Chapter 482 Chop It Off
Jean was surprised that Neera would ask that.
He was quite pleased to see the concern in her eyes.
He looked her in the eye and said gently, âDonât worry. Iâm fine.â
That did not stop Neera from worrying. She inspected Jean carefully from head to toe.
After spending some time to make sure he was totally fine, she breathed a sigh of relief. âPhew, Iâm glad youâre fine. You wouldnât want to get hurt in this state.â
lan was conscious even though he was very weak. He nearly burst into tears when he saw the scene.
Can you two stop being lovey-dovey? Iâm right here! Single people need care and concern too!
âExcuse me, Dr. Garcia. Iâm the one whoâs injured. Can you tend to me?â lan said pitifully. âLook at the state of my arm. Itâs rotting, isnât it? I hope I donât have to amputate it!â
Neera turned her head and looked at lan as though he were an idiot. âWhat nonsense is that?â
âBut thatâs how it usually goes in TV dramas,â lan said fearfully.
âYouâll be fine, but you might want to cut down on your TV drama consumption. Theyâre not good for your brain.â
âI
â¦âIâm not looking for life advice now! Arenât you being too friendly as a doctor?
Neera tried to laugh when she saw lan glaring at her resentfully. âIf youâre still lucid, it means that the poison isnât very strong. Otherwise, itâll be more serious than amputating your arm. Youâll be dead by now!â
She rolled her eyes at him and asked, âHow do you feel now?â
âIt hurts and itches. It feels like a thousand ants are biting my arm,â lan replied.
âAh, so itâs not a big problem,â Neera said, relieved.
She retrieved a bottle of antiseptic from her medical kit and cleaned lanâs wound, then injected him with a solution.
âI have some leftover antidote from my research. Itâs not as potent as the one that I gave to Mrs.
Beauvort, but it can neutralize simple poisons. Weâll see if this works.â
lan was crying tears of gratitude. He grabbed the hem of Neeraâs shirt and said, âMy arm is in your care, Dr. Garcia! Youâre my savior if you can heal my armâ¦â
Before he could finish, he could sense Jean glaring at him.
He turned his head and saw Jean staring unblinkingly at his hand that was on Neeraâs shirt. Jeanâs gaze was so intense that it seemed to burn a hole in his hand.
lan felt a chill course down his spine, and he jerked his hand away.
Storm shot a withering glance at lan. Even if lanâs arm is healed, I guess Sire would want to chop it off and feed it to the dogs!
Neera was not paying attention to the drama. She reached into her medical kit and tossed a pill to lan.
âIf the wound starts to hurt, this is the painkiller. Iâm done here. You should go and rest.â
âThank you, Dr. Garcia,â lan said and tossed the pill into his mouth. He stood up and headed straight into his
room.
Neera stayed back for a while in case lan needed further medical attention. Jean brought a teapot, sat down next to Neera, and poured her a cup of tea.
Neera took a sip and asked, âWill those people from yesterday find trouble with you again? If the Crimea family dares to attack you, what about me?â
She was worried that Sonny might seek revenge, not so much about herself but her three children.
Jean knew what she was thinking. He said, âSince last night, Iâve already ordered several bodyguards to protect you and the triplets in secret. No harm should come to you.â
Neera was surprised. She did not expect Jean to be so considerate.
âThank you,â she said.
Jean smiled and rapped Neeraâs forehead with a knuckle. âHow many more times are you going to say âThank youâ?â
Neera mumbled, âOw! Why would anyone complain about being thanked too much?â
âI would,â Jean said.
Neera pouted. âFine. I wonât say that again.â
Jean was satisfied. âThat better be the case.â
