The call had connected, but someone hung up on him. Great, now, Gisele actually dared to reject his calls.

Holding her breath, Jennie watched as Dorian called Gisele repeatedly. She wanted to tell him that Gisele had told him not to call. Nevertheless, noticing that he might lose his temper any second, she decided to

remain silent.

“Furthermore, can’t you afford to hire a housekeeper, given your family’s wealth? Why do I have to cook when I’m the young mistress of the house?”

Dorian had no words for rebuttal. Of course, the Jefferson household had no lack of housekeepers, but Gisele had been the one preparing his meals for the past three years. How could she quit just as she
