Sorry if I wrote Zayn's sisters names wrong.
Chapter 33:
Hazel POV:
I groaned as I heaved my suitcase up the stairs at ten pm up the stairs that led to the Malik's house. I had no idea that I was moving in with them that exact night and not the next morning but apparently non of my parents where going to sleep in the bed that they used to share or anywhere in the house that they once owned together.
So my Mum was going to her sister's house in Manchester and my Dad was going to travel to Ireland since he already had to leave in a weeks time, might as well be there earlier and get the divorce done and over with.
I didn't actually understand why I had to move in with them tonight but my Dad insisted that I do so and ignored my Mum's protests.
I pulled it up the last step and breathed out heavily, rubbing my eyes and turned around when I heard the door open. Waliyah smiled up at me as she helped me pull in my luggage inside the house and up the stairs and into the guest room that I would be occupying for the next month or so.
"When are you going to get the rest of your stuff?" she asked and sat down on the bed, while I zipped open the suitcase and looked at the mess inside.
"Uh, sometime during this week," I replied and rummaged through the mess of clothes and shoes that I had piled in to try and find my pajamas. "I have to pack everything in boxes and leave them somewhere."
She nodded and breathed out. "I can help, if you want."
"Sure. Thanks," I replied with a smile.
I pulled out my pajamas from the depths of the suitcase and threw it on my bed. I breathed out heavily and sadness suddenly overwhelmed all of the other feelings that I was feeling. I bit my lip and a lump formed in my throat.
Waliyha must have noticed my sudden change of mood and quietly left without saying a single word, which I was thankful for. She understood me in some ways, even though she never experienced her parents going through a divorce.
I changed into my pajamas and emptied my suitcase, neatly folding my clothes. Well, as neat as I could through my blurred vision due to the tears. I placed them back in the suitcase and looked at the time on the digital clock next to the bed on the bedside table.
It was already close to midnight and Patricia had come in the room around half an hour ago to bid goodnight and that tomorrow morning Waliyah, Safaa and I were the only ones that where going to be in the house due to her, Yaser and Doniyah going to the audition together with Zayn, Louis, Harry, Niall, Liam and their families.
I did ask if I could go with them but there wouldn't be enough space in the car and backstage, so I was stuck in the house waiting for the results.
I breathed out heavily and switched off the lights and got into bed, trying to sleep. But I couldn't. For the past few weeks, some nights, Zayn would sneak in from his window to my window and sleep in my bed for the night and since my parents left early for work, they never woke me up to tell me that they were leaving so we would end up sleeping till noon or something. I was so accustomed to him next to me, cuddling me.
Patricia had told me that Zayn knew what happened with my parents, just not the reason why. Probably none of them knew except for Yaser and my Dad made him swear on everything that he wouldn't tell anyone else, including Patricia. She also told me that he knew that I would be living here for the next month.
After multiple times of attempting to sleep, I gave up and got out of bed. Quietly, I opened the door and tiptoed down the hallway and towards Zayn's room. I pushed the handle downwards and it made a tiny creak, then pushed it a bit open so that I could slip inside.
The room was dark but I could make out his body sprawled out on his bed. He was asleep but not that asleep. Whenever he was in a deep sleep, he usually mumbles or moves around frequently. I walked towards his bed and went down on my knees. I gave him a slight shake to try and wake him up but he didn't even stir.
I let out a silent groan and tried shaking him a bit harder. He took in a sharp intake of breath and his eyes flew open. He looked around and his eyes fell on me. His eyebrows furrowed, looking confused, his mouth slightly opened but he didn't say anything.
"What are you doing here?" he asked me in his sexy, sleepy voice.
"I can't sleep," I replied and he nodded sleepily.
He moved backwards and ended up falling out of his bed. I clamped a hand over my mouth to stop myself from laughing. He sat upright and looked at me, slightly more alert than before. He narrowed his eyes at me and groaned.
"You're mean," he mumbled, his voice deeper than usual.
"You're the one who rolled backwards," I replied with a chuckle.
He mumbled something and climbed on top of the bed, leaving space for me. I let out a tiny smile and laid down next to him. His arms automatically went around my waist, pulling me closer to him and I rested my head on his shoulder and cuddled my face in the crook of his neck.
Sleep quickly enveloped the both of us and before I knew it, I was lost in his smell and sleep.
**
"WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP! IT'S AUDITION DAY!" Niall screamed and I groaned, wanting to strangle the boy.
I tried to turn around but Zayn's body stopped me.
Fuck fuck fuck fuck.
"I feel like I'm interrupting something," I heard Liam mumble.
"What time is it?" Zayn asked, his voice still deep from sleep.
I kept my eyes closed, my face hidden against his chest.
"Six in the morning," Niall replied chirpily. "Rise and shine! It's audition daaaay!"
Zayn groaned and I felt his chest vibrate against my face. I literally wanted the bed to swallow me up and I disappear.
If Niall and Liam where here, then Louis and Harry where here too, no doubt in that. I suddenly regretted coming here at night but I couldn't sleep and my brain wasn't functioning well.
"Where are Lou and Haz?" Zayn asked, sitting up.
I pretended that I was still asleep, so my head was slightly off Zayn's pillow.
"Downstairs," Niall replied and I could practically feel his eyes on me. "How did Hazel end up in your bed?"
Oh fuck.
"Uh, she couldn't sleep," Zayn replied, getting off the bed and heard his footsteps walking out of the room, then the bathroom door closing shut.
"Well, this is awkward," Liam said, sounding uncomfortable.
I forced myself to not smile because then they would realise that I was in fact awake, and I sure as hell did not want them to know that.
"Why?" Niall asked him, sitting down on the bed.
"I told you we should have knocked first!" Liam replied, starting to panic. "What if they were doing something and we interrupted something!?"
From the tone of his voice, I knew that he was getting all worked up and worried for nothing. Zayn and I were doing nothing, obviously. The minute Zayn wrapped his arms around my waist and I rested my head against his chest, I slept instantly without a second thought.
I felt really insecure and self conscious because I was pretty sure that the both fo them were looking at me, trying to figure out why I was in Zayn's bed and here in the house and not at my house.
I rolled on the side where Zayn was, facing away from the bedroom door. I tried to sleep again but their constant mumbling and whispering didn't really help.
"Why are you two still in here?" Zayn asked Niall and Liam, his voice still sleepy and deep.
"Uh, dunno," Niall replied, shrugging. "C'mon, get dressed. We have to leave in ten minutes to get there on time and not miss our audition."
Niall and Liam left the bedroom and the door shut behind them. Zayn walked towards the door and I heard the lock turn. Then heard his footsteps walking around the room, drawers and wardrobes opening and slamming shut.
I decided to stop acting as though I was asleep, so I rolled back into the position that I was before and looked at his bare back while he rummaged through one of his drawers. He picked out a blue half sleeved top, turned around and stopped when he noticed that I was awake.
"Morning," he said while putting on his shirt and looking around for his shoes.
"Morning," I replied, yawning.
He sat down on his bed and pulled on his shoes, put his phone in his jeans pocket and stood up, looking in the mirror to fix his hair. After five minutes of him brushing and applying some gel to his hair, he turned around and looked at me.
I was extremely tired and after noticing that it was still 6 in the morning, I felt even more tired. He walked towards his bed and kneeled down in front of me.
"You slept alright?" he asked softly and I nodded.
"You?"
He nodded and I smiled. "Sorry if I woke you up yesterday."
"Nah, it's fine," he said and he gave me a sad look. "Sorry about your parents divorce."
I shrugged and looked away from his gaze, breathing out heavily. "I hate her."
He frowned and placed his fingers beneath my chin, turning my face to look at him.
"Everything happens for a reason," he replied softly. "Look on the bright side! You're going to be living with me for a month!"
He was trying to cheer me up and it was sort of working but the fact that I only had a month left with him sucked. After that month I was going to move away from here while he was going to only be an hour or more away from his home while I was going to be hours away from him. Besides, after realising how busy my subjects where going to make me and how his choices where going to make him busy, I knew that we wouldn't even keep in contact anymore.
We've had that fight many times, him saying that we would still keep in contact and me saying that we would barely talk let alone meet. It hurt knowing that and I knew that I was right, he probably knew that too but he was too stubborn to even admit it.
I mustered up a smile and shrugged. "You better go, you're gonna be late for your audition."
At the mention of their audition, his face fell and he frowned.
"What's wrong?" I asked him, furrowing my eyebrows.
He opened his mouth to say something but then clamped it shut, deciding not to. "Nothing, just nervous."
He leaned over the bed and kissed my forehead. He stood up and yawned.
"Did you buy a new phone?" he asked and I shook my head.
"I'm gonna go buy one today, so you'll be able to call me after the audition," I replied, yawning. "Call me after your audition, okay?"
"You'll be the first to know from me," he replied and I nodded, smiling.
He turned around, unlocked the door and left the bedroom, slamming the door shut. I breathed out heavily and pulled the covers over my head, trying to fall back to sleep.
**
"Waliyah?"
"In here!"
I walked through the main hall and into the living room. She was sprawled out on the sofa with her laptop on her lap. Safaa was on the floor, cris crossed watching the television.
"I'm gonna go buy some things, you guys need anything?" I asked, directing my question to the both of them.
The both of them shook their heads.
"Do you know what time the audition is?" I asked.
"Um, Mum called around ten minutes ago saying that they were waiting to get called on stage," Waliyah replied. "Why?"
"Just asking, I'll be back in a few minutes."
I walked out of the house, down the driveway and made my way towards the shops. After ten minutes, I had found the shop that I was looking for. I pushed the door open and cold air hit my skin and I shivered slightly.
I breathed out heavily and walked up towards the counter. A man around his thirties looked up at me and smiled.
"How may I help you?"
*
"How the hell does this work?" I asked, turning my new phone in my hands trying to understand how to turn it on.
When the shop assistant had turned the phone on and showed me how to turn it on, I didn't really pay any attention. I was tired and wanted to get out of there as soon as possible and find out how the XFactor audition went.
"Try pushing the lock button until it turns on," Waliyah suggested while yawning.
I frowned and did as she told me. After a few seconds, it turned on. Waliyah gave me a smug look and I narrowed my eyes at her. I did the settings that I preferred and then checked my SIM card and memory card, making sure that I still had everything. After making sure that everything was still there, the phone started beeping signalling that I had a lot of missed calls and messages that I wasn't able to look at due to my phone getting broken into pieces.
After almost an hour my phone started ringing and my new ring tone buzzed out of the phone's speaker. I literally jumped off the couch and grabbed my phone, checking the ID caller. I squealed in excitement and tried to find out how to answer the call. I slid my finger across the screen and realised that I answered it. I quickly put the phone to my ear and breathed out, waiting for the results.
"So!? How did you guys go!?" I quickly asked and heard him breath out.
Fuck.
"Are Waliyah and Safaa listening?" he asked quietly.
"Give me a minute, let me put it on speaker."
Waliyah took the phone from my hands and tapped around the screen to put it on speaker. When it was on speaker and we told Zayn that it was on speaker, we heard him breath out heavily.
"Guys," he said, sounding sad. "Do you really want to know the results?"
"Yes! Even if you didn't pass we still want to know," Safaa said, looking at the phone sadly.
"Well," he replied. "We're through to Bootcamp with four yeses!"
My jaw dropped and I looked at his sisters face expressions. Safaa's eyes were wide in excitement and she was jumping up and down. Waliyah was smiling and shaking her head while chuckling. I found myself smiling and a wave of butterflies happened in my stomach.
"We're on our way now," Zayn said after we said our congratulations and told them how extremely happy and proud of them we were.
It all felt like a blur and I couldn't believe what had just happened. I was so happy for them but I couldn't help thinking that this would change their lives if they got through Live Shows and got themselves in a good place.
I didn't want to lose Zayn. I didn't want to lose any of them. They were there for me when I moved here and had no friends. They were there for me when my grandmother died. They were there for me when Chase cheated on me with Sophia. They pushed me to do things that I never thought I would ever do. They pushed me out of my comfort zone and I was sort of thankful for that because they made me do things that I'd wanted to do but was always scared to do.
I didn't want to lose them. And more importantly, I didn't want to lose my summer love.
I seriously can't believe I waited this long to watch Glee. I've been crying for every damn episode and whenever Cory comes on, I think 'Awh, poor guy. He didn't know he'd be dying a few years later.' And the tears start.
Guuuyyysss ZAYN PROPOSED TO PERRIE! Aren't they just the cutest couple ever!? Bring on the Zerrie babies.
