Chapter 2: Welcome to the jungle

Catgirl Clone Chronicle1,293 words~7 min read

Waking up not on the familiar ceiling, but on the floor looking at the sky, I start to be perplexed by it like a dream or the start of a nightmare, but my senses cannot calm down.

My ears were sensitive to everything around me and I could hear cries of creatures I hadn’t heard before.

Waking up slowly, the sound seemed to come from near me, but I couldn't see anything. Once on my feet I found to my surprise that I’m now naked and I could now see in plain view that I’ve really changed.

I can see that someone is missing, but it was more a pain to have it and now no problem!

Behind me a white tail behind me reflecting my inner thought, it’s confusing for now but I guess I will quickly forget its existence in less than a day.

Looking around me I feel presence, but also I can see very well even insects on the bark of a dead tree at 300 meters and another information about my environment is: I’m on hostile ground!

Everything looks like a fantasy version of jungle: serpents, snickers, bugs chirping, big trees and also a raptor looking straight at me at 400 meters from me.

Looking again at my tail and looking at my hair I now understand… I’m so visible that’s could be a crime. That damn godd… If she hears me I’m screwed, but I'm more in need of help now!

His interests were already set, he charged me! Looking around I only see trees and from time to time a rock and like a spring I run really fast, taking in my way a big rock the size of my hand. He takes chase faster than I thought, I hear him perfectly behind me approaching faster than I can outrun him.

My only chance was to escape into the tree, a big one with a thick, low branch. Not far from it was a large boulder, about the size of a small car, roughly 1.4 meters tall.

Seizing the moment, I jumped onto the boulder and sprang toward the branch. I missed slightly, nearly slipping, but managed to grab hold. My arms locked around the branch, and with a quick pull, I hoisted myself up without much effort, now ready with my stone in hand.

On the ground two reptilian eyes were observing me, looking at me like a prey.

“Raoo! Raooo!”

It turned around the tree one time, two times and, on the third time he jumped on the tree stabbing it’s claws on the wood.

My first effort is to hit him in the head. The first blow didn’t even faze him, missing it, but the second landed hard against his snout. Blood spurts out just before the creature falls back on the ground. It's still looking for an opportunity to jump at me.

Stolen novel; please report.

Desperate, I act. I summon my power, fluid and instinctive, like it’s part of me. In a flash of light another white-haired catgirl appears midair, above the raptor.

I feel it instantly she’s me. I’m her. One mind, two bodies.

The clone me drops from above, calm and precise, landing on the raptor’s back. She wraps her arms around its neck with all the strength my body can muster. I may not be the strongest, but now I’m not alone to fight him.

With the time gained by extra help I jump to land a heavy hit onto his cranium with my bloody rock. Staggering it with shock and pain, in the meantime I land another hit faster.

Blood coursing through its face it charges in front, I reflex jump out of the way letting it crash on the tree. My flailing clone is ejected on his right, I stand with my two bodies to make a counter attack. A rapid strike from a tail hit like a whip sending me flying to the ground, its attention now on my clone, its bloodied eyes were now fixed on my clone.

Instantly jumping with all its weight on her. Her only safeguard her arm in the way of its mouth biting with strength. The pain coursed between me and my clone like instant information. I grind my teeth in my lips, standing up, I run onto the back the back of the raptor while my clone in pain wraps her legs around his neck with all the remaining force.

The raptor being in a bloodied state can’t really fight back and I don't want to let him have another chance so my two hands on the rock and hit, and hit, and hit, and hit again and again. After several hits, its eyes lifeless, its brain matter in plain view, blood everywhere and a stone turned into stone dust. I let go and took a heavy breath.

Victorious, but in pain I’m now with a corpse and my clone losing little to little it’s conscious. I let go of the power in her and the phantom pain, now gone.

[25/40]

Looking around for extra danger I found nothing much, my ears doesn’t hear anything that sounds bigger than a little lizard or a snake gobbling a tiny prey.

I relax my body and sit near the bloody corpse, in this situation I would curse the goddess and the world but I stayed deeply calm.

With now the danger (for now) behind me, a single thought echoes in my mind, what should I do next?

I’m now in a survival situation so everything should be planned and clear. I remember a bit about a survival show when I was young.

The first thing in a situation of survival : Do not panic. And I think it’s ok.

Second: Looking if I'm injured. It’s tolerable, it sting but I can live with it.

Third: Find a place to camp and a water source. It’s a jungle. It's never an option I should flee this place and find grassland or maybe people.

Fourth: Signal your presence… In no way do I do that if there is something more dangerous than this dinosaure!

Fifth: Fire. Basic, but first cloth! I am not okay to be naked!

Sixth: Find food, I have a candidate near me.

Seventh: Stay or move strategically. I already want to get out of this jungle!

Height : Maintain morale. Basically: do something, don’t panic and set goals.

For now, I’m naked, I don’t know where I am and when something will come.

With no other choice I look around on the ground and find a sharp stone the size of a kitchen knife.

I skip the unnecessary steps, I skin it, clean it by a river and find a branch to let it dry. It’s grotesque, but I won’t wear it if it reek this bad. I’m starting to find things I know I couldn't do with my old body.

Now In a calm situation I can tell now: I’m a beautiful catgirl!

White hair, blue eyes, a beautiful face, and an agile body– small, just 1.30 meters tall, but built with muscle stronger than you’d expect

But being beautiful won’t help me to survive, why am I in the middle of a jungle? Why not in a good place with people to help. I know it’s my mind from a peaceful world with no imminent danger, but I think too much!

Looking around me I don’t see a single thing that could serve to create a fire, the air is humid and there are very few stones. But I can make weapons and something to wear around me.

Vines, bones, claws and long weed grass near the river, something like reed.

It’s time to work!
