may be young, but she's a valedictorian. Plus, she was the one who initiated this project."
Salena refused to believe any of it as
she stared at Noelle and sneered. "So
what if she's a valedictorian? Qu company has plenty of those, yet
they're still just employees. Looks like some people will do anything to
chapter there!
Noelle knew she was referring to
chapter there!
Without waiting for Salena's reaction, she followed the employee in.
Salena's expression darkened with
anger. "Donovan, I heard there with be a Q&A session
be auldn't iting the speech,
She was determined to teach Noelle a lesson today!
