31.
i hate it.
how everything is
perfectly clean and white;
how the sterile air burns
the inside of my nose.
i hate how
this building can go on with routine
while machines are unplugged
and visiting hours are soaked in tears.
i hate the paradox within these walls;
where life could simultaneously
start and end
in the same day.
i hate the calm, friendly service
of a businesses so crowded with ache
and splattered with blood stains
of complete strangers.
i hate the way
walking through the still hallways
speeds my heartbeat, powered by worry.
i hate the way
they're all dressed in white
to coat the true nature of their work.
i hate their cold hands
and monotone statements
that could simply
turn your life upside down
in a split second.
perhaps this is my fear
of living and losing to death,
perhaps i just truly despise
hospitals.
