The atmosphere in the stadium was electric, the crowd roaring as the Barcelona women's team took the field for their highly anticipated match. Gianna stood on the edge of the pitch, her eyes scanning the opposing team with a determined focus. She could feel the weight of the moment-this match could be a defining one for her career. But there was something else in the air today, a thrill that only came when you had something-someone-important watching from the stands.
Hector.
She caught a glimpse of him standing near the sidelines, leaning casually against the railing with his arms crossed, his eyes fixed on her. Their gaze locked for just a second, and Gianna couldn't help the flutter in her chest. It was as if everything around her faded away, leaving only the game and the feeling of him there, supporting her.
The whistle blew, and the match began. Gianna was in the zone, her movements quick and precise, her every touch a step closer to making her mark. The ball was passed to her near the midfield, and with a flick of her foot, she sent it soaring toward the goal, her heart in her throat.
It was the perfect strike.
The crowd erupted as the ball hit the back of the net with a satisfying thud. Gianna's teammates rushed to her, celebrating her opening goal, but Gianna's eyes immediately flicked to the stands where Hector stood, his proud smile lighting up his face.
"First goal for Barcelona today! Gianna Guiu opens the scoring!" the commentator's voice boomed over the speakers. "What a shot, what a player! But the question is-how many more can she add to her tally today?"
The match continued with intensity, both teams battling fiercely for possession, but it was clear that Barcelona was gaining the upper hand. Gianna's confidence grew with every minute that ticked by, and soon enough, the ball found its way to her again.
This time, she was closer to the goal-just outside the penalty box, surrounded by defenders, but she wasn't backing down. The tension in the stadium was palpable as she sized up the shot. Hector's face flashed in her mind again, his encouraging presence pushing her forward.
In a single, fluid motion, Gianna darted past a defender, swerved around another, and shot. The ball flew toward the far corner of the net, impossible for the goalkeeper to reach. It was another perfect goal.
The stadium exploded into wild cheers as the ball hit the back of the net for her second time. This goal was different, though. As soon as she saw the ball go in, Gianna didn't hesitate. She turned to the stands, eyes locking onto Hector's once more.
With a smirk on her face, she winked.
The crowd went wild, the energy in the stadium reaching a fever pitch as fans jumped to their feet, chanting and clapping. The commentators couldn't contain their excitement.
"Two goals for Guiu! And look at that! A cheeky wink to her... someone special in the stands! Is there a little romance brewing here?" the commentator joked, his voice cracking with enthusiasm. "She's on fire today, folks, and it's clear she's got some extra motivation behind those strikes!"
Hector, caught off guard, grinned widely, his hands raised in a mock cheer. He blew her a kiss from across the field, and Gianna's heart raced with the shared moment. She felt like the whole world was cheering her on-not just for the goals, but for every little step that had led to this point.
As her teammates gathered around her, cheering and clapping, Gianna's smile didn't fade. She could still feel Hector's gaze, steady and encouraging, just like always. The crowd's roar felt like a distant hum in her ears, drowned out by the pounding of her heart.
"That's my girl!" Cienna shouted, sprinting over to give Gianna a congratulatory hug.
Gianna laughed, a bright, wide grin plastered across her face as she pulled Cienna into the celebration.
"Two goals, Gigi!" Cienna said, her eyes sparkling. "I think you just made the whole stadium fall in love with you, and Hector, too."
Gianna couldn't help but blush, but she felt on top of the world. The rush of scoring-twice-was still overwhelming, and the wink, the connection she shared with Hector, made it all feel even more special.
The game went on, but Gianna knew it would be a match she would never forget. And as the final whistle blew, marking Barcelona's victory, she couldn't stop thinking about Hector-his proud smile, the wink she'd sent his way, and the feeling that maybe, just maybe, they were on the same page now.
