A few short words, and I was a little distracted. I blushed a little at the glare of his eyes.
I avoided him and sat down on the sofa. I looked at my watch and said, âItâs getting late. Letâs go to bed!â
He reached out, grabbed me and put my hand in his. âIâve already contacted the school in City P. If you want, take me and Clariana with you.â
I smiled. âYou don't need me to take you with me.â
He looked at me with glowing eyes. âWherever you are, I will be there.â
I blushed a little, raised my hand to cover his eyes, and said, âLetâs talk about it later!â
He said âokayâ and pulled me close to him, burying his head deep on my neck. âIt smells good.â
The atmosphere was getting a little awkward. I stood up and said softly, âGood night!â
He has lived here a few days, and we got along very well. He was gentlemanly, tender, but not overstepping.
...
The next day.
This day was the weekend and I could finally have a rest.
Clariana wanted to go out and play. HL Area was quite small with few amusement parks, so Dennis drove around the city center and did some shopping.
I was annoyed that he was buying too many things for Clariana. âYouâre spoiling her. Itâll do her no good.â
There were many kinds of love. Blindly conniving was not good for children.
He pressed his lips, âI missed four years of her growth, so I didnât control it well. Iâm sorry.â
âSorryâ came out of his mouth and surprised me.
I nodded and let it go.
Clariana wanted fried chicken, and I said yes. Once a month was allowed.
Bernice Miller jewelry was on the mallâs LED screen.
Sitting in the fried chicken shop, the video became clearer. There was gossip about her at the front desk. It was mostly about her and Dennis, and the reporter didnât take Dennis in the face.
The magazine showed him face to face with Bernice Miller, leaving his back to the audience. Looked like it was taken at an event.
With Dennis on board, the magazineâs popularity was even higher.
âMaking a scene!â he said suddenly.
I looked back at him and said, âWhat did you order?â
Clariana exclaimed, âFamily bucket, ice cream, hamburger, Coke, and French fries.â
I frowned. âCan you eat them all?â
She tilted her head and said, âMom, I only eat it once a month, and thatâs what I want.â
Dennis seemed to agree with her logic, and I was a little annoyed, âClariana, when you eat, you do what you can. If you ordered it and couldnât finish it, now itâs just a waste of dozens. But if itâs something you say youâre going to do and you donât do it, the price youâre going to pay is probably losing the person you love the most, okay?â
Dennis frowned. âSheâs only four!â
âItâs the same even when sheâs only one year old. She didnât have to wait until she was 18 to understand what she could understand at four.â I might have been cruel, but I always felt like if there was something Clariana needed to know, she had to know it early He sighed and motioned us back to our seats to wait for him.
Clariana seemed to realize she shouldn't have ordered so much. After a moment of silence, she looked at me and said, âMom, I was wrong. I wonât do it again.â
I nodded, my eyes resting on Dennis as he approached.
He laid all the food on the table and looked at Clariana. âIf you like it, donât mistreat yourself. Eat at ease.â
Clariana looked at me and began to eat happily when I nodded.
I lost my appetite and stared out the window at the same Bernice Miller jewelry promotional video on the big screen.
âWhether itâs Olivia or Bernice Miller, I was just playing along. If you mind, I won't bring a date for future events.â He said, his voice affirming.
I sighed, âYou donât have to do this. I have my life figured out, and I know what I want, so you donât have to worry about me.â
He frowned. âSo you're angry?â
I shook my head.
I really didnât care. âNo matter whom you are with, these are the things that journalists and media use to entertain their audiences. Dennis, the media can use us for entertainment, but we canât get caught up in it.â
He smiled, and there was warmth on his face. âI'll cook tonight.â
I smiled.
Clarianaâs mouth was full of oil, âBut didnât we agree to eat out tonight? We're going to the movies later.â
The little guy was so serious that he couldnât help but laugh. Dennis wiped her mouth and said gently, âWell, itâs up to you.â
The rest of the time we were in accordance with her requirements. Everything seemed peaceful and beautiful.
It was late when we got back to the yard. Tired from walking all day, Clariana fell asleep leaning on Dennis.
Maybe I had walked too much, and the sprain was starting to ache again.
It was probably sequela!
After sending Clariana to the bedroom, he came out of the room and saw me pouring water. He took the kettle from me and filled it, then squatted on the side of the basin to test the water temperature.
It seemed to be hot, so he turned and poured some cold water in it, untying my shoelace. It was obvious that he was going to wash my feet.
I resisted, putting my hand on him. âI can do it myself.â
Please Love Me, Mr. George ï¤Chapter 321 Meet old friend 2 He pursed his lips. âThe old wound is not completely healed. After soaking it for a while, rub it with safflower wine.â
His long fingers dipped into the water as he spoke. Some peopleâs fate seemed preordained.
I couldnât seem to get away from him.
Watching him rubbing my ankle, I said, âThere are many things in City P. You have been here for a long time. You should go back and have a look.â
He looked up, his eyes deep. âSo youâre kicking me out?â
I shook my head. âJust a suggestion.â
He did not say anything, but bent his head and rubbed my ankle for me.
Counting the days carefully, he had been in HL Area for half a month. The George Group had a lot going on, I knew that. He often held teleconferences on his computer, handled documents, and was sometimes swamped with work.
But even so, the center of the George Group was in City P, and his coming here was not a long-term solution.
I was so used to daily trifles, dealing with things of this yard, that I didnât want to go back to City P with him.
So even though he was now quietly entering my life, he and I seemed to have merged.
But peace was just an illusion. If something happened, he still had to go.
That night, the stars were bright. It took me a long time to fall asleep. I had thought about Clarianaâs future.
I knew better than anyone that her staying with me in HL Area gave me a sense of belonging, but not for her. She was a child.
She had never seen the outside world. She needed to see, she needed to learn, she needed a better environment to see and enrich herself I loved the beauty of HL Area, but I couldnât delay Clarianaâs future.
