Chapter 4:

Hazel POV:

You know, waking up at 6 in the morning isn't my thing. So I ended up sleeping till 7.15. I can tell you one thing for sure, Zayn was not happy waiting for me for ten more minutes. It was actually hilarious, when I went down the driveway he looked ice cold and when I saw his look, I just wanted to burst out laughing.

I actually looked good in a uniform, though I hated the blazer. I pulled my skirt above my knees but not too short that my ass would show, a white blouse, tie, blazer, black ballerinas and black tights. What a sexy uniform, I must say. Couldn't they have done it a bit more nicer?

We started walking in silence and after a few minutes Zayn stopped suddenly turning on his right and walking up a driveway to another large house. I furrowed my eyebrows at his back and walked after him.

"Where are we going?" I asked him.

He breathed out noisily and rang the doorbell without answering me.

"Zayn!?" I asked, my voice getting a bit louder. Before he could answer the front door opened and a curly haired boy came into view. When he saw Zayn his face brightened and he gave him the usual man hugs boys do. I arched an eyebrow at the both of them and silently cleared my throat but they both heard me and turned around to look at me. The curly haired boy's eyes slightly widened and Zayn studied me curiously, as though reading me like an open book which I wasn't.

"Haz this is Hazel, Hazel this is Harry," Zayn introduced us and he took a hand out and I took mine out and he shook it shortly then smiled at me. I managed to muster up a smile but it soon faded away. "Got everything Haz?"

Harry nodded and grabbed his backpack from next to the front door and slung it over one shoulder and closed the door. We continued walking, Zayn and Harry chatting all the time while I stood on the side feeling awkward.

Why couldn't my parents just drive me to my first time at school? Why couldn't they be like all the other normal parents? But no. Work was much more important than their only child and making sure she was okay and doing fine. I started chewing on my bottom lip, a habit of mine when I was anxious or excited or worried. I wasn't even taking any notice of what they were talking. I was too busy thinking on what was going to happen today; with who was I supposed to stay with during lunch time? Was it going to go smooth or was I going to mess everything up like I usually do?

"Does she talk?" I heard Harry whisper to Zayn and I rolled my eyes at him.

"Yes, I do," I replied and they both fell silent.

We continued walking and after around five more minutes we came into view of the school. I inhaled in a  quick breath as I shivered. Zayn probably noticed because he smiled a tiny smile.

"You still have to register?" Harry asked me timidly, afraid that I was probably going to snap at him.

"Yeah, don't know where though," I replied as we continued walking, girls staring at Zayn and Harry, I could see them drooling at them and then they noticed me with them and sent me daggers. "Why are people looking?"

They both chuckled and Zayn smirked. "You can say that we're the popular-ish group in the school," Harry replied and winked at a girl, her face turning bright red.

I rolled my eyes and forced myself from smiling. "Any who, where's the office or secretary?"

Before one of them could reply, a scream stopped them.

"BABY!" a blond haired girl screamed and ran towards us and jumped on Zayn, wrapping her legs around his waist and smashing her lips onto his. His eyes widened at her sudden actions, he stumbled a bit backwards but quickly recovered, placing his hands beneath her thighs to hold her steady and kissed her back.

I arched an eyebrow at the both of them, then felt a hand around my wrist. I turned my head and noticed Harry looking at Zayn and the blond chick, then looked at me and smiled. "Let's get you registered."

I smiled and nodded. We walked up towards the school's front doors but a yell stopped us, this time coming from a guy with an Irish accent. "Hazza! You got a new girl I see?"

I turned on my left and noticed a blond haired boy approaching us with a smirk, I raised an eyebrow at him. "You're the popular player, I see?" I asked him, a smirk playing on lips.

Harry chuckled and shrugged. "Hazel this is Niall, Niall this is Hazel, Zayn's new neighbour but he is currently busy," he trailed off his eyes travelling towards Zayn and the blond chick still kissing. He looked back at Niall and shrugged.

"So she's not a new chick?" Niall asked with a laugh and Harry shook his head. "Nice to meet you Hazel."

"Nice to meet you too," I replied and found myself smiling at him.

"I'll catch you two later, Jesy is waiting for me," Niall stated with a wink and Harry's lips twitched into a smirk. "Bye!"

Harry shook his head and turned around, pushing the front doors open and I followed behind me. A huge corridor lined with lockers and then some turns, doors were coloured blue, green, purple and yellow and they sort of gave the corridors some sort of life. When Harry entered the school and stood next to me, he grabbed my hand and walked through the corridor. I felt my cheeks heathen up a bit, he was a cute guy and the dimples, hair and eyes complimented his features perfectly. Girls stared at the both of us, jealousy written over their faces.

They think you're with him, dork.

My eyes widened and I slowly took my hand out of his. I heard him chuckle and turned a corner and we started descending down the stairs.

"Why can't they stop staring?" I asked, starting to get irritated.

"Get used to it if you're going to start hanging with us love," he replied and I furrowed my eyebrows at him.

"Hang out with 'us'?" I asked him air quoting.

He didn't get to respond because he knocked on a door with the sign 'Reception' stuck to the wall next to the door. "Right, so I have to go find Louis, I'll see you at lunch okay?"

"I guess so," I said and he smiled, which I returned.

He said his goodbye and turned around and walked casually, girls casually looking at him trying not get noticed but he turned his head half way and I noticed his flirtatious smirk on his lips. I had only just met the kid and I knew he was the school's popular player but I knew that he wasn't that kind of guy that just played with your heart and dumped you like that. I turned around and pushed open the door to find a receptionist behind a desk, a few chairs on one side and guy sitting lazily on one of the chair looking as bored as ever. He looked like the rebellious kids, even the way he was wearing his uniform said it all. A door on the other side opened and a man with a suit stood inside and another boy, his uniform as perfect as ever and a pair of glasses on his nose. He looked at the guy sitting on the chair and quickly ran out of the room before peeing himself. The guy on the chair chuckled before standing up and walking inside what I'm guessing is the Prinicipal's office. The door closed and I heard someone clearing their throat; my eyes landed on the receptionist and looked up and down my uniform, looking disapprovingly at my skirt.

I walked over and rested my arms on the desk, looking at her with a smile. "I need to register in the school please."

"Name?" she asked, sounding professional.

"Hazel Anderson."

She looked at a file and nodded. "Yes, Principal Edwards told me a new student was expected. Just fill in this form, choose the subjects, this is your locker number and code and you're all set to go."

"What about books and supplies for art?" I asked her as I took the paper and pen she handed me.

"Books are given by the school, during the lesson and so are art supplies if you'd like to choose art," she explained, patiently waiting for me to fill in. After choosing the subjects, I handed them to her and after around five minutes she handed me my timetable and I left the office. I looked at my timetable and read the first lesson: Art, Art Room Number 43. I sighed and looked around the corridor. I spotted a few doors, reading the number 22, 23, 24 and 25.

I stepped backwards and hit someone. I spun around and saw the same guy with the glasses that came out of the Principal's office. "Sorry," I apologized and he shrugged.

Before he continued walking, I asked him if he knew where Art Room was.

"Yeah, um, it's up the stairs, turn on your left and fourth door on your left, it's huge and you can't miss it," he explains with a smile then continues walking in the direction he was going before I hit him. I walked back towards the stairs that Harry and I had came down from, I climbed upwards and turned on my left and started counting down the doors. I stood in front a blue door with a huge see through window on the side, showing tables lined up and students sitting down on the chairs, some continuing on their work and other just chatting before the bell rang. I opened the door, pushing it open and entering the classroom feeling eyes on me.

I noticed the teacher's desk on the far end of the room, a middle aged man was sitting down on the chair, looking over some papers. I walked towards the desk and when he heard my footsteps he looked up and straightened a bit when I handed him a note. He read it and nodded.

"Class, we have a new student, welcome her nicely," he announced and turned to look at me with a smile. "Supplies are on that shelf over there, take any seat you like."

I turned around to look at the class, the majority had continued with their work or chatting with their friends. The first, second and third rows were all full except for one in the middle of the second row between two girls. The last row had seven seats, three were occupied; three boys and I wanted to groan out loud when I noticed one of them. He was smirking, making it clear that he had noticed me and that only the fourth row had empty seats.

Dear Lord, please kill me. Hesitantly I started walking towards the back, I walked past the three boys and took a seat, separating me from him with only three seats. I sat down and the bell rang.

"Okay class, let's continue with the scary ghost person sketch, remember it's part of the assessments in next February," the teacher announced.

Everyone continued their sketches while I looked around, trying to figure out what I had to do. After a few minutes, I breathed out heavily and heard someone chuckle. I looked on my right and noticed him chuckling, then looked up at me.

"What's your problem?" I asked him.

A girl turned around, looked at me then at Zayn her eyes widened when she noticed I was addressing her God in that way. Zayn looked at her briefly and she blushed and continued with her work.

"You do realise you have to get a paper and pencil, right?" he asked, cocking an eyebrow at me.

I rolled my eyes, stood up and walked over towards the cabinet taking a thick A3 paper and one of the pencils. I sat down on the chair again, chewing on my lip thinking on how to start it.

I've done art since I was five years old and never stopped practising it. I looked over at Zayn's sketch and had to admit that it was pretty good. I grabbed the pencil and started with the face's landscape, then the features of the face. I had just finished the face's complexion and the hair when the bell rang. I placed the paper in my bag, the pencil back in its place and took the timetable out of my bag and read over the time table.

Double PE.

"Zayn come on we have to go!" one of the boy's from the door yelled. He had his hair straightened but it was short. I looked up at him, then to my right were Zayn was.

"Go, I'll come in a second," he replied standing up and walking towards me.

The boy sighed and left the room. I pushed the chair inside the table and turned on my left, avoiding Zayn.

"What class are you in?" I heard him ask before leaving the classroom. He walked behind me, grabbing the paper from my hands from behind me. I turned around trying to snatch it back out. "Double PE. You're with me then."

I arched an eyebrow at him and rolled my eyes. "Shouldn't I feel so lucky?" I asked in sarcasm.

He shrugged while placing a hand on my back and pushed me out of the room and down the corridor. I moved to the side, getting away from his hand. He walked next to me, leading the way while walking next to me and some more students looked at us curiously, then at Zayn their eyes wide.

I heard a girl whispering to her friends something about cheating with someone Sophia? I didn't catch the name correctly. Zayn turned a corner and within a few seconds he pushed open large doors and walking across the gym room. It was huge with wooden bleachers on both sides, the score panel on one side and another door on the other side of the huge room. The room was covered in floorboards and currently their was a volleyball net being set up by the gym teacher and an older woman. Zayn nodded towards the gym teacher and smiled, the teacher returned the smile and continued putting up the net.

He pushed open the single door on the other side and it was a tiny corridor with a door on one side and another door on the other; the first one had a cartoon boy on it and the other a cartoon girl. Without a thank you, I pushed open the door and came into view of a bunch of purple lockers and girls changing. They all looked at me, some eyeing me curiously while others just eyed me up and down.

Locker number 16. I walked forwards and searched the numbers of lockers before stopping in front of locker number 16. I turned the lock and dumped my bag inside taking out my PE uniform. I took off my skirt, tights and shoes and slipped into my short black shorts, ankle length socks and slipping on my black Nike slippers. I took off my jersey and put on the purple shirt, pulling my hair up in a messy bun. I shivered and decided to put on the black jacket.

The door opened and the woman from the gym came inside, clapping her hands together.

"Okay ladies, Volleyball for today and unfortunately from now on with the boys since your gym teacher is pregnant," she announced and the girls groaned. "Let's go ladies!"

Lockers slammed shut and they all walked out of the room, while I followed them. The boys were already sitting down on the benches when we came in, some of them wearing shorts but the 'cool kids' were wearing loose fitted trousers, including Zayn. He was sitting down with four other boys; Harry and Niall for sure and the two others from Art class.

"Everyone gather around!" the gym teacher yelled and the boys slowly stood up and walked towards the centre where the teacher was. "Volleyball for today, we all did it last year and you better hope that you still remember how to play it. First to play from the boys are," he said and looked down at his clipboard his eyes eyeing down the columns with names. "Jack, Louis, Liam, Niall, Harry and Zayn!"

Zayn together with the five other boys walked towards one side of the net and talked over who was going to stay in which position.

"From the girls I'd like Jesy, Ylenia, Amber, Sophia, Geraldine and Hazel Anderson?" he said, asking the last name.

"Coach, it's Lenni not Ylenia!" a girl said, sounding annoyed while walking off to position herself in the middle row.

I walked forwards and slightly raised my hand, indicating it was me. I felt everyone's eyes on me. His eyes widened slightly then nodded while smiling. "Welcome to the school!"

I faked a smile and positioned myself in the front on the other side.

"Boys start!" the gym teacher yelled and blew his whistle.

Harry, which was at the back row, threw the ball in the air and hit it, then Zayn which was in front of him which was opposite me hit it and it came on our side and over my head. I heard a squeal and rolled my eyes. I turned around, with an 'Are You Serious Look'. It was the same girl that had jumped on Zayn this morning. She had a gorgeous figure, with tanned legs but the act of her being dumb was stupid.

The whistle blew. "Sophia! You have to hit the damn ball!" the gym teacher yelled at her, indicating one of his arms at her, spit flying out of his mouth. The students that were sitting down on the benches were trying to stop themselves from bursting into fits of laughter. "Boys!"

The girl next to me threw the ball onto their side and Harry caught it. He smirked and threw the ball and hit it, this time coming directly on our side and then gravity pulled it down towards me. I took in a deep breath before jumping and hitting the ball. It went over to the boys side and none of them managed to hit it before it hit the ground. I smirked and repositioned myself in my spot.

The boys gave us some hits and earned points and vice verse but all Sophia and her dear friend Amber did was squeal and run away from the soft ball. I emphasize on the word soft ball.

I caught Zayn looking at me a couple of times but I completely ignored it. He was an enemy and nothing more. I couldn't even put him under the column of liking either.

Even if I did actually start to like him, he was out of bounds or else I'd just go out of my grandparents wishes.

They would be very disappointed and that was something I didn't want to happen. Even if it meant that I would get hurt and let go of the ones that love me.
