Jean lounged against the backrest, his voice filled with amusement. âYou seem excited.â
Neera blinked and replied, âOf course. This is a matter of life and death for the Gordon family, of utmost importance. Now that it has been resolved so smoothly, I can finally put my mind at ease.â
Jean made a noncommittal sound, picking up a strand of her long hair to play with. He twirled it around his fingertips before casually asking, âDo you trust Colin so much? Arenât you afraid he will deceive you?â
Neera shook her head slightly. âItâs not that I trust Colin. Weâre not close. Weâve only met a couple of times, so itâs not a matter of trust or distrust.â
âSo, itâs the man from Lordsworth Estate that you trust?â Jean raised an eyebrow and asked lazily yet purposefully.
âHmmâ¦â Neera stroked her chin thoughtfully. âAll things considered, I suppose Iâm more inclined to trust him.â
Jean chuckled inwardly at her words but maintained a serious expression. He frowned as if he cared deeply and added, âWhy do you trust him more? Youâve met Colin a few times at least, but youâve never even seen this man.â
Neera was somewhat confused herself, but she believed without any reason.
âYou might find it odd when I say this, but even though Iâve never met him, for some reason, I always feel like heâs trustworthy. Itâs as ifâ¦â
After thinking about it, her eyes lit up as she found the perfect word to describe it.
âItâs as if thereâs an invisible magnetic field. I can feel it. He genuinely wants to help me, without any ulterior motives.â
âMagnetic field? He genuinely wants to help you?â Jean listened to her words and chuckled inwardly, but he kept a straight face. He frowned as if he cared a lot, his tone filled with heavy dissatisfaction as he added, âIs it really appropriate for you to tell me that thereâs a magnetic field between you and another man?â
Neera was taken aback for a moment, then found herself torn between laughter and tears.
âWhat are you thinking? I was just making a description, nothing more. Donât let your imagination run wild.
Suddenly, Jean moved closer to her, gripping her chin. His eyes were half-closed, filled with an intense, ambiguous meaning.
âWhat if I insist on letting my imagination run W In the enclosed space, his deep voice resonated like a subwoofer, exuding an irresistible sexiness.
Neeraâs ears felt warm, and her cheeks blushed.
âHey! B-Behave yourselfâ¦â
lan was still driving, and Neera felt extremely shy.
lan showed great discernment. He didnât even turn his head and immediately put up the partition.
Neera was speechless. Thereâs really no need for that!
The enclosed space seemed to become even smaller. Jean couldnât help but chuckle softly as he took in her awkward expression.
His laughter caused the surrounding air to tremble, and it also made Neeraâs heart flutter.
She blushed, feeling both shy and embarrassed. She shot him a reproachful look. âStop laughing.â
Jean raised an eyebrow, confidently saying, âWho told you to say the wrong thing? Iâm jealous now;
How are you going to make it up to me?â
As he spoke, he leaned in, his breath a tangible presence. His finger traced the softness of her lips with a touch that was neither feather-light nor overly firm.
It was a clear indication.
Neeraâs heart began to race. Her ears felt like they were burning, and her face grew hotter and hotter.
Heâs truly a master at captivating people.
She couldnât resist him and willingly surrendered herself. She hooked her arms around his neck, offering her lips to him of her own accord.
Jean chuckled lightly. In an instant, he took the initiative, pulling her into his embrace and kissing her.
As they continued to kiss, Neera found herself pressed against the back of the chair, nestled in his chest.
Their breathing grew heavier as they were lost in a whirlwind of emotions and desires.
âMmmâ¦â
As his dry, expansive palm slid under the hem of her attire, caressing her waist, Neera trembled, a soft whimper escaping her lips.
This soft hum pulled Jean back from the brink of losing control.
After all, it was not the right setting. He paused for a moment on her tender skin before withdrawing, thoughtfully straightening her attire.
He bit her lips in retaliation, then finally pulled back a bit. He held her chin lightly, his gaze deep and his voice husky as he said, âIâll let it slide for now, but Iâll deal with you later when we get home.â
âYou⦠Youâre teasing me!â Neera complained softly, raising her hand to cover her mouth.
As she struggled to breathe, a shimmering layer of tears welled up in her eyes. They sparkled brilliantly, pleadingly as she gazed at him.
Jean tensed up. The desires he had just suppressed flared up again.
His Adamâs apple bobbed up and down, and then suddenly, he cupped the back of her head, pulling her into his embrace, not allowing her to look at him.
âStop seducing me. Iâm afraid I wonât be able to resist, and I might take advantage of you right now.â
Neera pressed half of her face against his chest, listening to the vibrations coming from his chest cavity and the muffled, indistinct sounds from above her head. Feeling the tension in his body, she suddenly dared not move.
After a moment of silence, she gently lifted her head and asked, âAre you⦠okay now?â
After a moment of silence, she gently lifted her head and asked, âAre you⦠okay now?â
Jean lowered his gaze, looking at her bright, almond-shaped eyes. Her gaze was mixed with caution.
He couldnât help but curve his lips into a smile.
âYeah.â
He let her go, took her hand, and slowly intertwined their fingers.
âBut what is owed must be repaid.â
Neera did not know what to say.
