Chapter 632 Mr Beauvort Has Your Heart After Levi had left, Katy couldnât resist commenting, âLevi, even after all this time, his feelings for you havenât changed. I could sense it when we were abroad. But you just turned him down so directly. Itâs quite⦠You didnât leave any room for him.â
Neera smiled and didnât see anything wrong with her actions. âI have no interest in having an affair, and itâs best for both me and him if I make it clear and reject someone who has feelings for me.
Furthermore, itâs also the most loyal thing I can do for the person I love.â
Katy chuckled, saying, âI never thought Iâd be hearing you say that youâre doing it for the person you love. It seems that Mr. Beauvort has your heart.â
Neera blushed slightly at the teasing but didnât deny it, nodding openly. âIâll treat him how he treats me.â
Jean had a special place for Neera in his heart, and the feeling was mutual.
Katy put on a mocking frown. âMs. Garcia, who used to have no interest in romantic love, now seems quite smitten when it comes to falling in love. Youâre so protective over your lover!â
Despite her joking tone, Katy genuinely felt happy for Neera and understood the purity of her feelings.
After a few moments of lightâhearted conversation, they shifted to more serious matters.
âAlfonso was released today,â Katy informed Neera.
Neeraâs expression remained stoic as she nodded.
Katy continued, âThe situation at Garcia Group is dire. Almost all their partners have terminated their contracts, and ongoing projects have been completely halted for the past two days. Not only have they suffered substantial losses, but many partners are also pursuing breach of contract claims. The bank is pressuring them to repay debts. If this continues, they would go bankrupt.â
Neera smiled wryly, and her delicate eyebrows quirked with sarcasm.
âGarcia Group brought this upon themselves. Selfâdestruction was only a matter of time. Check to see if there are any valuable projects left that can be taken away without mercy.â
Katie nodded. âAlright.â
Alfonso had spent half a month in detention, and it had taken a toll on his appearance. He came out of the police station with a disheveled, unshaven beard, gazing at the sunlight outside as if he had been reborn.
However, this newfound freedom was but a fleeting illusion.
Little did he know that the world of Garcia Group had undergone a seismic shiftâ¦
Susan arrived to pick him up.
As he got into the car, Alfonso couldnât contain his curiosity and concern about the state of the company. âHow is it? Has everything been going smoothly at the company these days? Are there any problems?â
Susanâs heart raced, and she avoided his gaze, responding with a hesitant âHm.â
Alfonso glanced at her, dissatisfied with her vague response. âYouâre beating around the bush. Canât you just explain it to me?â
After buckling his seatbelt, he instructed, âNever mind, Iâll see for myself. Letâs not go home first, take me to the company.â
Having been in the dark about the company for so many days, he couldnât shake off his unease.
Susan felt a surge of guilt and pretended to persuade him. âYouâve just been released. After spending so long in there, you should go home, take a shower, and rest properly. Donât worry about the company. We can discuss it later.â
âI donât need rest,â Alfonso retorted with a furrowed brow, sensing that something was amiss. âWhy havenât my parents and Roxanne come to pick me up?â
Susanâs palms grew sweaty and dodged the main issue. âTheyâre at the hospital.â
Alfonso was taken aback upon hearing this news. âWhat happened? Are they sick?â
âItâs notâ¦â Susan began but faltered, her voice trembling. âItâs Roze. She suffered a heart attack a few days ago. Mom hasnât been feeling well because of thisâ¦â
Alfonso did not expect this and immediately grew anxious. âWhy didnât you tell me sooner? Why should I go home and rest then? Letâs go to the hospital right away!â
Susan swiftly stepped on the accelerator, increasing the carâs speed as they rushed to the hospital.
Upon arrival, the two of them hurriedly entered the hospital and made their way to the ward. Along the way, Alfonso noticed many people staring at them, their eyes feeling like daggers on his back. Some even pointed and whispered with disdainful expressions.
Alfonso furrowed his brow and turned to Susan. âWhy are these people staring at us? Has something happened that you havenât told me?â
Susan, feeling increasingly guilty, responded hesitantly, âNo, please donât think about it. Thereâs something wrong with those peopleâ¦â
Alfonso grew more suspicious, sensing that something was amiss.
As they walked, they finally reached the ward. Marnie and Roxanne were sharing the same room, separated by a curtain.
Upon entering, Alfonso first asked about Roxanneâs condition with concern. However, Roxanne sounded distressed as she said, âDad, youâre finally back. If you hadnât returned, our family would have been ruined.â
Alfonso was puzzled. âWhat do you mean?â
But just as he started to feel uneasy, the curtain was pulled aside, and Gladeon cast a glance at Susan.
He commented, âIt seems she doesnât dare to tell you. You can find out online for yourself.â
