She nodded, looked at me and said, âBy the way, someone on my side checked it out and found that Samâs wife has been a stay-at-home mom for the past few years. She basically has no time and ability to operate a large-scale farm. In fact, this farm is just a hill that Sam bought for more than $100,000 in a remote village. He put some chickens in it and asked a local man to look after it. They have barely managed it for decades.â
I thought I knew what she meant. The breeding company was a gimmick and probably had no revenue at all. And the companyâs accounts are full of transactions between Sam and these businessmen.â
No wonder Link never found anything after all this time. Sam really made a good move!
After a pause, I looked over at her. âIs there a Lunaâs transfer on this companyâs account?â
Jackie shook her head. âNo, Luna has always been very careful. Her company has no reason to work with a farming company, so all her transfers were made through Andy!â
âIn what name did Andy transfer the money to Sam?â Andy worked for an audit company. Although they could have contact with all the companies, they transferred money out, not in. Was it appropriate for an audit firm to make payments to a breeding company?
âThatâs what I was thinking at first, but then I looked it up and found out Andy owns a frozen bushmeat market. In this way, no matter how much capital interaction they have, they are all normal transactions demanded by markets, and they are all reasonable and legal.â
Wow!
A man who did not know the ins and outs of this affair could not find out anything at all. Even now, knowing what was going on, it was going to be hard to convict Sam. These were, after all, seemingly sensible deals.
I had no idea what to do now. Even if I told Link about it, there was no way to directly incriminate Luna.
She paused at my frown. âYou could start with Andy. Heâs not as loyal to Luna as he seems. Plus, it looks like thereâs a third party involved, and someone might be trying to pull Luna down.â
âA third party?â I couldnât help but wonder, âWho else did Luna have a beef with?â
âI donât know,â she said, shrugging her shoulders. But I recently noticed that it looks like someone dug up some of Lunaâs racy videos from her younger days, and thereâs a lot of them. There are a lot of people involved. By the way, Samâs wife would be a good target. You wonât be able to find money, but you might be able to find something else.
â
I nodded, collected all the information she had given me and looked at her. âThank you for this.â
âYouâre welcome,â she said, smiling and taking a sip of her coffee. âYou helped me with Steven and I help you with this. Itâs a basic contract.â
Seeing her so, I said nothing more. We had a casual conversation, and then she left.
I got back to the villa a little late and was surprised to see Olivia as an uninvited guest.
She and Yara seemed to have a good time chatting over tea in the lobby.
When she saw me, Yara smiled and waved at me. âClara, youâre back! Olivia and I were just talking about you!â
I frowned. It was uncomfortably hypocritical.
Olivia wore an ethnic white cotton dress with her hair pulled up, making her look youthful and girly.
âClara, youâre home,â she said, smiling when she saw me. âItâs cold outside. Come and have a hot cup of tea with us!â
I pursed my lips and looked at them with no expression on my face. âNo, Iâm good. You guys go on. Iâm gonna have a rest.â
âDonât rush off, Sweet. Come and sit with us for a while. Iâve been running around Gibsonsâ all these years, and Iâve never sat down and talked to anyone like this, so it just so happens everyoneâs here, so why donât you join us?â
Sometimes I admired Yara for her hypocrisy, she could really can go with the flow.
Since she said so, I had no reason to refuse, so I walked to the sitting-room and sat down.
As Yara made tea and Olivia smiled, the scene was eerily harmonious at first glance.
It was as if the three of us were supposed to be good friends, but only we knew otherwise.
After making tea, Yara said softly, âThe most classic part of the tea ceremony is to smell the aroma. But people today are impatient and often forget this step. Letâs take our time today. Smell the teacup.
Does it smell good? This is ten years old tea, no matter how rich you are, it is difficult to buy such a good tea!â
I had no interest in the tea ceremony, so I slowly held the cup and smelled it. It smelled good, but it was late at night. Was it ok to drink tea at midnight?
Olivia was elegant and smiled as she sniffed at the teacup, âThis tea is really excellent. I just smelled it and itâs already intoxicating. Iâm starting to look forward to it.â
Yara smiled, divided cups of tea, and said gracefully, âPlease taste it!â
I just took a sip and stopped. Olivia laughed. âThis is really good tea!â
I admired them both for their leisure and elegance at midnight tea.
Seeing that I was only taking a sip, Yara said, âDon't you like it?â
I shook my head and said lightly, âNo, itâs just that Iâm not used to drinking tea at night, and if I drink too much, I wonât be able to fall asleep!â
She nodded and laughed. âHow about something else?â
I shook my head and refused, âNo, itâs late. You continue to drink, Iâll go upstairs to rest.â
The engine stalled outside the yard. âSounds like Dennis,â Yara said with a smile.
As soon as she finished, Dennis came in with the car keys, put them on the shoe counter, and looked up.
When he saw Olivia, he frowned and said nothing, but gave me a clear look and said, âHave you had dinner yet?â
I nodded and prepared to go upstairs.
He walked so fast that he caught up with me after I had walked a few steps. He put his arm around me and said, âWhat did you do today? Anything interesting you want to talk about?â
I shook my head, feeling faint.
âDennis!â Suddenly Oliviaâs soft voice came out.
Dennis looked at her and said flatly, âItâs getting late. Arenât you going to get some rest, Miss Pearson?â
That was a pretty obvious way to get rid of a guest.
Olivia blanched for a moment and whispered, âWhen I got here...â
Please Love Me, Mr. George ï¤Chapter 231 Half Enemy Yara 3 She seemed embarrassed to say it, but Yara said, âOlivia came without a driver. She came with me. It was very late now, and it was not safe for her to go back alone by a girl, so let her stay and go back tomorrow.â lightnoveldaily.com
