Chapter 93:
Is this really the Shadowfang Pack?
I asked myself within my as I stared at the vast forest with the Shadowfang Pack guards patrolling the area.
Although I have never been in the Shadowfang Pack before, Iâve heard rumors of what the infamous Shadowfang Pack looked like.
It was no secret that the Shadowfang Pack is medically and technologically advance. With their rare metals and their abundant natural resources, they have become the richest Pack among all of us which made me expect something more from them.
In my head I was thinking of elaborate systems of holographic projectors and advance camouflage systems to protect their Pack like something that came out of a futuristic science fiction novel.
The rumors also said that the Shadowfang Pack has a stunning blend of organic and technological elements. They have curving structures made of unique ebonyâhued metal called Luminite and a sprawling network of state of the art treatment facilities, research laboratories, and training centers.
However, none of those were true. All I could see was just old magnificent trees sprawling the forest and if I squint my eyes and look hard, I could only see modest thatchedâroof cottages dotting the landscape that is no more opulent than what we have in our own Pack.
The Shadowfang Pack doesnât look as special as I had Itâs thought #âs just normal Nova shot me puzzled glance, sharing my bewilderment. âThis is it?â she murmured, eyeing our surroundings with obvious skepticism.
Nove was so excited when I told her that we are not going to come back to our Pack, instead we are going to travel directly to the Shadowfang Pack so that Astrid could get the proper treatment that she needed.
Now that we have arrived, she looked a bit disappointed, but mostly in disbelief with what she saw.
âAre you sure we are at the right place?â Nova asked, voicing out his own unspoken doubts.
I only shrugged helplessly. âIâm sure we are at the right place,â I answered her.
Just then, a voice rang out across the clearing.
âWelcome, guests of the Shadowfang Pack.â A tall regal figure strode towards us, clad in a simple but elegant attire.
âGreetings⦠sir,â I muttered unsurely since I donât know he was and what his position is.
However, my wolf could sense how high the level of power of his wolf is. He is intimidatingly powerful, but not as powerful as me.
He must be the Packâs gatekeeper or something. Theron must have placed his most powerful man on guard to scare away intruders.
âI am Beta Alek. Our Alpha has been waiting for your arrival, please follow me as I escort you to meet him,â Beta Alek spoke Sh with an air of regality.
I pulped. I of whole enigmatic I looked at each other as Beta Alek turned around inside without waiting for us.
I wasnât expecting that their Packâs Beta would even personally escort us in I was about to call Beta Alek and ask him what should we do about Astrid when six Pack Warriors arrived in a line with blank emotions on their faces. In front of them was a man who is not wearing the same uniform as the guards.
I watched as they went pass us and approached the ambulance where Astrid is.
She had to travel in an ambulance because sheâs still unconscious. She also needed her IV fluids and she cannot be disconnected to a heart monitor.
âAlpha Drystan, come follow me. Let them take care of Miss Astrid,â Beta Alek called out to us when he turned around and saw that we didnât follow after him.
âYâYes Beta,â I stuttered as I chased after him with Nova by my side.
I took one last look behind to check on Astrid and was assured to see that a Shadowfang Pack physician is checking on her health..
With the Shadowfang Packâs help, thereâs nothing I should worry about.
345 â +15 Whatâs â
asked me through the Pack link, making look I was also about it. The outfit of the Shadowfang Pack strange. I couldnât even tell the material of the clothes that they were wearing.
Although their clothes have different designs since they have different positions. It wasnât anything Iâve ever seen before. Their outfits are futuristic like it came out of science fiction novels.
It stands out in contrast to their humble Pack.
Nova and I stared curiously around us, taking in everything that we could see.
I could finally see the cottages more closely that were visible outside their Packâs borders.
Everyone was looking at us as we walk. Maybe they were surprised to see new faces.
No one dared to approach and talk to us âWhereâs your Packhouse?â I asked breaking the silence between us.
âPackhouse?â Beta Alek questioned then laughs. âWe donât have one â
My brows furrowed when I heard his answer. Does that mean they all live in humble cottages? Ever since we entered, weâve seen nothing else but cottages.
âOur Alpha would never live in a little Packhouse, Alek adds which confuses me even more.
âAh! Here it is!â Beta Alek said with a smile which I thought would look devious on him, but surprisingly it didnât. âWelcome to the central Pack!â
