Chapter 29

Johnson had looked up at Gisele, who had been dressed in white and standing against the light. Back then, he had thought that she was an angel.
He had hastily helped Gisele carry his grandfather to a shady spot. Then, he had dazedly watched Gisele perform first ald on his grandfather, despite her feeble figure.
Gisele had finally stopped when Johnsonâs grandfather seemed to have recovered. By then, she had been so exhausted that her forehead had been covered in sweat.
It had been a hot afternoon, but she had acted as if she hadnât felt the heat at all. She had never stopped for a breath while she had contacted the ambulance.
Then, she had accompanied Johnson to take his grandfather to the hospital. She had even paid 10 thousand dollars for him.
To this day, he still hadnât managed to pay her back.
Later on, he had seen the masked woman from back then in a TV show that was introducing the top ten outstanding youths in Hearthfield.
It was only then that he had learned that she was called Gigi Toby Fluff.
Johnson stopped reminiscing and scratched his head as he said shyly, âSorry, Gigi; we havenât paid you back for the hospital bills yet. Whatâs your account number? I can transfer the money to you right now.â
âItâs okay. Itâs not that much money anyway.â Gisele waved her hand, smiling.
She only had a faint impression of the incident back then, and she didnât remember the details. In the past few years, she had tried everything she could do to help those in need.
She had never once thought of getting something in return. Even though 10 thousand dollars was a huge sum to her as well, she thought that it wasnât appropriate to get the money back.
Johnsonâs youthful face immediately soured. He said in slight disappointment, âDo you think that Iâm not earning enough money? Iâm great at earning money. Iâm the technical
expert on our team!â
âAlright. If I need help, Iâll ask you, okay?â Gisele couldnât bring herself to turn him down.
Johnson thought for a moment. Then, he said with hesitation, âAlright, then. But promise me that youâll think of me! Iâm staying in the room next door.â

Gisele nodded.
Suddenly, a nurseâs highâpitched voice rang out at the door. âJohnson! Where have you run off to this time?
âDo you want to live or not? Youâve delayed your operation time again. Do you really not want to live anymore? Youâre just an 18âyearâold brat!â
When Johnson heard the nurse calling him, he hastily stood up. He walked outside awkwardly. âGigi, 1-1âll be going back now! Iâll visit you again after Iâve dealt with the nurse!
Before Gisele could say anything, she saw Johnson dashing out.
When the angry nurse in the corridor saw him, she spoke more sternly. âStop running! Do you actually want to live or not?â
âOf course I do. If you donât believe me, go and ask her!â Johnson pointed at Gisele, who was on the bed.
Gisele didnât know what to say. She nodded and then said in a hoarse voice, âHeâll cooperate.
âThatâs right! I follow everything she says.â Johnson nodded obediently. Then, he walked toward his own room.
The nurse sighed, looking heavyâhearted as she did so. After Johnson left, she said to Gisele, âMs. Meyer, heâs a pitiful child. But if he listens to you, please help me convince him.
âHis health condition doesnât allow him to drag it out any longer. The doctor is doing this for his own good.â
âWhat illness does he have?â Gisele frowned curiously.
Johnson did look a little ill, but it was probably because he had stayed up too late at night. Did he have any other illnesses?
