Chapter 10:
Zayn POV:
'At the age of twelve? Who does it at that age!?' That was the first thing I thought when she replied but immediately changed my mind when I saw her bury her face between her chest and knees. I looked at Harry and gave him the 'This Is All Your Fault' look. He shrugged and looked back at Hazel guiltily. Something didn't seem right and there had to be something more to the story, no? Â I tried to think what could have made her lose it at that age but then again, she could have been forced to it? But how? She didn't even have friends until she moved here from Leeds.
I was about to ask her if she was okay but Liam bet me to it.
"Hazel, are you okay?" he asked softly.
She raised her head and rested her chin on her knees, her arms still hugging her knees. She nodded and stared at the ground. "Yeah, you guys continue," she replied and rested her head on the back rest of the seat.
It was obvious that she didn't want to talk about it and we didn't bug her about it. We knew when to ask things and when not to. I turned my head and in one look, we all agreed to keep our mouths shut for now and not ask her about it because we all figured out that it wasn't because she wanted to.
We continued playing truth or dare until the sky was beginning to get the shade of dark blue and the moon and stars started appearing. By that time, Hazel was sleeping in the passenger seat. We gathered our stuff and Louis had to stay in the boot since he was dared to go back to the top and jump in the last ten minutes and Harry ended up driving since he was the only one that knew to drive from us four, besides Louis.
We dumped all our stuff in the boot, next to Louis and started getting into the car.
"I think it's better if she stays in the back seats," Liam suggested and I nodded. Carefully, I picked her up swiftly and placed her in the back seat, in the middle between Niall and I while Harry sat in the drivers seat and Liam in the passengers seat. Harry started the ignition and started driving out and soon enough we were on our way back home. The time already marked around nine in the afternoon and Hazel's head was resting on my shoulder and Niall was asleep, his head resting against the window.
I breathed out heavily and rested my head on the window, replaying the events that happened tonight while slowly falling asleep.
*
Harry first dropped off Liam, then Niall, then drove towards my house and Hazel's. When we arrived and he parked the car in front of my house's gate, I slightly shook Hazel and she quickly woke up. She said her goodbyes to Louis and Harry and we both left the car, grabbing our bags from the boot. Harry drove off which left the both of us alone. She rubbed her eyes and pushed her gate open.
"Night Zayn," she mumbled and started walking but I stopped her.
"What made you do it at that age?" I quickly asked her before she closed the gate.
She turned around and I noticed how tired she was. She sighed and ran a hand through her wavy hair.
"Nothing, it's just something I'm really not in the mood to talk about, goodnight," she said and quickly closed the gate. I saw her figure walking up the driveway, then disappeared inside her house. I backed away, pushed open the gate to my house and walked up the driveway. I pushed the key in the key hole and unlocked the door, dumping my bag next to the door. I ran a hand through my messy hair and hung the keys on the key holder. I looked around lazily, grabbed my bag and headed upstairs deciding to take a shower.
After I took a shower I put on a pair of grey sweatpants and white T-shirt. I wasn't exactly tired considering it was around ten thirty in the afternoon. I grabbed my phone and noticed a text from Sophia. I opened the text and smirked.
I replied with a 'Yeah :)' and slumped down on my bed, waiting for the doorbell to ring. My parents still had a couple of days out of town which left the house all to myself. I heard a door slam on the other side and remembered that Hazel lives opposite of my room. I stood up and walked towards the window, I couldn't see anything since her blinds were closed, curtains drawn closed and windows closed. Before I could think of any reason the doorbell rang and I smiled and walked downstairs and opened the door casually, a smirk plastered on my face. My smile faded away when I saw Hazel standing in front of me, her eyes red, cheeks stained with tears and her arms hugging her torso.
"Hazel? What's wrong?" I asked her but more tears spilled out of her eyes and she wiped them away stubbornly with her hands.
"I didn't know where else to go," she said her voice breaking.
My eyes softened and smiled. "Don't worry, wanna come in?"
She nodded and I moved backwards so she could walk inside. I closed the door behind her and walked towards the sitting room. I sat down on the sofa and she sat down a few spaces away from, criss crossing her legs. We stayed silent for a few minutes but it wasn't awkward or uncomfortable silence. I bit my bottom lip and rested my back against the sofa and looked at her.
"So what's up?" I asked her, finally breaking the silence.
"I didn't want to," she replied quietly and I furrowed my eyebrows, confused.
"What do you mean?"
"I never wanted to lose it at the age of twelve."
My eyes widened at her reply. "Then how did you-"
"I was .... I was r-" she stopped talking and looked away, as though embarrassed. "Just forget it, I don't even know why I'm here!"
She turned around and walked towards the door but I quickly stood up and grabbed her wrist, turning her around. When she turned around, new tears poured out of her eyes and I frowned, wiped them away with both of my thumbs and looked into her eyes.
"Tell me!"
She shook her head and pushed me away and turned around. She turned around, her eyes wide. "What do you want me to tell you, Zayn?" she asked, slightly choking on her own tears. "I'm pretty sure you figured it out by now, probably even Louis, Liam, Niall and Harry!"
I furrowed my eyebrows at her, confused. "I haven't."
She breathed out heavily and ran a hand through her messy hair. "I've been raped by my teacher at the age of twelve while my parents where too fucking busy caring about their work instead of their only child!"
I had sort of assumed that, I just didn't want it to pass through my mind let alone be true.
I was at a loss for words since I was never in this situation. I was sure that my parents would never let anything like that or close to that happen to us. Did her parents even love her like my parents loved me? I looked at her and something suddenly hit me.
She was trusting me with this. She was crying in front of me and letting me see a bit past through her built barrier she built to protect herself from the outside world, ready to throw stones at her. She slightly shook her head, momentarily closed her eyes and then turned around, opening the door but she froze, her eyes wide.
I furrowed my eyebrows and started walking forwards but stopped when I noticed who was in front of me.
"What are you doing here?" she asked coldly, referring to Hazel.
"I came over to drop off something for Zayn's father," Hazel lied smoothly and Sophia seemed to believe her because her face relaxed. "I was just leaving."
"Bye then," Sophia replied harshly.
Hazel momentarily turned her head to look at me, then quickly looked back at Sophia which had her arms crossed across her chest, waiting for Hazel to leave. "Goodnight," Hazel said quietly and disappeared outside.
"Bitch," Sophia mumbled while closing the door. She turned around with a devious smirk plastered on her lips and I remembered why she was here and to tell you the truth, I was really not in the mood to have sex, at least not with Sophia. She walked towards me and wrapped her arms around my neck pulling me closer to her skinny body. She softly smiled at me and ran her hands through my hair, messing it up even more. She tilted her head upwards and grabbed my lips between hers, she jumped and wrapped her legs around my waist. I rested my hands beneath her butt and blindly walked up the stairs and into my bedroom and I sat down on the bed, her on my thighs, slightly brushing herself against my abdomen. She knew that that was one of my weak spots and involuntarily, I growled and pushed upwards. I felt her lips twitch upwards into a smirk against my lips. "Now that's the real Zayn."
And with that we were off ...
Hazel POV:
I rolled my eyes. I threw the pillow away and threw the covers off my legs and walked out of my bedroom and towards my parents bedroom, which was far away from my room.
I could practically hear the bed banging against the wall and her moaning, I'm not exaggerating. Did they not respect some people's sleep!? It was around two in the morning and I had to wake up early tomorrow and study for the damn tests the following day and besides, I was thinking on taking some dance classes. I miss dancing. I got beneath the cold covers of my parents bed and closed my eyes, waiting for sleep to slowly take over.
*
As much as I wanted to stay asleep, someone was shaking me to wake up.
"Hazel get out of my bed! We want to sleep!" I heard my mother say, her voice high pitched but sounding exhausted. I groaned and opened my eyes, to see my mother hovering over me with a tired, disapproving look on her face while my father was chuckling to himself and got himself into bed next to me. "Hazel! For the love of God! Get up! It's four in the morning and I'd like some sleep!"
"Hello to you too, mother," I said through gritted teeth. I flung the bed sheets off of me and I stomped  out of the room, slamming the door shut behind me. I entered my bedroom and slammed the door shut. I breathed out heavily and noticed that it was still dark and that my curtain and blinds were open, giving me a view to Zayn's room. The lampshade was on and I could see movement in the room. My eyes adjusted to the dark and I could sort of see a bit more clearly, then a blonde headed figure walked in view in total nude. My eyes widened and I quickly walked out of view.
I did not just see that. You did not just see that. No. Just, no.
I took in a few deep breaths before peeking again. She was still there but this time she was wearing her underwear and bra, then pulled on Zayn's white shirt, then her black skinny jeans which she was wearing before, an army green jacket and pulled her long blonde hair into a pony tail. She said something and then put her hands on her hips, as though waiting. Then Zayn appeared and she kissed him before bending down, grabbing her shoes and then out of sight.
I felt a pang of jealousy sore through my blood system. I was too busy being jealous and all, that I didn't even notice Zayn turn his head in my direction. When he saw me, his eyes slightly widened and I quickly disappeared out of sight, dived into my bed and hid beneath the covers.
This was not my good night sleeps that I was dying to have.
*
The next morning, I was woken up by my father. He had come to apologize for my mother's actions. He said she was just tired after days on non-stop work and coming in at four in the morning wasn't her cup of tea, so he wanted me to excuse her behaviour for that excuse.
I shrugged the event off without even bothering to stay mad at her because I really wasn't in the mood to have an argument when it was clear that I was in a very bad mood since I had only gotten around four hours of sleep thanks to Zayn, Sophia and my beloved (not) mother.
I always thought that I was some sort of mistake for my mother but never for my father. My father always wanted a daughter and he was content by just having one child, as long as it was a girl. On the other hand, my mother would have been clearly content by just having a dog running around or even just a hamster jogging in it's treadmill in it's tiny cage. That would have done for her, I was pretty sure but whenever I told my father what I thought, he always denied it and said 'You were a gift sent from Heaven and we don't regret having you.' I always smiled at that statement but my mother never said anything to deny my thoughts and my father's reassurance was never enough, even if he had to die saying that sentence as his last words.
When I checked my phone at around two in the afternoon the same day, my heart skipped a beat when I found a message from Chase saying that he'd pick me at around three and that we were going ice skating. I replied saying that I sucked at ice skating and when he replied saying that he would be there to help me get back up if I fell, made me smile.
Maybe Chase was the one that would help me stand back up on my feet and help me show the real me and not hide it anymore.
Maybe it was actually really him that you could call 'The One' or maybe not ...
