The living room was quiet except for the soft hum of the television. Gianna and Hector were lounging on the couch, the late afternoon light streaming through the windows. Gianna sat perched on Hector's lap, her legs straddling his waist as she ran her fingers through his hair, smiling lazily at him. He was leaning back against the armrest, his hands resting on her waist, the air between them charged with an unspoken tension.
"You sure you don't mind me staying here?" Gianna asked, her voice soft as she traced small circles on his shoulder.
"I wouldn't want it any other way," Hector replied, his voice low and warm. He shifted slightly, pulling her a little closer as their eyes locked.
Gianna felt her heart race, the intensity of their closeness sending a rush of heat to her cheeks. She couldn't help herself-she leaned in slowly, lips brushing against his, testing the waters before pressing into the kiss more deeply. It was soft at first, tentative, but then it deepened as she felt Hector respond eagerly, his hands gripping her hips.
The moment was sweet and stolen, a quiet promise between them. Neither of them noticed the front door creak open.
"Gigi, I-" Cienna's voice rang through the room, freezing both of them in place.
Gianna's eyes shot wide open as she pulled away quickly, her face turning a deep shade of crimson. Hector chuckled softly, looking equally surprised but amused, his fingers still resting on her hips. Gianna scrambled to sit back on the couch, her hands in her lap as she shot a nervous glance at Cienna, who was standing in the doorway with her arms crossed, a sly grin on her face.
"Please tell me I'm not interrupting anything important," Cienna said, raising an eyebrow.
Gianna groaned, covering her face with her hands. "Cici, don't you knock?"
"I did!" Cienna protested with a laugh. "But I guess the door was already open. I didn't expect a full-on show." She raised her eyebrows teasingly as she leaned against the doorframe.
Gianna's heart was still racing, her embarrassment written all over her face. She couldn't meet Cienna's eyes. "Can't you just pretend you didn't see that?"
"Not a chance, Gigi," Cienna replied, a mischievous twinkle in her eye. "You two are way too cute. I mean, look at you! I knew it was coming, but now that I've seen it... I gotta say, I'm kind of jealous. That was some serious chemistry."
Hector snickered, his arm now casually draped across the back of the couch. "We don't need to make it a spectacle, Cici," he teased.
"Oh, but you do," Cienna said, stepping further into the room and plopping down on the armchair across from them. "This is pure gold, Gigi. I'm gonna need to hear all the details."
Gianna buried her face in her hands. "Cici, please." She was mortified, but there was a part of her that couldn't help but smile at Cienna's teasing.
Cienna grinned, clearly enjoying her best friend's discomfort. "Okay, okay, I won't pry. But I just want to know one thing. Was it as good as I'm imagining?"
Gianna rolled her eyes, but Hector's easy laughter made her relax a little. She finally looked up at Cienna, her cheeks still flushed but the tension easing between them. "You're impossible, you know that?"
Cienna gave her an innocent shrug, her smile wide. "Just looking out for my girl. You two are cute together. It's obvious to everyone."
Gianna shot Hector a sidelong glance, and for a moment, everything felt easy again.
"Guess the secret's out now," Hector said, his voice teasing but also warm, his hand giving Gianna's knee a gentle squeeze.
"Looks like it," Gianna admitted with a small smile, the blush on her face softening as she turned back to Cienna. "Don't go spreading this around, okay?"
Cienna held up her hands in mock surrender. "Your secret is safe with me... for now." She gave them both a wink. "But next time, maybe warn a girl before you start making out in front of the TV."
Gianna groaned, but Hector only chuckled, his arm now comfortably around her shoulders.
"Sorry, Cici," Gianna said, rolling her eyes, but the smile on her face betrayed her. "We'll be more careful next time."
"Good," Cienna replied with a sly smile. "But just know, you two are the talk of the town now. Get used to it."
Gianna sank back against Hector, shaking her head, feeling the weight of her embarrassment slowly fade as the three of them fell into an easy conversation. For the first time, Gianna realized-this was just the beginning, and whatever happened, she knew they could handle it, together.
