âMiss Kennedy, what do you mean by that? Are you here to pick a fight today?â As he spoke, several men in black clothes appeared at his side.
They seemed to be bodyguards.
I raised my eyebrows. âSo bold?â He knew who I was and he acted so recklessly still. Looked like he had a backup in the W Town.
I looked at Leo and said, âWho owns the W Town?â
Leo raised his eyebrows and his eyes fell on Folly Lewis, who had been sitting still and sipping wine.
So, it belongs to the Lewis family?
Folly Lewis saw me looking at her, she smiled and said, âMiss Kennedy, would you like to be my friend?â
âWhat a special way you have of making friends!â
She said, shrugging her shoulders. âIâm not a gentleman, and I canât deal with things in right ways. Just tell me if youâre willing or not.â
I couldn't help laughing. âYou have a very bold way of making friends. If I say no, are you going to leave us here tonight?â
She shook her head. âThatâs not an option. If you really donât want to be my friend, Iâll think of other ways. But this Jessica thing, you canât just let it go tonight. After all, she screwed up, and that fat bastard canât do anything to you since you are one of the Kennedy family. But I have a business to run, and thereâs no telling what heâll do to me!â
Leo sneered. âYouâve been in this club for so many years, and youâre worried about an upstart?â
âOf course not.â Said Folly Lewis, looking at Jessica. âIâm not afraid, but ask her is she is. The upstart canât do anything to me, but do you think heâs gonna hold his anger and not take it out on her?â
From what she was saying, Jessica was my responsibility now.
Leo tutted, looked at Jessica and said, âYoung lady, would you mind working somewhere else?â
I...
Jessica paused, looking at Folly Lewis with her delicate smiling face, perplexed.
Folly Lewis laughed. âDoes Mr. Kennedy mean he is willing to be my friend?â
Leo raised his eyebrows. His handsome face looked evil. âItâs not a bad thing to have a friend anyway.â
With a whimsical laugh, Folly Lewis replied cheerfully, âAll right, itâs settled. Weâre friends now.â She looked at Jessica and said, âNow that Mr.
Kennedy said so, arenât you going to thank him?â
Jessica looked at Leo and said, âThank you, Mr. Kennedy, for saving your life.â
Leo was speechless. âCome on, donât be so serious.â
At this point, Leo checked time, then looked at Jessica and said, âDo you have your phone with you?â
Jessica nodded and hurriedly took out her cell phone.
Leo took the phone and left a number on it. Then he gave it back to Jessica and said, âCall this guy tomorrow. Tell him itâs Leo who asked you to go to him.â
Jessica picked up the phone and looked at Leo, blushing.
âWhy donât you just give her your number and tell her to call you if she needs anything?â said Folly Lewis.
Leo frowned, gave Folly Lewis a wry look and fell silent. Then he looked at me and said, âAre you sleepy?â
I nodded. I did feel a little tired. I had a drink, and now I was feeling a little dizzy.
He reached for me and glanced vaguely at Folly Lewis. âItâs getting late,â he said. âWe must go.â
Folly Lewis looked at me and said, âMiss Kennedy, now that weâre all friends, would you mind giving me your number, so we can keep in touch in the future!â
I paused and handed her my phone. She typed in a string of numbers, looked at me and smiled, âLetâs keep in touch!â
It was three in the morning when Leo and I left W Town.
When I got back to the villa, as I thought, Dennis wasnât there.
I was too tired to think about it, so I fell asleep on the bed.
The next day.
I was still dreaming when Alex called. After being woken up by the ringing of the telephone, I had a terrible headache.
I picked up the phone and Alex said, âAbout the Luna thing, did you do that?â His tone was heavy, and I could hear the blame in his voice, even though I was confused.
âYes!â I shifted my body. I felt sick all over, probably from lack of sleep.
He sighed. âClara, nothing you can do will help you if you canât get past this tension in your heart. Promise me you wonât do it again, and donât turn yourself into something you hate.â
I raised my hand and pinched my eyebrows. âAlex, Iâve become something I hate.â
I didnât know when I started to change.
He was silent for a moment. âCome back to Newton Town. Youâve got Clariana and me. Everything will be fine.â
I kind of wanted to cry. Then I nodded a little and choked up with one word, âOkay!â
âWhen are you going back to Newton Town? Clariana and I will pick you up!â
âI guess Iâll be back in a few days. The New Year is coming soon. I will arrange things here and go back.â
âOkay!â
After I hung up with Alex, I stared at the ceiling for a while, then I came downstairs in a daze.
Nanny Daisy made breakfast and when I came down, she said, âDidnât you sleep well last night? Why are you so haggard?â
I yawned, nodded and said, âWhen are you going back to Newton Town?â
She froze for a moment and said, âI was just about to talk to you about that. Arenât you and Mr. George going back to Newton Town? I have to go back tonight. Have you two figured out how to celebrate New Year here?â
I shook my head and said, âWeâll probably go back to Newton Town, too.â
She frowned and said, âClara, didnât you just join the Kennedy family? You should celebrate New Year with the Kennedys. Thatâs the way it works.â
I almost forgot that. I felt a little headache and said, âWell, Iâll see what Iâm gonna do this year.â
Please Love Me, Mr. George ï¤Chapter 269 One Wrong Step and all Would be Lost 7 After breakfast, I went straight to the office.
Stones Washington was in City P. He was going to take his holiday after the annual meeting.
After contacting me in advance, he waited for me in the office. When I came in, he said, âThere is a new breakthrough in AI products. Weâll have a press conference after the New Year. If nothing else, the Gibson family will completely corner the AI market.â
I was stunned that he would give me such a big surprise. I laughed. âThatâs probably the best news Iâve heard all year. Please arrange it for me. Let everyone go home and celebrate the New Year after the annual meeting and then weâll come just do the launch when we come back.â
He nodded, then handed me the papers and left. I stood in my office for a while.
