7.
the more you read my story,
the more the book is damaged.
your careless hands continue
to tear at the pages, unfazed,
and your clumsy fingers
smudging over the words
that fill the old, pale parchment.
my book is desperate to
abruptly shut in an instant;
deny your hands or eyes
any more access and
maybe even pinch your fingertips
in the process,
just so you can feel a fragment
of the aches you caused upon this story.
the story of my life is now
forever changed
and the damage you did
will always linger in
between the pages
and in between the words.
there is no way to mend the tears
and no way to remove the stains
your hands left.
and worst of all, to this poor,
book of mine's demise,
there is no way to
erase
the words you typed over
mine that were there before.
