Chapter 51:
Uneasiness crept up body at the seriousness and heaviness of how he said those words. The way he said it makes it seem like he is hinting at something else.
Right now, Iâm not ready for anything else. My wolf is sick, and I still have to find the cure; without that, I donât even know how long Iâm going to live. I donât want to repeat the same pain that Drystan felt with his original mate.
Other than that, Iâm also not ready to enter into any kind of relationship. After getting out of toxic relationship, my heart is still not ready to open up again.
âDrystan,â I uttered his name to stop him from the next words he was about to say that I was not ready to hear yet.
Iâve always wondered why he is being so nice to me. He had done me a lot of favors without getting anything in return. Iâm just a huge liability to him, yet he always kept me by his side.
I thought his actions were out of our friendship, but doubts shrouded my thoughts when he suddenly claimed my child as his in front of Killian.
At first, I pushed away all my doubts, but theseâ¦âI think he is planning to confess something else.
âIâm not blind, Drystan, butâ¦â
âYour child is still my grandchild,â Drystan spoke up,â interrupting me from my words.
I suddenly turned confused when I heard a different answer +15 .
â
mind went blank at his words, and then the tension in my body melted away when I finally understood what he was actually planning to say.
âOh, of course,â I spoke enthusiastically as I let out a sigh of relief.
I clearly misunderstood things there. I should have known that there was no way Drystan would fall in love with me.
He is still Killianâs Uncle no matter what, and the child that Iâm carrying is also his grandson. He would have found it disgusting to marry me. Thereâs no way he would have even a bit of a crush on me.
A knock on the door caught our conversation short.
âAlpha, the guests were looking for you.â Drystan sighed when he heard the omegaâs report.
âTell them Iâm coming shortly,â Drystan replied.
I almost forgot that the werewolf assembly is still going on outside. Nova must be having a hard time handling everything on her own out there.
âGood luck out there, and seal a lot of deals,â I smiled at Drystan as he bid his goodbye.
Drystan smiled back. âOf course I will.â
The first thing that people are looking forward to in every Werewolf Assembly is sealing deals and alliances with . If only I was good condition, I would help.
connections since thatâs also what Iâm .
After Drystan left, I slept to give my body some rest.
I stirred awake when somebody knocked on my bedroom. When I opened my eyes, my whole room was dark, and I could see the moonâs soft light glowing outside.
I groaned when someone opened the light âYou need to eat before you sleep for the night,â Nova spoke softly as she placed my food on the table beside my bed.
âIs the event done already?â I asked her as I pushed myself up to a sitting position on my bed.
Iâve been waiting to hear news from her. I couldnât wait to hear what had happened while I was gone.
âSupposedly,â Nova answered tiredly,â but Drystan is still talking to some guests about business. I already left since the conversation doesnât seem to end.â I chuckled at Novaâs words.
âOur guests are really impressed by the preparations that you made, Astrid. All the leaders are taking their time to listen to Drystan since theyâve seen what our Pack is capable of, she continued.
I smiled at the news. Iâm glad that things went according to my plan. âHas Drystan connected to a lot of Alphas already?â
âA lot of Packs are looking forward to working with us, Astrid. We are already near to reaching our goals. After this, our Pack would be sustainable enough,â Nova answered happily.
HEBORUS âWhat ? Did you see them Novaâs smile suddenly vanished when she heard my question.
â
never came,â she sadly replied.
âItâs okay, at least we tried,â I answered to lift her spirits up. Thereâs no need for her to be sad since Iâm the only one who needs something from the Shadowfang Pack.
Ever since the Shadowfang Pack, it has never attended any Werewolf Assemblies for the past decades. With that, it would be highly impossible for them to suddenly attend this year around.
I really didnât have high hopes that they would come to our Werewolf Assembly Still, I sent them invitation, just like how the other Packs hosting this event would have done.
âYou donât need to worry. The Shadowfang Pack doesnât need to come here. I can visit their Pack instead and strike a deal with them. We just needed to wait until my child was born. It would be better that way,â I smiled at Nova to give her assurance.
Selene Souchon Author looks like Drystan got scared. Or maybe Astrid is right with her guesses 10
