The translator shook his head. "We've never met him before. We just know that he can lead us to peace, just like how he led Riveria to peace."

Arnold frowned. Ethan could lead everyone to peace? He felt like he had just heard the funniest joke in the world.

Ethan was a criminal known for serious corruption. It would already be considered benevolent if he did not embezzle all the villagers' money and push them to the brink of despair. Furthermore, the one who had brought peace to Riveria was Stephen! He was the Grand Marshal's mentee!

"It seems you don't understand Ethan at all," Arnold said. "He's not who you think he is." He wanted to say more, but a few children peeked curiously at the door, interrupting him.

The translator quickly shooed them away, but Arnold smiled and said, "Let them come in."

The children entered, staring up at Arnold with wide eyes. One of the girls asked shyly, "Is Mr. Rivers handsome? Is he married?"

The translator relayed the questions to Arnold, making the three adults in the room chuckle. The children had come in just to ask about Ethan. They looked up to him as their idol and role model.

Arnold laughed at first, but he gradually started feeling uneasy.

All this might be part of Ethan's scheme. He deceived the people abroad into thinking he was a good person. That way, it would be easier for him to escape to another country. However, he did not expect to be captured before he had the chance to flee.

Seeing that it was getting late, the translator did not want to disturb Arnold any longer.

On behalf of the villagers, he conveyed their wish to Arnold, "If you have the chance, please pass on this message to Ethan: we are all waiting for him. If he can, we plead for him to come and save us."

With that, the translator, doctor, and the children all bowed toward Arnold.

Arnold watched them leave with anger in his heart. Ethan truly deserved to die. How dare he deceive such innocent villagers? ff the villagers were to find out the truth about Ethan, it would break their hearts.

Arnold decided to visit Ethan and give him a piece of his mind when he returned.

A man like that should be condemned for eternity!

In the middle of the night, the second team arrived. This time, the team was larger, had better equipment, and even official foreign support. Their mission was not just to rescue the hostages but also to bring the criminals to justice.

Arnold led the team toward Jared's base. When he left the village, the villagers came out to see him off.

The captain of the second team was surprised. "Are you famous here?"

Arnold shook his head angrily. "It's not me. Ethan tricked them, and they think he's a good person. They hope that can go back and ask him to come and lead them out of poverty into peace and prosperity.

Everyone frowned. That was simply ridiculous. Did Ethan have such capabilities? They would be grateful enough if he did not cause more trouble.

Under Arnold's guidance, they soon approached Jared's base. When they noticed that Jared's team was planning to flee, Arnold and the captain of the second team decided to attack immediately.

As Jared's team fought back fiercely, the entire forest erupted with gunfire and explosions.

Jared's side had funding from Nolan, and they had established themselves abroad for a while now. When they saw the situation turn dire, they even rolled out a tank from the warehouse.

Arnold and the captain of the second team froze when they saw the tank. The barrel pointed straight at their bunker.

The two snapped back to reality, their hearts sinking instantly. It was over! They had no chance of survival if a tank fired at them!
