âA friend I met on the plane, but you donât know her. Donât worry about it, okay? I will take good care of myself.â
After a while of silence, Dennis said, âOkay, just donât forget to text me when you go out and send me the address later. I will pick you up tonight.â
I hummed, then hung up.
It didnât take long before someone knocked on the hotel door. It was Toby.
When he saw me opening the door, with his usual cold face, he said, âMaâam, Mr. George asked me to bring these clothes to you.â
I nodded and took the clothes, âThank you!â
Toby said âYou're welcome.â and then left.
Entering back into the room, I changed my clothes.
Not long after, Jane Shaw called and said she was downstairs at the hotel.
I was ready and went downstairs. Then I saw a black Bentley parked in front of the hotel, I couldn't help but be stunned.
The car window was rolled down, and in the driver's seat, the man with a pronounced and cold face looked at me sideways.
The man looked familiar and unfamiliar at the same time. Were there really two completely different people in the world that had the same-looking faces?
âClara!â Jane Shaw, who was seated in the passenger seat, greeted me with her head tilted, âGet in the car!â
I was stunned for a while, then returned to my senses and got into the car.
âWere you thinking about something important just now? I have been waving at you but you didnât see me at all.â Jane Shaw said, looking at the man in the driver's seat, âThis is my fiancé, Hank Gibson. I was on the way to meet you, and he happened to just finish his work, so we came here together. I hope you donât mind!â
I opened my mouth, but my mind hadn't come from the shock just now. I then shook my head slightly, âNo, not at all!â
Looking at the manâs gloomy and handsome profile, I was overwhelmed for a while and wanted to ask, but with Jane being here, I couldn't ask anything.
We arrived at the restaurant.
Jane seemed to be in a very good mood, holding Hank's hand and said, âMy Gibson, help us order. I am sure I will love what you pick for us.â
Hank agreed. With a low voice, he looked up at me and raised his eyebrows, âWhat would Ms. Clara like to have?â
âAnything would be nice!â I said, looking at the face in front of me, who I thought had disappeared in my life forever, now appeared in front of me alive -
My feelings were beyond description.
During the meal, Jane was talkative, but Hank always responded simply. I wasn't in the mood to eat, so I didnât have much.
âMs. Clara, would you like to have something else thatâs more appetizing?â The man sitting across fram me suddenly said. His voice was indifferent and distant.
I froze for a moment, raised my eyes, and shook my head, âNo, I just grabbed something to eat at the hotel just now, so Iâm not that hungry.â
The man raised his eyebrows and said wantonly, âIs Ms. Clara intimidated by me?â
I was stunned for a moment and raised my eyes. Hank and I looked at each other, and I shook my head, âNo, not at all, Mr.Gibson...â
âYes, Iâve noticed that too. Clara, it seems that your face hasnât been very good since you met my Gibson. Whatâs wrong?â Jane spoke, with a look of doubt.
The person who had supposedly been turned to ashes suddenly stood in front of you alive, wouldn't you be intimidated?
Suppressing the emotions in my heart, I shook my head, âNo, Iâm just feeling a bit under the weather. I am afraid I have to go now. Please enjoy the rest of your night.â
Saying so, I got up and prepared to leave.
But I was blocked by Hank Gibson. He was taller than me by one head, and his eyes were deep. He looked at Jane gloomily and said, âJaney, you pay the bill first. I'll take Ms. Clara out now.â
Jane was stunned, but she nodded and went ahead to the cashier.
I pursed my lips, my face was not very good. I avoided Hank and walked straight out the door - He followed behind me without saying a word.
Outside the restaurant, I raised my hand to take a cab. And Hank just stood by, still silent.
The phone in my pocket rang, and I answered it. It was Dennis. âWhere are you, babe? Are you coming back now? I'll come to pick you up.â
âNot yet..
. You donât have to come to pick me up. I will go back by myself in a while.â I didnât know how Dennis would react if he saw Hank Gibson alive in front of him again, so I had to lie about it now.
Dennis was silent for a while on the other end of the phone. He then said with a low and restrained voice, âOkay, I will be waiting for you in our hotel room then.â
After hanging up the phone, I looked at the vehicles standing on the side of the road and had only one thought in my mind: I had to hurry back to the hotel.
âItâs not convenient to grab a cab this time of day in Country M. Would you like for me to give you a ride?â The man who had been silent behind me said. His voice was still indifferent and cold.
âNo! Thank you!â
âSure!â The man sneered. âYou havenât asked me any questions yet, itâs so not you, Clara.â
I pursed my lips, âMr. Gibson, you know, deception is the most shameful thing among all.â
âDeception?â Hank sneered, âWhat did I deceive you?â
I didnât reply a word. Finally, a cab came - I raised my hand at it, got in the car, and told the driver the hotelâs address.
When Jane Shaw came out, my cab had gone far. She looked at Hank and frowned as if she was complaining about something.
I didnât want to ask about what happened after Hankâs car accident. If we parted separate ways, we should just move on and build our own lives.
I was annoyed that he seemed to have kept all of us on the spot as idiots. Probably he was viewing this farce as a spectator all the time.
I was finally back at the hotel.
When I entered the hotel, I saw Dennis standing in the lobby waiting for me at a glance.
He was wearing a black suit as always, brightly polished black leather shoes, with one hand in his pocket, standing in the hotel lobby with a strong figure.
I was stunned and squatted on the spot for a while, with a little more complexity in my heart. About Hank Gibson, should I tell him?
Dennis noticed me, and he strode with his long legs to walk up to me. I looked at his figure, and suddenly two words came into my mind - The sun!
He walked up to me, and before I could speak, he took me into his arms.
I was stunned for a few seconds, put my hand around his waist, and pressed my cheek against his chest. There was a faint scent of green grass and agarwood on the manâs body. I sniffed the scent on his body and felt a lot calmer. I said in a low voice, âHubby!â
The man froze for a moment, wrapped his arms around me, looked at my face, and said, âWhat happened?â
I shook my head, âNothing!â
There were a lot of people entering and leaving the hotel. From time to time, passersby stared at me. Dennis hugged me for a while, and he took me back to our hotel suite.
There were a few Chinese takeaways on the dining table in the room. After taking off my jacket, I couldnât help but look up at him, âHave you not had dinner?â
He smiled, âI have been waiting for you to enjoy these with me.â
I was surprised, âBut you know I have had dinner out at a restaurant.â
He said, âMhm-hmm.â But then he brought me to the table and seated me down. He served me some food, and said with a heart-warming voice, âBut you donât like the food there. So you would come home hungry.â
Dennis was right - I didnât enjoy the food at the restaurant that Jane had taken me to. I looked at Dennis and said in surprise, âBut how did you find that out?â
The food on the table should have just been delivered a while before because it was still warm. He served some of the food for me and took a bite himself, with a warm expression on his face, âYou are protected by bodyguards.â
Please Love Me, Mr. George ï¤Chapter 301: The Mysterious Man 13 I was taken aback for a moment. After the last accident, Dennis had arranged a few bodyguards for my safety. I was aware of it, but I just forgot about it unconsciously.
