Tiago raised an eyebrow. âSo, youâve planned all this for her?â
Jean gazed at him, his eyes carrying a profound and enigmatic expression. âAbsolutely, as long as it brings her happiness and allows her to fulfill her desires. Even if she aspires to be the ruler of Phison, I would claim the throne for her.â
At that point, Tiago could see how Jean cherished that woman. He couldnât help but marvel at it while giving him a big thumbs up. âI doubt anyone has the courage for that. I have to hand it to you!â
Neera found herself in a challenging situation, not because she had any aspirations to assume the role of the ninth elder in the Bartitsu Guild.
Her initial hope had been that after the election, she could finally return home and reunite with her family.
However, becoming the district president had unexpectedly brought forth a multitude of issues that demanded her attention, leaving her more tied up than ever.
That was the reason she felt somewhat downcast.
Shane could only sigh. âYou donât have a choice, Neera. Youâve just assumed your position, so there are a lot of things for you to handle. Iâll assist you and help you get through this as quickly as possible.
Once everything is settled, Iâll take you home.â
Neera could only accept the situation as it was, sighing as she nodded in resignation.
Once back in her room, she made a video call to the triplets.
The children were thrilled to see her on the screen. They started bumping their heads against each other as they scrambled to get closer to the screen. âMommy! Are you coming back soon? When will that be? We miss you terribly!â
Neeraâs smile faded upon hearing those words, guilt gnawing at her conscience.
Her gaze swept over the childrenâs faces, and she apologized, âIâm sorry, my babies. Mommy canât come home just yet.â
Upon hearing the bad news, the triplets instantly raised their voices, exclaiming, âWhy not? Didnât you call yesterday saying that everything had been sorted out and youâd be home with us soon?â
âDid something happen again? Mommy, youâve been so busy lately, and weâre really worried about youâ¦â
Observing the disappointment on the childrenâs faces, Neera was overcome with a sense of guilt for letting them down. âIâm really sorry, but it turns out I canât keep my promise just yet. At first, I thought I had everything under control here, but thereâs another important matter thatâs come up, and I need to give it my attention. I wish I could hop on a plane and be back with you right now, but the situation here wonât allow it. I miss all of you so much, and I appreciate your patience. As soon as I wrap things up here, Iâll be on my way back to spend some quality time with you.
The previous excitement of the three little ones has now evaporated, each of them looking as gloomy as a rainy day.
However, they couldnât bear to see Mommy upset, so they mustered up their spirits and replied, âItâs all right, Mommy. Weâre here with Great-granddad, Great-granny, Grandaunt Nadine, and great-uncle. You donât need to worry about us, weâre having a great time every day.â
worry about us, weâre having a great time every day.â
âThatâs right. We miss you a lot, but weâre doing okay. Weâll just patiently wait for your return!â After comforting Neera, Penny anxiously asked, âMommy, whatâs the issue all about? Is it serious? Nothing bad will happen, right?â
Sammy, too, expressed his concern. âPlease take good care of yourself over there. Otherwise, weâll be worried!â
Neeraâs heart was warmed by their sensibility, yet it also deepened her sense of guilt.
After humming in response, she replied, âItâs something important but not risky, so donât worry. Iâll take good care of myself, I promise.â
The four of them kept up their chattering and casual conversation, and at that very moment, Nadine and Mariah joined in.
Mariah had been yearning for Neeraâs presence for quite some time. Now, as she saw Neera on the screen, she became agitated. âOh, my baby girl. Itâs been days, and I canât help but wonder why you havenât come back yet. I miss you so much.â
Neera comforted her with a warm smile. âJust a little while longer, and Iâll be back soon. When Lreturn, Iâll prepare your favorite dish, those creamy garlic prawns you love so much.â
Her response brought a smile to Mariahâs face. She replied in excitement, âAlright! Iâll eagerly await your return. Just so you know, Iâve been staying at home and behaving myself lately.â
Neera flashed a faint grin. âThatâs good to know. Youâre the best.â
After a while, Nadine took the phone and showered her with a series of heartfelt questions about her well-being.
Neera was concerned about Mariahâs health, so she inquired, âHow has Granny been feeling lately?â
Nadine smiled and replied, âSheâs much better now-even better than before, thanks to your medicine.
Her condition is stable now, and it seems sheâs gradually recovering.â
Suddenly, Nadine paused, her expression revealing a hint of helplessness. âHowever, she keeps confusing you with Stacy.â
Neera nodded. âItâll take some time since the trauma wasnât developed overnight. She will recover gradually, so donât worry about it. Granny is so strong, and sheâll definitely pull through.â
âAll right, got it. Iâll take care of things here, so you donât need to worry about us. Take care of yourself over there, and come back safely. Weâll wait for you to come home,â Nadine said.
Neeraâs heart brimmed with warmth when she heard that.
For the longest time, the only thing Neera had in life was Adriana.
Now, she not only had Adriana and her triplets but also this wonderful and dear family, all of them caring for her and eagerly waiting for her return home.
