âWell, just wait in the office and Iâll pick you up later.â How could he continue to stare at this point after all that we said? There must be something wrong with his brain.
I gasped and said calmly, âDon't come. Iâm ready to go now.â
I just hung up the phone and got into the elevator. It was only a few minutesâ journey, and he would not have flown here.
But I was overthinking it, because I met Dennis in front of the office.
He stood out in the crowd in a black hand-tailored suit, tall and straight with his striking features.
Seeing him, I subconsciously wanted to dodge, but before I could react, he was already striding toward me.
He took me in his arms without restraint and said, âHow long are you going to be angry?â
With so many people around, I didnât struggle too much. I kept a smile on my face and said, âIâm not angry!â
He dragged me out of the company. At this moment, a red sports car suddenly stopped, attracting many peopleâs attention.
The door was turned up and opened spectacularly. Leo got out of the car wearing dark glasses and looking hip and cool.
Seeing me in Dennisâs arms, he took off his sunglasses, squinted at Dennis and said coldly, âCanât you see sheâs got resistance all over her face?â
Dennis gave him a disdainful look, eyes on me, and said coldly, âYou tricked me out of the car for him, and youâre going to avoid me?â
I...
This was sheer libel.
âNo!â I said dryly, âI donât know what heâs doing here.â
It was already a hassle to deal with Dennis, and now there was Leo, and I was having a headache.
Looking at the two men, I said, âIâm going to the doctor!â
With that, I went straight to Dennisâs car.
In the hospital.
At the Center for Mental Illness Control.
The psychiatrist and I were the only ones sitting opposite each other in the huge ward. The doctor was an elderly man named Dodge.
âDr. Dodge, this is for you from Mr. George.â The nurse came in, handed the papers to the doctor, and gave me a very serious look as she left.
Dr. Dodge reviewed the papers, adjusted his reading glasses, and looked at me. âClara,â he said, âdo you have frequent insomnia these days?â
I thought about it and said, âI tend to lose sleep when Iâm emotionally unstable, but I donât know if that counts as frequent.
â
âYouâre under pressure. Youâll have to learn to let it out yourself. Drop in when youâre free and donât worry too much. Life is short, and weâll get aged before we figure out a lot of things.â
He was kind of talking to me. I nodded, agreeing with him.
He looked down at me and wrote something down on a piece of paper. âDo what you want,â he said with a smile.
I took the prescription, which was filled with tranquilizers. I paused and said, âThese pills?â
âItâs the same medicine you used to take. After all these years, you know itâs up to you to fix it. All the doctor can tell you is to move on!â he said, and there was no emotion on his face.
I nodded and asked no more questions.
Coming out of the room, Dennis and Leo both looked at me and said, âHow was that?â
I smiled and handed the prescription to Dennis. âThe doctor said I need a good rest.â
âWhat?â Leo was surprised. âDid Dr. Dodge really say that?â
I nodded and looked at him with a tilt of my head. âSo, youâre not going to keep me going to the doctor, are you?â
Leo frowned, âThen who was...?â He glanced at Dennis, who looked sulky, then paused and looked at me, âLink wants you to come with me to his house next week so we can have dinner together and you can get to know the Kennedy family.â
I was stunned, but I thought about it and nodded. I yawned and looked at Leo and said, âI didnât sleep well last night. Iâm going back now!â
He was going to say something more, but seeing how sleepy I was, he stopped, nodded, and said, âWell, get some rest then.â
He gave Dennis an angry look and said sarcastically, âArenât you tired?â
Dennis smiled. âIâve always been in good health!â
Leo was furious and left.
As Leo left, Dennis narrowed his eyes slightly, looked at me and asked, âWhereâs the prescription?â
I pressed my lips together and squeezed the prescription in my hand.
âThereâs no prescription. The doctor said I just need more rest.â
âClara!â he said angrily.
I was a little upset, so I didnât say much to him. I walked straight out of the hospital and got into the car.
Instead of asking for the prescription, he looked at me and said, âMarcus invited you for dinner in Ny City. Do you want to come?â
I instinctively wanted to turn him down, but I paused, looked at him and said, âWhy am I invited?â
He started the car. âWeâve talked about it before on the phone!â
I was stunned, so he was going to apologize to me?
They said you could tell whether a man loved you or not by the way his friends treated you.
I looked at him and nodded. âOk!â
It was still early. When Dennis took me to Ny City, I thought it was early, and I said, âDonât you think itâs too early?â
He simply replied, âYou can have a good rest after an early dinner.â
I...
In the restaurant!
Looking at the three people sitting inside, I wanted to laugh. I looked back at Dennis and sarcastically said, âSo, whatâs the purpose of this dinner?â
Please Love Me, Mr. George ï¤Chapter 235 Half Enemy Yara 7 Dennis frowned, squinted his eyes at Marcus and asked, âWhatâs going on here?â
Marcus stood up and said sheepishly, âDennis, Oliviaâs been in the hospital and hasnât been out in a while. She just came by for a walk, and Iâm sorry I didnât tell you, but I promise, nothingâs gonna happen.â
Mario was drinking his tea with an air of indifference.
Dennis cast a distant glance at Olivia, who sat at the table and looked at me and said, âWhat do you think?â
Marcus looked at me apologetically and said, âClara, Iâm sorry, I...â
âSince when did I become redundant around here?â Olivia said, her pretty little face full of pride and injustice. âSince everyone thinks Iâm redundant, I wonât bother you guys.â
Then she got up, picked up her bag and was ready to go.
Marcus gave me an embarrassed look and said, âClara, Iâm sorry but I have to send her off.â
âNo, thereâs no need. Since weâre all together, letâs have dinner together.â I said, looking at the bumbling Olivia. âPlease join us if you donât mind.âlightnoveldaily.com
