Chapter 16:

Hazel POV:

I have no idea how I managed to walk a half hour walk to my house from the club without cursing. I hadn't seen Louis' car drive past but that was probably because I was trying to take short cuts instead of walking the same way we had come because that would have taken me an hour or more to arrive home instead of half an hour.

All the way to my house, I was thinking and trying to come to conclusions why Zayn did what he did. I mean, he knew how I felt about losing an extremely important person in my life and losing another one to the army to go fight in Iraq or Libya or wherever. I didn't want Seth to go but he was determined to go and he had always wanted to help out people in need of help, even if it meant leaving everything behind. I should have waited for this to happen.

I pushed open the gate and walked up the drive way and up the few steps. I unzipped the tiny black pocket, took out the key and unlocked the door then closed it shut behind me. I hung the key on the key holder and walked upstairs and into my room. I ignored the window and took off my clothes and put on a pair of black shorts and a blue Superman shirt. I walked out of my room and into the bathroom. I grabbed a face wipe and took off the make up, then washed it with my face liquid soap and washed my teeth. After wiping my face and mouth, I heard my phone ringing from my bedroom.

I turned off the bathroom lights and walked into my room. I flopped down on my bed and grabbed my phone from my bedside table and hit the green button when I read the ID caller, Mum.

'Yeah?' I asked while yawning. I was extremely tired after the funeral, hanging out with Seth all day with a forced smile and a real laugh one time or another and tonight's events.

'Hi sweetie pie,' she replied sweetly. Whenever she called my 'sweetie pie' with her overly-exaggerated sweet tone, she always needed something or was going to tell me something that I didn't like or want to hear.

'What do you want?' I asked sounding bored and tired.

'Right, well your father was called in for work in Ireland for two weeks and I have to go with him as well since I have some relatives in Ireland and a huge curiosity of the place and to keep your father company,' she ranted and I rolled my eyes. Same old same old, she continued. 'Any who, we had to leave tonight because we are expected to be in Ireland early morning and we only had chance to come home and pack some of our things really quickly half hour after we left.'

'Okay, um ... have fun I guess?' I asked, not sure what the big fuss about all of this was.

'And,' she continued and my eyebrows slightly rose at that one word. 'I arranged with Tricia that your will be staying with her for the upcoming two weeks with her and her family.'

'Who's Tricia?' I asked her confused.

'Patricia, Zayn's mother,' she explained, sounding as though it was the most obvious thing.

'So you arranged for me to live with the Malik's for the next two weeks!? Since when do you care where I stay whenever you're on a business trip? I've always stayed at my grandmother's house or stayed alone at home whenever you were on a business trip! Why the sudden change of heart now? After all these years, now!?'

At this point, I was yelling furiously into the phone and walking around my room while waving my free hand around the air for extra effects.

'Because! Your grandmother was a Malik before she married your grandfather! Because she wanted you to be part of them too without the family hate!' she yelled back and I raised an eyebrow at this statement.

'Then why did she tell me things to turn me against them?'

'Technically she never did, if she did because your grandfather was there but it was always your grandfather that did,' she boldly replied. 'Anyway, tomorrow first thing you when you wake up, you are to pack up and go to the Malik's. I already arranged everything with Tricia and she has accepted to keep you for the next two weeks. I will call her at around four in the afternoon to be sure that you have gone. I have to go; our plane is boarding in thirty minutes. Remember we're doing this for your own good! Bye honey!'

'Yeah, yeah, bye.' I replied and ended the call. I bit the inside of my cheeks furiously. I turned on my heel to look at my bed. I breathed in heavily and let it back out noisily. I threw my phone furiously on my bed and it luckily didn't hit the wall due to the good amount of the pillows my mother had positioned on my bed. I bit my bottom lip and felt eyes on me and I instantly knew whose eyes they were. Angrily I turned around towards the window and met a pair of tired, dark brown eyes who looked back at me.

I marched towards the window, lifted up the window and waited for him to bend downwards.

"What is your problem?!" I asked him furiously through gritted teeth.

"I don't have any problem," he simple replied, making me even more furious.

"Oh but you do. You know what your problem is!?" I said, my voice slightly rising. "You always seem to be looking at me through the window when you're not supposed to! You always seem to mess everything up for me and only think about your selfish self. So please, just fuck off."

He slightly narrowed his eyes at me and I tried to push away the thought of how sort of adorable he looked when he was starting to get pissed off.

"I'm sorry for tonight, if that's what you wanted to h-" he started off but I cut him off short.

"Stop. Just stop. I don't want to hear you apologizing or whatever because you don't mean it. You don't care about what's going on in your friends’ lives, only yours. You don't mean all of your apologies or words, Zayn. Just stop lying through your own teeth! I've only known you three weeks and you've turned my life upside down and to the worse. I'm sick of your bullshit and I already have to spend two weeks stuck in the same house as you do, so just shut up."

"We what?" he asked but I had already shut the window and drew the curtains closed and slumped down on my bed, beneath my covers and easily fell asleep.

I was done with his lies and bullshit. And I was expected to stay two weeks at the Malik's house under the same roof with him? Him!?

Oh life is sure not a cup of tea.

Zayn POV:

I barely slept and when I heard my mum cooking breakfast downstairs, I quickly got off my bed and went downstairs only wearing a pair of black sweat pants. I passed my sisters rooms and headed downstairs, my hair in a mess. I entered the kitchen and was greeted with the smell of bacon and eggs on the frying pan. I wrinkled my nose and walked up behind my mum, reached my hand over her shoulder and grabbed two slices of bread. She slightly jumped in shock when she felt me behind me.

"Don't sneak up on me like that, Zayn!" she scolded and I slightly smirked.

I placed the bread in the toaster and waited for them to pop up. Silence fell in the room and the only sound in the room was the food sizzling on the frying pan. I rubbed my eyes and yawned. I glanced over at my mum, then at the clock, then over to the toaster. I bent over the kitchen counter and checked that my toast wasn't getting burnt. Two minutes later, the toast popped out and I spread some butter over them and leaned on the kitchen counter while taking a bite from the toast.

My mum glanced over at me while she turned off the stove. She breathed out heavily and slipped the food down on two plates and placed them on the table. She turned to look at me and gave me a disapproving look.

"Why aren't you wearing a shirt?" she asked me while cocking an eyebrow at me.

I smiled cheekily and shrugged. "I always sleep without a shirt, mum."

"You can at least put on a shirt before you come down for breakfast! And we're having a visitor really soon so go put on a shirt."

"A what?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows together, confused.

"Oh, I thought I told Waliyah to tell you," she said, slightly raising her eyebrows. "Anyway, Hazel is coming over for the next two weeks because her parents are going to be in Ireland on work."

I almost choked up on the piece of toast in my mouth. "What!?"

She rolled her eyes. "She's going to stay over here for two weeks until her parents come home from Ireland."

So that's why she said she was going to be stuck in the same house as me for two weeks. I slightly furrowed my eyebrows together, thinking what the upcoming two weeks were going to be like considering what had happened between her and me yesterday. I really didn’t mean to make it look bad like I was forcing her to come but I had just thought that if she was going out tonight with Chase she would be OK going out yesterday night but I should have known. Who would want to go out the same day their grandmother was buried?

Exactly, no one. So why were I so stupid and didn’t think like this yesterday night? I knew she wouldn’t say no because her mother was there but then again, I didn’t really give her a choice because I didn’t wait for her mother to leave the room and then asking her.

But no. Being the idiot I am, I quickly acted before I lost the chance. If I had waited for her mother to leave and asking her, she could have easily said no and I would have understood her and let her stay in for the night instead. If I had waited, she wouldn’t hate me right now and we would be on good terms like we had been for the last week or so.

I sighed out noisily and heard footsteps coming down the stairs. Waliyha walked in the kitchen, her hair pulled up in a messy bun while dragging her feet towards the table and plopped herself on one of the chairs.

“Morning dear,” our mum greeted her and she looked up at her and smiled.

“Morning ma,” she replied sleepily and looked at me. “Your stomach is disgusting me, Zayn.”

I raised an eyebrow at her and looked down at my toned stomach. I looked up at her with my eyebrow still raised; I pointed at my toned stomach and looked at her.

“This glory is disgusting you?” I asked her, faking being hurt.

She rolled her eyes and nodded. “No one wants to see it.”

“You’re just jealous,” I said while smirking. “Hey where’s dad?”

“He left early for work,” my mum replied and I nodded. “Doniya slept over at her friend’s house and Safaa slept at my mother’s.”

I nodded and shivered. I arched my back and stretched my arms over my head.

“Zayn! Jesus! Put your arms down and go have a shower! I can smell your smelly pits from here,” Waliyha slightly yelled and I narrowed my eyes at her in a challenge sort of way. I knew she was lying and that she was joking but I still wanted to challenge her.

“Maybe if I came closer, you would smell them better, aye?” I asked her with an evil smirk playing on my lips.

“Don’t you dare!” she replied her eyes narrowed.

“Oops.”

I lunged towards the table and lifted my arm upwards and directed my arm pit towards her nose. She started screaming and flew out of her chair.

“Hush for a minute!” our mum scolded and I deviously smirked at my sister.

“See! I can be mean too.” I stated proudly.

“You’re too nice to be mean, big bro,” my sister replied and winked. I rolled my eyes at her. “Now go take a shower and be the good boy you are.”

I scowled at her and she tilted her head to the side and gave me her innocent smile. She was many things but she wasn’t innocent, I can tell you that.

I looked up at the clock and read the time. 11 o’clock. I rubbed my nose and walked out of the kitchen, deciding to really take a shower to set my mind off things. Off Hazel.

Before I set my feet on the stairs, the doorbell rang and I heard my mum yell for me to check who it was.

I groaned and dragged my body towards the door. I tried to arrange my hair in front of the mirror which was stationed next to the door before being seen by people. I tried to flatten my hair and pull my hair in a sideways quiff before opening the door but failed miserably at it and it probably looked a bit worse than before. I gave up on trying to arrange my hair and reached my hand to open the door. I pulled the door lock sideways and pulled the white painted wooden door open to see who had rung the doorbell.

Hazel was awkwardly standing on the front porch, a large bag slumped down on the floor next to her feet and her school bag slung over one of her shoulders. She was wearing a pair of black skinny jeans which showed off her long legs, a blue Superman hoodie and a pair of black Nike high tops the signature sign of Nike blue. Her black hair was pulled into a straight pony tail.

She looked up and her blue eyes met mine. Her eyes drifted down towards my bare chest and she cocked an eyebrow in my direction. She rolled her eyes and her head snapped behind me. I turned around and saw my mum walking towards us.

“Come on in, dear,” my mum greeted her happily. “Let me show you your room.”

Hazel grabbed her bag and walked around me, ignoring my look. Her plain expression was enough to tell me that she was still pissed off at me and I didn’t blame her.

She had every right to be and I was sort of excited for the next two weeks but I was sure as hell not excited for tonight, having to see Hazel on a date with that wanna-be, Chase.
