despite the crowds of people

passing us in clusters

of family and friends,

despite the music

leaking from speakers on every corner

and filling the background

with my favourite song,

despite the delightful scent

of buzzing restaurants nearby

and despite fountains of water

splashing in an incredible routine,

my eyes searched for yours.

i pulled you close to me,

and the whole world around us

disappeared.

our surroundings dissolved

into nothing but our love,

and warmth found its way

into the small space

between us.
