Prison Blankets | A Llorumi Short Story1,721 words~9 min read

Lumi was the first to wake up, as per her routine, and it was 6 in the morning when she decided she was hungry. Using her crying as her main source of communication, she let out a wail with a different tune to try and get her mother's attention.

Harumi groaned from beside her, attempting to cover her ears from the sound–finding out it was impossible since she was right beside the source–and eventually giving up to turn over and assist her daughter.

"I'm up, I'm up." Her voice raspy as she spoke, holding Lumi in her arms to feed her. "Sweetie, you need to learn to wake up your dad."

Lumi ignored her and continued drinking her milk, enjoying the satisfaction this moment gave her. Harumi's head fell from left and right–causing her to wake up each time–as she slowly drifted back to sleep.

Lloyd was peacefully asleep beside them, a drool stain forming on top of his pillow as it fell from his mouth. Harumi ruffled his soft blonde hair and yawned, it was way too early for this.

Once she was sure Lumi was full, she waited for her to burp before laying her back on the bed. Lumi turned from her back and onto her stomach in one quick motion, showing off to her mom what she was capable of, and lifting herself up on her elbows.

"Look at my baby," Harumi spoke with a baby voice and a smile. "You're growing up too fast, Lu. Slow down a little."

Lumi only cooed in response, letting out different sounds as she did. Harumi placed a few toys in front of her to keep her busy as she went to wake up Lloyd.

She reached her hand out and ran it through his thick blond locks. "Greenie, it's your turn." The motion made Lloyd hum in response, a smile forming on his lips. "Please? I'm still sleepy."

Lloyd started twisting and turning but it was only when Harumi retracted her hand did he fully wake up. His emerald green eyes looking directly into hers, a pout on his lips.

"Good morning." She greeted him with a small giggle escaping her lips.

"Good morning, Rumi." He answered, stretching his muscles as he did and let out a yawn. Lloyd caught sight of Lumi playing beside him, immediately breaking out into a smile. "Good morning to you too, Lu."

The baby cooed, rolling over to lay down on her back again but this time closer to Lloyd's figure. The boy chuckled and wrapped his arms around her, engulfing her in a cuddle.

"It's my day off. I'm tired." Harumi declared, dismissing the knot forming in her stomach, and rolling over to face the other side to continue sleeping.

"But she's happy!" Lumi was now on Lloyd's stomach, giggling away as he played with her.

Harumi couldn't help but smile at the sounds. "She's too happy. It's your turn."

She felt a small, wet hand place itself on her cheek–Harumi didn't have to turn around to know exactly what they were up to–and a voice saying, "But mommy, you have to play with us!"

It was high-pitched and a little squeaky, Harumi couldn't think of a single person that would sound like that.

"Is that your impression of her voice?" She turned around, raising an eyebrow at Lloyd who hid behind Lumi.

He averted his gaze somewhere else. "Is it that bad?"

"A little."

"What do you think she would sound like?"

"Definitely not like she's breathing helium."

Harumi giggled, getting up to plant a kiss on his cheek, and snatched their daughter away from his hands while he was distracted. She let her rest on her chest, their stomachs touching, and made the most of their mornings before she was expected to go to work.

After a talk with Darreth, Lloyd was able to book a photoshoot for a clothing line he was starting to raise money for his karaoke bar. Leaving Harumi with the baby for the rest of the afternoon.

"I'll be home before your shift, don't worry." He informed Harumi, placing a soft kiss on her forehead before doing the same to Lumi.

"You can do this!" Harumi smiled and Lumi cooed in agreement, shaking the rattle in her hand.

Lloyd felt his heart melt, it was always a sight for him to see his girls get along like this. "Thanks, Rumi." He ruffled her hair. "Bye, sweetie."

Lumi Garmadon cooed and placed her drool-covered hand on her daddy's cheek. She then went back to hugging her mommy as Lloyd walked out the door.

"You're stuck with me for now." Harumi smiled at her as she covered her shirt with drool. "Right after we get you cleaned."

For the rest of the afternoon, Harumi decided to teach Lumi different tricks. According to Zane and Pixal, this was the right time to explore the things she could do.

"Alright, Lu this is your mommy and daddy's favorite color." Harumi held out a green building block in one hand, "And this is your uncle Kai's favorite." She held out a red one in the other.

"Ba!" Lumi exclaimed, she was currently sitting with her back resting against a pillow and two more on either side of her for support. Harumi tried to get her to sit up by herself but she kept falling from one side or the other.

Harumi giggled at her attempts to talk. "Yes, sweetie." She held out the toys closer to her daughter. "Now, which one would you prefer?"

Lumi took a good look at both colors, her green eyes trailing from one object to another. "Ba!" She reached for the green one and Harumi smiled.

That's definitely our daughter.

After playing, Harumi found herself ranting to Lumi while waiting for her to burp the milk she just drank.

"And that's how your grandfather took over Ninjago City." She finished, laying on her stomach as she copied her daughter.

"Ahh!" Lumi exclaimed, coming up with different sounds every now and then.

"Exactly!" Harumi agreed, she couldn't believe it was easy for her to tell her different things without having anyone judge her.

"Ooh." Lumi babled and right after she did, a burp came out of her mouth.

Harumi patted her back. "That's my girl."

The sliding door to their room opened to reveal three girls poking their heads at the edge of the door.

"Hey!" Nya greeted with a smile as Harumi sat up. "We were wondering if you guys wanted to hang out."

"And also because Skylor insisted on spending time with her niece." Pixel added, hands behind her back.

The girl stuck her head from behind the door and waved. Her red hair tied up in its usual ponytail. "That is if it's okay?"

Harumi smiled and nodded. "Of course!" She tapped the space beside her on the bed and the girls immediately came running in.

"Aw! She's so cute." Skylor exclaimed when Harumi helped her hold Lumi.

Lumi smiled at the sight of her aunts, gooing and cooing as she pleased, but when she saw Skylor's face for the first time, her lips started to quiver before she fell into a loud cry.

The panic was visible from Skylor's face as her eyes widened. "What did I do?" She whispered through Lumi's crying.

"It's okay. She just needs time to recognize your face." Pixal stated, holding her hands out for Lumi to come with her. The baby spotted her and immediately cried harder, this time asking for help.

The second Lumi settled in Pixal's arms, she stopped crying–occasionally rubbing her hand against her face–and cooed at her aunt.

Nya sat on the edge of the bed and grabbed one of Lumi's toys. "So, where's Lloyd?" She asked, dangling the set of plastic keys over Lumi's eyes to try and get her attention.

"Working, why?" Harumi laid down and got comfortable.

Nya's eyes lit up at the mention of the absence of the Green Ninja, her mind filling up with different activities they could do. "Great! Let's go get the boys and see what kind of fun we could have."

Harumi chuckled, knowing that with Lloyd being gone–given he was the more protective figure over Lumi–it opened up different opportunities for the ninja to have fun.

"You know what he'll do when he finds out."

"Oh please, what can he do?"

"What in Ninjago is going on?!"

All heads turned to the direction of the doors to the living room. Lloyd stood in between the entrance, arms crossed, his eyes narrowed, as he eyed the ninja.

There were safety gates in place of the couch, forming a square around all of them and was filled with different colored plastic balls.

"Oh," Harumi greeted, wiping the chocolate from her face. "Hey, Greenie!"

Lloyd scoffed. "Don't 'hey, Greenie' me. Where's Lumi?" He looked around to see most of the ninja in the living room.

Kai popped his head above the gates. "Right here." He lifted Lumi in the air making the baby giggle, kicking her legs and waving her arms in the air.

"Oh thank goodness you're okay." Lloyd immediately walked over and took her in his arms. Lumi cooed, incomprehensible sounds coming from her as she patted her dad's cheeks. "What have you been up to?"

"Well, she can crawl now." Jay announced, a grin forming on his chocolate covered face.

"And sit!" Nya added with a proud smile.

"Then why are you all covered in chocolate?" Lloyd raised an eyebrow and wiped his cheeks from Lumi's saliva.

"She was getting all energetic and we needed to keep up." Cole shrugged, shoving another slice of chocolate cake into his mouth. "Can we give her some? Harumi wasn't sure."

"Absolutely not!" Lloyd was quick to retort, leading to a series of groans and complaints from his fellow ninja. "She hasn't even tried solid food."

"When she does, can it be cake?"

"No!"

Harumi sighed and hopped out of the small area they created to join her family. "How was the shoot?"

"Pretty good. I got you a few shots to keep for yourself." Lloyd winked, smirking as he saw the blush form on her cheeks.

Harumi hit him playfully and took Lumi from his arms. "Come on, sweetie let's get you cleaned up."
