Chapter 200 I Had A Problem With Zachary Because Of Her
Jean raised his eyebrows. He grunted in response, and said nothing more.
Neera nodded in understanding.
No wonder things had turned out like that. Qaylah and Roxanne really picked the wrong people to mess with!
She thanked Jean politely. âYou helped me again. I owe you one.â
She paused after that, finally asking what she wanted. âThe thing is, whyâd you beat Zachary up? And why didnât I know anything about this?â
She had really thought that Roxanne was just trying to blame her.
Jean stopped short. He did not know how to explain this to her.
lan saw this, and spoke up at once.
âAh⦠Ms. Garcia, it was actually me. / broke his arm.â
Neera looked at him in shock. âYou? Whyâd you do that?â
She was pretty sure lan and Zachary had no grievances with each other.
lan scratched his head, flashing a goofy smile.
âDo you remember when I left my phone in the private room and went back for it? I ran into Zachary on my way out. He was with a few people, and tried to attack me because they saw I was alone. Of course, I wasnât going to just let them do that! So I justâ¦â
lan took all the blame for himself, not mentioning Jean at all.
âItâs my fault, I didnât think they would blame you for it. Iâm sorry for getting you into trouble.â
Neera stared at the guilty, apologetic look on his face, and felt like something was off.
Why did whatever he was saying just sound so suspicious?
But on second thought, Jean probably⦠wouldnât beat Zachary up just for her.
After all, the two of them werenât even married yet.
She believed lanâs words, and asked nothing further.
Just then, a waiter showed up with a paper bag and passed it dutifully to Neera.
Jean said, âPut it on my bill.â
Neera hurried to turn the offer down, insisting to pay.
She came out of the shop, and headed to her own car.
Jean saw this, and did not offer to send her back either.
Just as they were about to part, Neera called out to him. She stuffed one of the two bags she was holding into Jeanâs arms.
Jeans arms.
âI came here to buy you a cake, actually.â
Jean stopped short, looking at the cake in his arms and then at her in faint surprise.
âJust for me? Why?â His tone was a little playful.
Neera did not detect any of it. âTo thank you, of course. You helped me get Sasha Javer for the amb as sad orship, Iâm really grateful for it. I just⦠didnât expect for you to help me again today, so! guess Iâm thanking you for two things.â
She smiled and waved goodbye to him, getting into her car.
Jean stood there with the cake in his arms. He watched as she drove away, smiling in faint amusement.
Half an hour later, two cars drove into the Imperial Gardens one after the other.
Before going in, Neera hesitated before rolling down her window.
lan was about to drive past her, but braked and lowered his window as well.
Jeanâs face appeared.
âWhatâs up?â He glanced at her, asking the question calmly.
âDo
you want to have some tea? Iâll brew some for you. Itâll be good for your health.
×1 Jean raised his eyebrows. Those three from her family had used the words âgood for healthâ all the time when he first met them as well. He smiled.
âOf course.â He greed without hesitation, his tone gentle.
A while later, the two of them sat across each other digging into their cakes and teaâ¦
In the hospital, Roxanne and Qaylah were still fuming when they got back.
Zachary saw this, and frowned. âWhatâs with that look on your face? Showing me a face after coming back?â
