Chapter 7:
Zayn POV:
The clock's arms marked around 1 in the morning and Harry's house was still packed. I swerved through people and ended up pushing people away since they didn't even budge. I tried searching for her but she wasn't anywhere to be found; last time I saw her was around an hour ago and she was dancing with Louis to You Got Me Good by Ciara. She was laughing, her face brightened up with a smile, her eyes glowing in the darkness but whenever a boys' hand touched her she would flinch away and move away.
A pair of fingers wrapped around my wrist and turned me around. I came face to face with Sophia's blue eyes. She smiled and tilted her head backwards and burst into uncontrollable fits of laughter. I rolled my eyes and grabbed her hand and dragged her away from any harm. She was drunk and who knows what she would do. Even though I didn't like her in a way I was expected to, I still sort of cared about her. Well not really but I've known her from a young age and, yet again, I was expected to care for her too.
"I'm gonna throw up," I heard her say and my eyes suddenly widened. Vomit is the one thing that I hated, I mean who doesn't? But I was one that if I saw a person starting to get dizzy, I would get dizzy. If I saw blood, I would get dizzy immediately. If I saw someone vomit or say that they're gonna vomit, I would vomit before them. I grabbed her wrist and dragged her towards the kitchen's sink and by the time we made it to the sink she was clearing her entire stomach out. I flinched and made a face.
"I'll take care of her," Amber, her best friend, announced from behind me. She grabbed her friend and said soothing words to her friend.
"Yeah, you do whatever you have to do, I'm gonna go vomit myself," I replied and quickly left the kitchen and into the stuffy house. I breathed out and again attempted to swerve through people. I spotted a blonde head with huge green clover glasses. I chuckled and made my way towards Niall and Jesy.
"Zaynie!" Niall yelled and hugged me tightly.
And he's drunk. I thought to myself. Could I possibly be the only one that didn't take more than a four cups of alcohol today?
Jesy rolled her eyes and gave me an apologizing smile. "Guess you didn't drink either?"
I shook my head. "Not really in the mood for a party. Have you seen the others?"
"Louis was over there a couple of minutes ago," she replied, yelling a bit over the loud music, nodding her head towards the middle of the sitting room. I turned my head around and noticed him dancing with some girl. "Liam went back home around ten minutes ago since he had a huge head ache, Harry is well doing whatever Harry loves to do at party," she said and rolled her eyes. "Niall is drunk as ever, Lenni stayed home, Sophia is-"
"Vomiting in the kitchen sink and Amber's helping her," I replied and she nodded. "What about Hazel?" I asked her after a slight hesitation.
She looked up at me, surprised that I was asking for her. They all knew that we were both family enemies but we are at least on talking terms instead of her avoiding me. "She's outside on the pool area, no ones out there it's freezing."
I nodded and turned around to go and find her but Jesy's hand stopped me. "She's not a toy Zayn, remember that."
I furrowed my eyebrows at her, confused. I decided to ignore it and swerved through people. Luckily the back side of the house only consisted of a couple or two making out in the dark. I pushed open the door that led to the pool area and instantly shivered due to the freezing air outside but there she was. Sitting down on the steps, she instantly turned her head and her eyes slightly narrowed when she noticed who it was. She looked away and hugged her knees, not bothering to say something. I sighed, went down the few steps and sat down next to her. She was shivering uncontrollably and I felt bad for her.
"You want my jacket?" I asked her breaking the silence. She shook her head and rested her forehead on her arms that were resting on her knees.
"You're only wearing a shirt under neat," she said her teeth chattering making a 'clink' noise.
"So are you," I replied and she made a 'Ha' sound. "Let's go inside it's warmer."
"And sweatier, I'd rather stay out here," she replied and she had a point. "Where's Harry anyway?"
I opened my mouth to reply but closed it again, I furrowed my eyebrows together and she lifted her head to look at me. "Upstairs," I said my voice trailing off quietly.
"Awesome!" she said sarcastically. She bit her lip, looked up at me and sighed. "I'm going home."
She stood up and straightened her skirt out before turning to climb the stairs. I stood up and grabbed her wrist turning her around. "You said you couldn't forgive my family for whatever they did, right?" I asked her my breath coming out in a white puff due to how cold it was.
She nodded slightly and I smiled sadly, inching my face a bit closer. "I hope you'll forgive me for this though."
I closed the gap and crashed my lips against her soft ones. She didn't move and when I was going to pull away her lips moved and they started to move in sync with mine but after a very few seconds she pulled away her eyes wide. She gulped and move a step backwards, she slowly backed away from me and towards the door, away from me. I wanted to say something but no words came out of my mouth.
"You shouldn't have done that," she whispered and turned around to open the back door but someone else opened it. Jesy appeared, looked at Hazel then at me. "I have to go, bye Jesy."
"Bye," Jesy replied with a smile. Hazel looked at me once more and entered inside. Jesy looked at me with an 'I-Told-You-So' look. She closed the back door and looked at me in a mother sort of way. "I told you she's not a toy, Zayn!"
"I only kissed her!"
"You have a girlfriend!" she said her eyes wide. "Are you even aware of that or is she a toy, too!?"
"I'm only with Sophie because people expect me to be with her Jes and you know that well! If it was for me I would be dating a girl I really like and not because she's popular or whatever at school and because three quarters of the the school expect me to be with her!"
She sighed and looked at me. "You only have to break up with her."
"Oh, yeah, sure, piece of cake!" I said sarcastically. "She'll go mental and probably come crying on my porch!"
She scrunched her face a bit then nodded agreeing with what I just said. She sighed and shrugged.
"I know she hates me Jes, but I really like her and if I see her with someone ... I don't know I just can't bare to witness that!"
She slightly tilted her head to one side and looked at me with a soft expression. "This is the 'Zayn' that people need to see and not the one you act to be. If you want her to be yours you can't just snap your fingers together and bam! she's yours. You have to work hard to get a girl like her, she deserves the best and Sophia doesn't deserve you Zayn, you're too good for a girl like her. I'll help."
I looked at her my eyebrows furrowed together, confused. "Help me?"
"With Hazel," she replied and turned around, opening the back door and leaving with a goodbye.
After a few seconds of the events that just happened a few minutes ago, I found myself smiling but Iwas too caught up to not realise a blonde headed watching everything.
Hazel POV:
I had no idea how I left the party and walked it home alone without getting hit by a car or kidnapped. I slammed the front door shut and turned the lock, throwing the keys on the floor, kicked off my boots on the floor next to the front door. I walked in the kitchen and poured myself a glass of water, I drank it in one go. I left the kitchen and climbed upstairs, not bothering to close my bedroom door since no one was actually home. I took all of my clothes of until I was left with my bra and underwear. I grabbed a white over sized shirt and slipped into it, reaching my mid-thigh. I got into my bed and stared up at the ceiling. My fingers touched my lips and a faint smile formed on my lips, my lips had a tingly feeling and I just couldn't get rid of it.
Zayn Malik, my sworn family enemy, had just taken away my first kiss just like that and I didn't regret it.

The next morning my alarm clock was buzzing so loud in my ears and when I noticed the time my eyes flew open and I quickly started getting dressed into my school uniform. It was already 9 o'clock and school started an hour ago.
"Shit shit shit shit!" I said through gritted teeth. I pulled my hair into a high pony tail, cleaned my face quickly with a face wipe and applied some basic make up as quick as I could, grabbed my bag and ran out of the house in a swift. Where it took me around fifteen minutes to arrive to school, it took me only five minutes to arrive and it was already 10:20 by the time I made it to school. That, my dear friend, is one hell of a record.
I pushed open the front doors to the school, I ran through the empty corridors and almost tripped over my own shoes when I heard a voice yelling at me to stop. I winced and turned around and came face to face with the assistand head, Ms Wilson was walking towards me, her back straight, her shoes making a 'clack clack' sound in the corridors due to her thick heel.
"Ms Anderson, may I ask you why you're late?" she asked me coldly.
"Didn't hear the alarm clock," I replied.
She rolled her eyes and handed me a detention slip for being late and a notice slip so that I could be accepted into class. She turned on her heel and muttered something close to 'Excuses, excuses!'
I rolled my eyes and turned back around, quickly climbed two storeys of stairs and ran towards art class. I stopped in front of the door and took in quick deep breaths to calm myself down. After a few deep breaths I pushed open the door and all eyes turned to me. I ignored them and walked towards the art teacher handing him my notice slip. He took it and I walked towards the back row, taking my stuff from the table on one side were the students portfolios were kept. I took my current work out and sat down in my usual seat, two seats away from Zayn. I felt his eyes on me and could hear him talking with Louis and Liam.
The bell rang and I walked out of class, not bothering to wait for them and I wanted to avoid Zayn, at least for now. I went down to gym and entered the girls changing rooms, smiling at Jesy and Lenni but Amber only sent me death glares, Sophia wasn't in here probably still sleeping at home or she just bothered to not show up. After changing into the pe kit, we went outside and found that the boys were there again.
"Today we're gonna pair up, boy and girl. Football," the coach announced, looking down at his clipboard. "Jesy and Niall, Anna and Craig, Ylenia and Liam," he continued to pair people up and in the end, Zayn and I were the only two left. "Enjoy!"
Could life be any harder right now? I breathed out heavily while Zayn went to get a ball. He came jogging towards me, lightly kicking the ball in front of him. He gave it a heavy kick and I stopped it, kicking it back towards him. He stopped it with the tip of his foot and looked up at me, impressed. I was sort of angry at him, it wasn't fair on Sophia even if she was a bitch. No girl deserves to be cheated on and I felt guilty because I kissed him back which makes me part of the situation even more.
"You pass it with the side of your shoe, not the tip or else you're gonna break your toes," he instructed. He passed me the ball and I passed it back to him like he instructed. "Bingo."
I rolled my eyes and we continued doing this for a couple more seconds before he broke the silence. "Sorry for last night."
I looked up at him, looking at him curiously. "You're not sorry."
His eyebrows raised slightly and blinked. "I'm not sorry I kissed you, I'm sorry because-"
"If you want to be sorry, be sorry because you cheated Zayn," I replied and kicked the ball hard and he had to catch it with his hands. "Amber is giving you a creepy look."
He arched an eyebrow and turned his head round, looking at Amber. She was giving the both of us death glares, he awkwardly turned to look back at me. We both had the same look but Zayn looked a bit worried.
"Something tells me she knows," I said flatly.
"Yeah, maybe I should tell Sophia before she tells her if she really does know."
I nodded and the bell rang, signalling break. Without another word I turned around and entered the girls changing room, walking towards my locker which was across Amber's. I turned the lock and took out the shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, I took the towel from my locker and slammed the door shut. I took off my pe kit and entered one of the many shower cubicles that the girls changing rooms had. After drying up and chaning inside, I left the cubicle and walked towards the locker in the changing rooms. Some of the girls were only wrapped in a towel, changing in front of others whereas others where already in their uniforms waiting for their friends to finish. I opened my locker to dump my stuff inside when a note fell. I bent to pick it up and opened it.
Leave Zayn alone. He's Sophia's and not yours. <3 xoxo ~Berry
I raised an eyebrow at the way Amber had signed the note. I crumpled the paper in my hands and slammed the locker shut.
"Hazel! You coming or what?" Lenni asked me from the door.
"Yeah, coming," I replied and grabbed my bag and left the changing rooms with Jesy and Lenni.
When we arrived in the cafeteria, we lined up to get our food then we walked to their usual table which was on the other side of the cafeteria. I sat down next to Liam and a few minutes later the rest came and ended up between Liam and Zayn. I dropped the crumpled paper on his tray. He looked at me questioningly before opening it.
"Berry?" he asked in a 'What the fuck?' tone.
"You have to tell her," I replied and he groaned.
"After school," he replied and I nodded.
I looked up and met Jesy's eyes. She was looking at me curiously and a soft expression was on her face. When she noticed I was looking at her, she quickly looked away and took a bite from her burger. I looked at her curiously and felt a weird churning in my stomach like I was supposed to know something but obviously I didn't. Lunch went painfully slowly and I was starting to suffocate in the huge closed room filled with students chattering. I ran a hand through my wet hair and started feeling dizzy. I bit my lip and stood up and walked out of the cafeteria, hearing my name being called but I couldn't make out who it was since my ears were popping and blocked out any sound from being heard.
I pushed open the cafeteria doors and ran towards the girls bathroom. I walked towards the sink, opened the tap and splashed my face with cold water. I closed the tap and stood up straight and rubbed my eyes to remove the excess water but regretted it when I opened my eyes.
Sophia, Amber and two other blonde girls had formed a semi circle around me with Sophia in the middle a bitch smirk on her face.
"This is for making out with my boyfriend, slut!" Sophia said through gritted teeth and her hand made contact with my face.
