Chapter 1078 My Blessing Once everything was taken care of, Neera finally breathed a sigh of relief.
She administered the nutrient solution she had prepared in advance to Willard. After adjusting the flow rate, she noticed that he had already drifted off to sleep.
Knowing that Willard was exhausted, she didnât disturb him. She called for Osbert, and together, they left the consultation room.
In the corridor outside, Leila was anxiously waiting.
Seeing Neera come out, she quickly approached and asked, âNeera, how is my grandfather doing? Is the treatment going smoothly?â
Neera nodded. âThe treatment went smoothly this time, and the wug pest has been drawn out from your grandfatherâs body. As for your grandfather, he has fallen asleep due to exhaustion from the treatment process. You donât need to worry. Iâve hooked him up to an IV drip. When he wakes up, he will feel much better.â
With a sense of relief akin to surviving a catastrophe, Leila patted her chest, finally able to relax.
âThank goodness Grandpa is all rightâ¦â She murmured to herself, then noticed the glass jar in Osbertâs hand.
Upon seeing the pale red worm inside still blindly wriggling, she was covered in goosebumps. âSo, this thing has been hiding inside my grandfatherâs body all along?â
âYep, and donât worry. Once it leaves the human body, itâs pretty much half-dead,â answered Neera.
It was not that Leila was scared. She just felt a bit nauseous.
She shifted her gaze away momentarily and then expressed her heartfelt thanks, âNeera, thank you.
Iâm so grateful to have met you. Thanks to you, my grandfatherâs illness, which has troubled him for so many years, has finally been treated. I donât even know how to express my gratitudeâ¦â
Neera smiled wryly, shaking her head. âThereâs no need for such formalities. Your grandfather once helped me. Iâm just repaying the favor. As long as I can assist him, thatâs all that matters.â
Worried that the medicinal properties of the wug pest might diminish if it stayed out of the human body for too long, she decided to end the conversation. âDonât worry. Let Mr. Saunders rest well. Iâm going to prepare a remedy to restore his physical strength.â
Leila didnât dare to delay Neera, nodding repeatedly. âAll right. Go ahead, then. Iâll stay here and wait for my grandfather to wake up. Thanks for your help.â
Soon, Neera headed to the laboratory, with Osbert closely following behind. âNeera, you mentioned before about using this wug pest for medicine. Can it really serve that purpose?â
âYes. Only the essence of this wug pest can completely resolve the issue within Mr. Saundersâ body,â
answered Neera.
âAh⦠what should we do then?â
Neera put on a white lab coat, wore a mask, and answered, âWe need to turn this wug pest itself into a pill for Mr. Saunders to consume.â
The moment those words were spoken, Osbert instantly felt a tingling sensation all over his body. He gulped, unable to resist glancing at the still wriggling wug pest: As he did, a wave of nausea washed over him. âNo way. We need to turn this into an edible pill? Thatâs just terrifyingâ¦â
Neera ignored him, directly taking the glass jar from his hand, and proceeded to work on it with great urgency.
It took roughly two hours to develop the antidote, which was immediately given to Willard to consume.
That afternoon, Willard indeed seemed to have recovered a bit.
His illness had lasted for so long, and the treatment process had drained him of so much energy that he still felt somewhat weak.
âMr. Saunders, all you need to do is go home and rest well for a while, and you should be able to recover about eighty to ninety percent. The rest will just require some recuperation,â said Neera./
The Saunders family naturally had no issues with that, considering they had a medicinal background.
At that moment, Willard expressed his gratitude repeatedly. âI owe you my life, Neera. Meeting you is indeed my blessing.â
Neera smiled. âPlease, donât say that. Youâre giving me too much credit. If youâre not busy, why donât you let Leila take you home to rest?â
âAll right, Iâll take Grandpa home now. Once heâs feeling better, Iâll bring him over for a visit!â Leila was immensely grateful, and after a short while, she left with Willard.
After seeing off the two, Neera chose not to leave. Instead, she stayed to continue her research on that peculiar wug pest.
Osbert was quité intrigued and, thus, engaged in a discussion with her.
As he was speaking, he suddenly remembered something. âBy the way, Neera, you probably donât know yet. Thora has recently moved out, planning to start her own business.â
