Despite the fact that the midday sun had neared its zenith, the intensity of its light was progressively reducing as the winter season was about to knock on their door in a few days time.

Beta Kaiden, on the other hand, was busy discussing and obtaining signatures from both the Alphas and the other packs on matters surrounding the alliance.

“Finally, everything is done,” Kaiden grumbled as he closed the final file that Xavier had signed then tossed on the desk, sighing deeply. Tyler turned off his laptop and placed the finalized budget in front of the twins.

“Please check this over when you have the chance. Lena just mind-linked me about lunch, all of the ladies are awaiting our arrival. Let’s go get something to eat. I’m starving,” suggested the Gamma. Everyone agreed and waited for Xavier to finish what he had been working on, which only took a few minutes. He had already asked Kiara not to wait for him when it was time to eat but his woman was stubborn. She believed in them eating together. The younger Alpha, who had been engrossed in his phone for a few moments, became aware of someone approaching them through the window.

“Xavier, you’ve got a guest,” Zander teased. When the Alpha raised his head to follow his brother’s gaze, he discovered Kiara’s cat in his office. She snuck through the window then leapt to the ground and dashed over to the big Alpha.

“So you’ve begun following me to my workplace now?” Xavier narrowed his eyes at Meow, who leapt up onto the desk and began conversing with the Alpha. Just as Kiara had said, this cat was very boisterous and she had her own language.

“Finally, we have someone who can talk back to Xavier without getting punished,” Tyler grinned, kissing Meow lightly on her furry little head. When she had been moved to the pack house she had been quite moody and would growl at others but now she had come to love all ranked males. Meow sat on Xavier’s laptop, staring at him for a few seconds, allowing everyone to love her.

“Seems this little stalker likes you, Xavier,” Zander commented. Kaiden and Tyler chuckled, and agreed right away. Every member of the pack had seen how Meow had become closer to Xavier the longer she had been here. At first she’d flee as soon as he noticed her, returning to her mistress’ arms to play at being cute and innocent.

“I have asked Kiara to educate her en not approaching me, but this cat is rebellious just like her mistress,” the Alpha stated, taking a treat out from his drawer and offering it to Meow, who immediately began to eat it.

“Wait! I thought you disliked the cat!” Kaiden pointed out. Why would the Alpha have treats for a pet that he never liked or tried to avoid. Nevermind the fact that the man was obsessed with keeping everything clean yet he was letting the cat dirty his desk with the food?! Was everyone dreaming?

“Who said I disliked her? I am just not comfortable around pets,” Xavier replied casually.

“Then why do you keep treats in your drawer for Meow?” Zander grinned, having succeeded in irritating his brother.

“I just happened to have these treats on hand from when I went to the store to buy cat food. I forgot to hand them over to Kiara, which is why they ended up in my drawer! Don’t even think of giving me those looks!” With a snarl, the Alpha defended himself and rose from his chair, as he watched the cat eat.

“Is everything alright, Xavier?” Zander became aware of his brother’s agitated state of mind. Yes, the elder twin had finished his duty and business for the day, but there was a minor disturbance in his mind that his younger brother soon picked up on.

“I’m not sure if it’s just my imagination or something is going on, but I think something happened to Kiara last night,” he muttered as he remembered everything.

“Like what?”

“I had returned to the pack house the moment I sensed she was upset, and while I doubt that she had cried, she was already asleep when I entered the bedroom. Normally, she would check on her cat before going to bed, but Meow was the one who had been to our room looking for Kiara that night. Solled her back to her cat house and offered her cat food, assuming she was hungry, but she merely wanted to see her mistress,” the Alpha recounted to his friends who had been listening intently.

“Why don’t you ask, Kiara?” Tyler said.

“That’s exactly what I did. I asked her the next morning, she smiled and claimed that she was fine, as expected. I’m not sure what caused her to be upset enough to cry,” he seemed worried and at a loss. “Why are you standing at the door, Kiara? Please, come in. You don’t need to knock,” Xavier commented as he drew her inside and locked the door behind her. Before entering his office, the young woman hesitated for a moment. His office was so large and beautiful.

“I’d like to have lunch with you. I brought it here since you were busy. But I was afraid you would scold me for breaking the rules,”
