Chapter 28:

Hazel POV:

To say that this wasn't going to be awkward, is a huge lie. A Malik in an Anderson house? I mean really Hazel!? Are you crazy!? I mean like, sure we're friends but that doesn't mean that my grandpa would want any Malik's roaming around in his house.

I don't even know myself why I even asked for him to come along to my journey to Leeds but then again, I felt alone and he made me feel secure. So that was probably the reason why I did ask for him to come with me.

"Do you have keys?" he asked, pulling me out of my trance.

I nodded as the taxi stopped right in front of my grandparents house. Zayn paid the taxi driver and we walked up towards the huge house. I unlocked the door and walked in, leaving the door open for Zayn to walk inside. I turned around and noticed that he was still stood on the front porch and looking a bit uncomfortable.

"Aren't you coming in?"

"Nah, I'll just stay ... out here," he replied and stepped backwards.

I rolled my eyes and gave him the 'are you serious' look. He shrugged and breathed out heavily.

"Are you sure I can come inside?"

"No but no one is even here to tell you not to. My grandma is dead and my grandpa is in hospital, so yeah."

"That doesn't make this situation any better!" he said through gritted teeth.

I smirked and shrugged. "You already came into my house, an Anderson house and I came into your house, a Malik house. There isn't much difference."

"Yes there is!" he protested.

I breathed out heavily and looked him in the eye. "Zayn. Just get in the fucking house."

He pouted and stepped in the house and I slammed the door shut behind him and walked towards the marble staircase and climbed upstairs, with Zayn following behind me and looking around curiously. I walked through the corridor and entered the guest room which was also known as my room. I looked behind me and noticed that he was still following me, I smiled and walked towards the dresser in the bedroom and placed the few clothes that I had left here into my bag and grabbed the few books that I had left on the desk.

"Was that all you needed?" he asked and I nodded while I looked around the bedroom. "Then how come we're catching the train at 7?"

"Because we're gonna visit my aunt before we leave and if there is any time we'll eat something," I replied and when I looked at him his eyes were wide.

"We're gonna visit your aunt!?"

"Well ... yeah," I replied slowly and I took a step backwards when I saw his face expression change.

"You could have told me we were going to visit more Andersons!" he yelled, his eyes wide and filled with panic.

"Well she's not technically an Anderson because she got married," I replied cautiously.

"Then how come Seth's surname is Anderson?"

"They got divorced two months ago and Seth didn't want to keep his Dad's surname so he kept his Mum's surname," I explained and he nodded and ran a hand through his hair and looked at me.

"Do I have to come?"

"Yes."

I turned around and walked out of the room and down the stairs, quickly hearing his footsteps behind me. I opened the front door and let him get out of the house before locking it shut behind the both of us.

"Are we going to call a taxi or catch a bus?" he asked as we went down the driveway.

"For what?"

"To go to your aunt's house," he replied and gave me a weird look.

"She lives across the street."

"Right," he replied and frowned slightly, I chuckled and rolled my eyes.

Idiot.

She lives ten minutes away.

**

"I thought you said she lives across the street!" he whined as I pushed the bell.

"Well, I lied."

"Mean."

"Hazel!" I heard my aunt yell in excitement from the intercom button.

I looked up and smiled at the camera that showed who had rang the bell.

"Hi!" I replied and mustered up a smile.

"Honey! Let me open the gate for you!" she replied and soon enough the gate started to slide open and I walked inside, with Zayn following me.

I heard the front door opening and saw her coming down the stairs and walked towards me with a huge smile on her face. I smiled and skipped towards her, giving her a tight hug when I approached her. She hugged me back and kissed me on the head.

"I missed you!" she mumbled into my hair and I nodded.

"I missed you, too."

She pulled away and looked behind me. Her eyes slightly widened and stepped backwards.

"Who is he?" she asked, her voice sounding flat.

"Um," I said and looked behind me. Zayn was looking back and forth between my aunt and I, his eyes wide in panic. "This is Zayn."

"Malik?" she asked, shocked.

"Yeah."

"Hazel! Why are you hanging out with a Malik!?" she fiercely whispered at me.

I rolled my eyes and gave her the 'are you serious?' look. She looked at me sternly, then gave a cold look in Zayn's direction.

"You had your own mother a Malik," I replied through gritted teeth. "I never heard you complaining about her being a Malik."

Her eyes slightly widened in shock, she opened her mouth to say something but then closed it shut.

"I didn't know you knew."

"Surprise surprise!" I replied sarcastically.

"Hazel maybe I should go," I heard Zayn say from behind me but I turned around and shook my head. Before I could say anything, my aunt bet me to it.

"No, stay. How about some tea?"

*

"So, Zayn, how old are you?" my aunt asked as she sat down on one of the bar stools opposite me.

She was trying to make some conversation with Zayn, which was a bit weird considering he looked uncomfortable.

"Seventeen," he replied and my aunt nodded.

"Hazel's age," she replied and smiled at him. "How did your GCSE's go?"

"They were ... fine," he said and looked at me, his expression begging for me to help him.

"Yeah, we're supposed to pass them," I said with a smile. "Have you heard anything from Seth?"

"No," she replied sadly. "But I checked to see if they had any activity or deaths and as far as they know, no one has died."

I nodded and breathed out heavily. "He's supposed to come for a few weeks in summer, no?"

"Yes, in a few days he's supposed to come and leave withing two weeks," she said and frowned. "So! Any plans for colleges?"

"Oxford University," I replied and she smiled.

"You always wanted to go there," she said and looked at Zayn for an answer.

"Um, I'm thinking on doing an audition at XFactor this year with the lads."

"So no more school?" she asked him. I was looking at him curiously, he never said he wanted to audition at one of the best recording studios.

"Well, I want to go to Liverpool and study there but I also want to have a singing career with my friends," he said and my aunt said something but I wasn't taking any notice of what was going on.

Did he choose a university close to home on purpose? I always wanted Oxford University because it was a good university but now, I wanted to go there because it was far away from my parents.

"Hazel always wanted to go to Oxford University, she's been saying so since she was five years old," my aunt chuckled.

I raised an eyebrow at her and Zayn smiled. "Well we better get going, it's already four in the afternoon," I said and got off the bar stool.

Zayn got off the bar stool and my aunt gave me a tight hug and shook hands with Zayn telling him it was nice to meet him. We got out of the front door and down the driveway. I waited for the gate to open and the both of us started walking down the pavement. I stayed silent, debating on whether or not I should talk about our choice of future plans but then decided against it.

"Where to now?" he asked.

"I'm craving for some McDonalds," I said and my eyes widened in excitement.

He chuckled. "McDonalds it is. Do we need a taxi?"

"No, it's only like twenty minutes away," I replied and he nodded.

During our twenty minute walk, we practically talked about nothing and I had my headphones in one of my ears while I left the other ear empty to hear if he talked to me or something, but he didn't. We entered the fast food restaurant and we walked towards the cash register. There weren't many people waiting to order and after five minutes, we were walking towards this sort of sofa seat with our trays in our hands. We sat down and Zayn instantly started eating.

I looked around the area where we were sat at and remembered a few faces.

"That guy is staring at you," Zayn commented while taking a large bite from his burger.

"What? Who?" I asked, turning my head round and tried to find the person that Zayn was looking at.

"That one over there, with his 'gang' wearing a blue shirt," he replied and I heard him sip from his drink.

I slightly narrowed my eyes and then I spotted him. I thought he had left the neighbourhood. I thought he had fucking left to go to pick up sluts and fuck them. What was he still doing here? Oh my God. What the hell!?

When our eyes met he smirked coldly and raised one of his eyebrows as though telling me 'welcome back'

My breath hitched in my throat and I quickly looked away from him and towards Zayn. When I looked back at Zayn, he was giving me a questioning look with half of the burger in his hands and stuffing his mouth with fries.

"Can we go?" I asked him quietly.

"Why?" he asked, confused.

"Zayn, please!" I quietly begged him. "I know that guy and I don't even want to be in the same room as him."

"I thought you didn't have any friends here," he replied, furrowing his eyebrows and took another bite from his burger.

"He's Seth's friend," I replied coldly and I gritted my teeth together. "Let's just go."

He shrugged and stood up. I stood up and quickly turned around and almost stumbled backwards when I noticed him walking towards us ... towards me. I quickly started to panic and knew that I was going to have a panic attack real soon if I didn't get out of this cursed restaurant. He smirked when he noticed that I was panicking and that I didn't have Seth with me.

He approached me and I took a step backwards, bumping into Zayn's strong chest.

"Welcome back to the neighbourhood, doll."
