Alex glanced at me and then at Jessica, âWhy did you two come together?â
Jessica explained hurriedly, âIâve always wanted to express my thanks to Miss. Kennedy. When we met in the yard downstairs, I came to talk with her.â
Alex was confused, âWhen did you know each other?â
âFour years ago!â Jessica smiled and cast a glance at Leo, âIf it had not been for Miss and Mr. Kennedy, I might have been dead now. I must express my gratitude.â
I pressed my lips. I felt vaguely there was something not so innocent with her.
Leo frowned and said nothing.
Yara wanted to say something but lowered her head silently.
Folly had a look at Jessica and said, âYou two did such a good deed to save a girl!â
And she paused a moment and added, âMiss. Jessica, donât let it weigh on you too heavily. Your saviors have probably forgotten that.â
Jessica smiled, âI was the one who was saved. I wouldnât forget.â
Folly raised her eyebrows, âWhy not reciprocate through having sex with Leo?â
Jessica flushed instantly and was reduced to silence.
Folly was straightforward, âActually, the best way to repay is to let it go and not to interfere with the helperâs life. Am I right, Mr. Kennedy?â
She was implicating something.
Leo didnât reply but put the soup that the waiter served just now in front of Yara.
It seemed that he agreed with Folly.
When we got out of the restaurant, it was late.
Folly had already gone with Zack.
Alex and Luis had left too.
Luis told Jessica to hail a taxi when he left but there were few near a private restaurant.
Dennis didnât care about that and let me get into the car so that we could go home.
I saw Jessica standing beside Leo and Yara and saying something.
Leo nodded and Jessica got into the car with him.
Yara was left standing there alone.
I was shocked. What the heck happened?
Did they fight and thus leave her behind?
âLetâs back to pick Yara.â I said to Dennis.
He glanced at the rear-view mirror and saw Yara.
He frowned and drove back.
I got out of the car and saw Yara in the cold wind.
I frowned and asked her, âWhat happened? Why didnât you go with Leo?â
She smiled, âHe gave a ride to Miss. Jessica. A driver from home would pick me up soon.â
What was wrong with Leo?
I was angry and let her into the car.
And I told her to call the driver not to come.
And I went into the car and called Leo.
âWhatâs the matter, Clara?â
âLeo, have you lost your mind? How could you leave your wife standing in the wind and give a ride to others? Whatâs wrong with you?â
Yara was surprised at this and said to me in a small voice, âClara, I am okay. You neednât...â
I patted her hand, âItâs okay.â
Leo was also surprised at what I said, âA driver would be sent to pick her up. Donât worry.â
I tried to repress my anger, âLeo, she is your wife and is conceiving your child for godâs sake!â
What was on his mind when he abandoned his wife and drove a stranger home?
âI am not going to marry her, Clara. She is just a tool that is used to bear a child. You donât have to act as if she were your sister-in-law. I will marry someone one day, who would become your sister-in-law. As for Yara, donât worry, the housemaids will take good care of her. And you just take good care of yourself and donât bother yourself with these things.â
Yara was sitting near me and heard all.
I didnât know what to say and hung up, looking at her.
She turned pale and summoned a smile.
There were tears in her eyes and she turned her face towards the window in case I should notice.
I felt pain for her as she was like myself years ago.
Silent all the way, Dennis dropped her at Leoâs house.
A housemaid came out to welcome Yara.
We left.
Dennis looked at me and asked gently, âWhatâs on your mind?â
I leaned back and was confused, âDennis, do you remember the day when you came to pick me up from the hospital four years ago?â
He pressed his lips, eyes on the road, âYes, I do.â
I didnât reply.
He went on, âWhatâs wrong?â
Please Love Me, Mr. George ï¤Chapter 366 After I Met You (10)
âI didnât expect you would come. That day I had a type-B ultrasonic inspection and acknowledged that I was pregnant for six months. I wanted to tell you about it so that you might not insist upon a divorce. But I didnât want to trap you with a baby. That would be so base.â
I looked at my hand and the nails needed cutting.
He was silent and I continued, âThen Olivia had an accidental miscarriage and you cared about and loved her so much. And I was determined to divorce you and give birth to the child secretly. I fabricated an abortion operation but I didnât expect you would love me...â
The car slowly pulled over.
He raised my chin and looked me in the eye.
I stared at him and didnât know what to say.
He said, âI wanted a divorce because I was not sure whether I could take good care of you wholeheartedly for the rest of my life. Good days would make the severing more painful.â
