(Week 37 - 40)

"She's walking now?!" Jay exclaimed at the sight of Baby Lumi standing up on the edge of the couch. Her body leaned for support while she moved one foot in front of the other.

Harumi chuckled. "Not exactly but she's learning." She was sitting on the floor, making sure to catch her daughter in case she loses her balance.

It was definitely a sight to see their niece up on her small baby feet instead of on her knees. They had never realized how much she's grown until they watched her figure out how to use her legs.

"Do you think she'll have powers?" Harumi asked, looking up at Lloyd who was laying down on the couch that Lumi was holding onto.

He looked up from his comic book. "She could. But it's still too early to know."

Lumi did a forward roll right in front of them. Neither were sure whether it was an accident or intentional. Lloyd and Harumi stared at each other with wide eyes, one conclusion coming to mind.

"She's definitely going to be a ninja." Jay voiced out their thoughts, picking up on the situation as well.

Master Wu poked his head into the living room making the trio wonder whether he had been listening the whole time. He walked in, stroking his beard. "Lumi is a descendant of the Green Ninja and First Spinjitzu Master, perhaps destiny has a lot in store for her."

Lloyd sat up at the news, setting his comic book down to get a look of his daughter. He never thought about it–but maybe he did and just dismissed it before he went down a trail of thought that he cannot escape.

He noticed Harumi staring at him but he knew she couldn't possibly understand his worries. How he was going to watch his daughter go through the same pressure he's had since he was a child. How she has to constantly battle the evil forces who threaten to take over his city.

How she has to flirt with death every single fight.

I can't let her go through that.

But when Harumi placed a hand on top of his, he was reminded of something. Something he forgot to take into account.

Lumi was also her mommy's daughter.

The girl who took over Ninjago City at just 15 years old, the girl who was smart enough to deceive, not just him, but also the royal family. She may have been dangerous, but she is just as smart and skilled as he is. Maybe even more.

Whatever Lumi Garmadon has to face in the future, Lloyd decided he should trust her. With the combination of both her mother and father's skills, she could be capable of anything she puts her mind to.

"When can we start her training?" Lloyd asked, a soft smile forming on his face as he looked up at his uncle.

Master Wu returned it, and Lloyd could swear he saw a hint of pride in his face. "I don't see why we can't start when she turns 1. Perhaps some ninja skills could help trigger her powers."

Harumi smiled at him. "I'm proud of you." She mouthed and Lloyd nodded in response.

She's got this.

"Hey, sweetie. Why are you awake?" Harumi asked, picking her daughter up from the crib.

It was the middle of the night again and it brought back memories of the late nights Harumi spent trying to place her daughter back to sleep.

"Goo!" Lumi was holding onto a stuffed dragon that she always slept beside as she clung onto her mom.

Harumi smiled, placing her on her lap. "Couldn't sleep either?"

Lumi hummed and rubbed her eyes. "Mik! Mik!"

Harumi reached for the bottle of milk on her bedside table. She popped off the cover and gave it to her daughter. Lumi took the bottle in her hands and laid down in her mommy's arms.

"You've grown, Lu. The last time I held you like this was when you were only a small baby." Harumi held back her tears as the memory flashed in her head.

There were times she couldn't sleep because of her daughter's crying but now that she was holding her like this, Harumi learned to treasure the moments she did.

Lumi had grown. Both physically but also her skills. She started drinking milk in her bottle after a biting incident that Harumi didn't want to get into, and she learned how to hold it by herself. She had learned how to crawl and communicate and now she was starting to walk.

But Harumi didn't forget to keep track of her progress, often updating the baby book that Lloyd got her when Lumi was still a month old. It was filled with pages and pages of photos, data, and all kinds of memories Harumi managed to collect.

The Kryptarium Prison cafeteria had a horrible selection of food. Harumi learned that the hard way. And it pained her to empty all the healthy food options the Warden had given her from her stomach.

Harumi rubbed her temples. "Baby, you're really making me grow hungry and you know we only have scheduled meal times." Her hands moved to rub her stomach. She was sitting down in front of a toilet once more, the stench of vomit filled the air.

She was only a few months pregnant by that time but she could already feel that her baby was a girl.

"You know what, I'm making your dad buy me all the cravings I've had the moment you started growing in my stomach." Harumi enjoyed humoring herself with the impossible. There was no way she would tell Lloyd Garmadon about this, not even if it meant her life hung in the balance.

She let out a sigh, continuing to talk to herself as she flushed the toilet. "Yeah... you're right. He doesn't even know about you."

Lloyd did buy her every single food she wanted to eat. He never hesitated or stopped to ask questions and it made her feel guilty to think she didn't even want to tell him in the first place.

There was a time where she thought of what would happen if Lloyd never found out about everything. However, she doubted that it would happen. Once the Warden and his guards see a child that looked exactly like the girl version of their famous Green Ninja, calls would have been made.

She was lucky he found out early.

"What do you say you sleep beside mommy and daddy tonight?" She whispered. Lumi let out a small smile behind her bottle and Harumi took it as a signal that she agreed.

She began humming a lullaby, tapping her baby's thigh as she did, and placed her back to sleep. Lumi's eyes grew heavy, she always admired her mommy's singing. Soon enough, she fell asleep.

"I love you, Lu." She whispered, pressing a soft peck on her forehead.

Harumi set her down between her and Lloyd–who was snoring the night away after another tiring day–and ran a hand through her white blonde hair. It was growing longer and thicker by the day, Harumi was excited to start tying it up in different hairstyles.

Soon enough, she found herself snoring beside them.

"It's Uncle Kai and Aunt Skylor's day out with Baby Lumi." Kai held up a camera as he spoke, documenting the entire process.

Skylor rolled her eyes. "Get that camera away. She doesn't need any more publicity."

"Why not? I've dressed up especially for this occasion." Kai ran a confident hand through his and Skylor worried she was going to see the inside of her head with the amount of times she's rolled her eyes.

How did Nya put up with him for years?!

However, she did love him. Cockyness and all.

Lumi cooed from her stroller and Skylor took it as a sign that she agreed with her.

With Lloyd and Harumi out on a date, Kai volunteered and took the opportunity to, "Spend time with my niece." He'd reasoned with a smile that was rarely plastered on his face.

The same smile that appeared when he had a ridiculous plan forming in his mind.

"I want her back in one piece, Kai. Take Skylor with you." Harumi had said, narrowing her eyes at the boy before leaving the monastery with Lloyd.

The trio were out in Ninjago City, walking through the streets as Kai documented the whole thing.

"Some day she's going to want to see this and realize what a cool uncle I am."

Skylor shook her head. "Alright, do what you want."

And that is exactly what Kai did.

For the rest of the day, he had filmed every single second of it and only stopped once the camera died which meant he had to move to his phone. Even when Skylor spilled her milkshake after Baby Lumi deliberately kicked it from her hands, Kai caught the whole thing.

She narrowed her eyes at him, strawberry milkshake dripping from the ends of her hair. "Kai Smith I swear to the First Spinjitzu Master, if I see that on Nintube I will kill you."

He stopped filming after that.

Lumi had managed to fall asleep in her car seat as they made their way back to the monastery after a tiring–yet eventful–day. Kai focused on the road, he wasn't exactly a terrible driver, but with a baby in the car, he had to take precautions.

Lloyd's wrath wasn't the hill he wanted to die on.

"I know what you're trying to do." Skylor voiced out her thoughts from beside him. She got comfortable in her seat as Kai spared her a side glance. "You've been trying to prove all day that you'll be a good dad."

A smirk appeared on his face. She always had been witty, seeing through him like he was made of glass.

He rested a hand on top of hers. "Is it working?"

Skylor swatted it away. "Not. Happening."

"Oh come on! Why not?"

"Kai, you're a ninja. Your life is constantly in danger. I can't raise a kid and run a restaurant on my own!"

"But Lloyd's a ninja too–"

"And Lumi was never in his plans. We have a choice and I'm saying you wait until the coast is clear." Skylor crossed her arms. She couldn't believe his confidence sometimes.

Kai sighed but didn't show his disappointment. "At least say that you'll think about it."

"I have." She admitted, catching his attention. Kai was so in shock he swerved to another lane and almost hit the car behind them. "You have to keep me alive if you want kids!"

"Sorry. Sorry." Kai managed to get the car back on the road as Skylor checked on Lumi to see if she was okay. "You've really thought about our children?" A smile formed on his face.

"Well, yeah. But they're not happening until we're sure you're not going to die protecting Ninjago."

"Aw, but what other cool way is there?"

"At the hands of Harumi after she finds out you nearly involved her daughter in a car accident?"

"Okay fine I'll wait."
