She liked a man who could come above her and make her look up to. Like Dennis.
It was one thing to admire, but it was another thing to get.
When I got back to Dennisâs office, I found a book and got sleepy after reading it for a while.
I lay prone on the sofa and slept for a while. When I woke up, I was covered with a blanket. It was dark in the office, as if the warm lights were turned on.
I looked around, but there was no sign of Dennis. I calmed down for a moment and sat up, feeling cold, so I wrapped myself in the blanket.
I sat there for a while and someone opened the door and came in. It was Toby.
When he saw me awake, he said, âAre you hungry? Is there anything you want to eat?â
I looked out the window and saw it was getting dark, so I said, âWhat time is it?â
He said, âEight oâclock.â.
I frowned, âIs Dennis still in a meeting?â
Toby nodded, âThe international conference is over, but not on the AI side. Mr. George wants you to eat something first.â
I nodded, âHas he eaten something yet?â
He shook his head, âNo.â
I thought about it and said, âI want you to order me two steaks, two glasses of milk, hot, and a dessert.â
After a pause, I looked at him and asked, âWhat about you?â
He was stunned, then he shook his head, âNot yet.â
Shocked, I said, âThen three steaks. As for the rest, you can order whatever you want, and Dennis will pay the money.â
He smiled, nodded, and went out.
I got up, went to the bathroom, cleaned up, and put one of Dennisâs clothes on me in the lounge closet.
Toby had already ordered the meal when I came out.
I looked at the time and saw Dennis was still in a meeting. I winced.
So I went straight out of the office to the conference room.
Toby was following me, but he didnât stop me. I thought it was normal.
But on second thought, I felt abnormal again and looked back at him.
He looked back at me, smiled awkwardly, and said nothing. Then I asked, âHow many people are there at the meeting?â
He said, âTwo!â
âAnd they are?â
âMr. George and Miss Torres.â
I frowned, âMiss Torres?â
He nodded.
I got it. Turned out Dennis had this long meeting with Sheila Torres.
At the door of the conference room, Toby opened the door before I raised my hand.
I froze for a second or two, then heard conversation coming from inside.
Dennis, âI disagree!â
âMr. George, the reason weâre taking over AI is to make it easier for humans and to advance the worldâs technology. If weâre held back by worrying about the evolution of intelligence, thatâs a needless worry.â
That was Sheila Torresâs voice.
Dennis frowned. He was running out of patience. When he looked up, he saw me and his face softened. He ignored Sheila Torres and walked up to me.
Sheila Torres noticed the change in his mood and followed his gaze. Her beautiful brow furrowed when she saw me.
She was unhappy.
When Dennis walked up to me, he had a tired look in his eyes. He didnât care if there was anyone around, he just held me in his arms.
He took a deep breath and a long exhalation before he spoke, âIf you donât show up, Iâm gonna run out of power.â
I smiled, looked up at Sheila Torres, who was a little upset, and put my arms around him, âNow the charger is here, you can charge it!â
Toby, a perceptive man, looked at me and Dennis and left.
Sheila Torres, who was standing in the conference room, looked pale and said, âMr. George, our meeting is not over. Isnât it inappropriate for your wife to barge in like this?â
Dennis hugged me and said in a low, hushed voice, âIt is already off duty now, you go back first, the unresolved problems can be solved tomorrow.â
She was upset and wanted to say something.
But Dennis stopped her and said, âMiss Torre, you live alone, and you donât have to worry about your boyfriend or parents. But I canât. I have a wife and kid, and I must spend time with them after work. Thank you very much for your earnest and dedication to work. As for the overtime salary, Toby will inform the financial department to calculate it for you. Itâs getting late, you can go home now!â
This made her speechless.
I left her alone. I was so hungry that I grabbed Dennis and said, âI asked Toby to order steaks. Are you hungry? Letâs go to dinner.â
He smiled gently, his lips tinged with warmth, âMy wife knows me best.â
Ignoring Sheila Torresâs angry face, Dennis and I headed straight to the office.
Toby already took his share back to his office.
He left mine and Dennisâs. Dennis cut the steak, then looked at me and said apologetically, âItâll never happen again.â
I was stunned and looked up at him. Still a little unresponsive, I couldnât help saying, âWhat?â
He smiled, then placed the cut steak in front of me and said, âIt wonât be that late next time.â
I shrugged, âItâs okay. Itâs your job, after all.â I paused slightly, thinking of what I had heard outside the conference room, then said, âYouâre not going to expand on the AI?â
Please Love Me, Mr. George ï¤Chapter 416 We all Know What we Want 8 According to the current situation, to be able to develop AI intelligence to the top will definitely give George group a step up.
He stopped and shook his head, âNow is not the time. AI was at least a decade away. Everything we do now is preparation for later. If we rush it too much, it will all fall short.â
He had his own ideas about it, and I was not a professional, so it was not appropriate for me to get too involved.
After dinner, it was already ten oâclock. By the time Dennis and I got back to the villa, Clariana was already asleep.
Mario called and said he was taking Clariana to H Town tomorrow, which we had already agreed with Clariana.
So, after I packed up some of Clarianaâs usual supplies, I washed up and went to bed.
..
The next day!
Mario arrived early and Dennis didnât go to work. When I woke up, I heard voices downstairs. I washed up and went downstairs to meet Mario and Dennis, who seemed to be talking about Hankâs company.
Basically, Mario was saying to Dennis that he didnât have to go so far with Hank. It seemed that Dennisâs coolness came with this question.
He angrily blocked Marioâs attempts to persuade him, then said coldly, âDonât worry about these things.â
Mario frowned, âYou can crush the Gibsonâs at home, but you forget that the Gibsonâs hold sway in Country M. Once Hank Gibson returns to Country M, most of our industry in Country M will be dead.â
Dennis said darkly, âYou think I can only bankrupt him at home?â
Mario was stunned, then said after a pause, âYou did the same thing in Country M?â
Dennis took a sip of water and was relaxed. âIf he can settle down in Country M, I can consider letting him live a good life abroad. But if he sets his hand on us, he wonât have much luck.â
