Chapter 480

The Guardian's Return by Old Pumpkin619 words~4 min read

Ethan knew why Jeremy refused to meet Stephen again, so he told Austin the news and got him to inform Stephen that those letters were all fake. Snow did not care about him, and Jeremy gave up on him long ago!

Stephen was able to pull himself together because of those fabricated letters. If he found out they were all lies and learned the harsh truth behind them, what would he do?

He would not go mad but choose to end his own life instead. He would LAO be the one ultimately responsible for Stephen's death! Ethan was using him to push Stephen to his death!

Austin's face turned pale as he looked at Stephen in horror, speechless. After all the trouble he went through to save Stephen, he was about to push Stephen back into the abyss again.

Was he really a psychologist?

Stephen grabbed Austin's collar. "Tell me! Why did Jeremy refuse to see me? What's up about the forged letters? Have you all been lying to me this whole time?"

Austin's head hung low, and he did not dare to speak. He was gripped with self- doubt. Had everything he done been a mistake?

"Was he too disappointed in me?" Stephen guessed the truth from Austin's reaction. “Jeremy is disappointed in me, and Snow never sent me letters, did she?"

Austin shook his head desperately. "I don't know. I don't know anything!"

Stephen slowly sank to the ground in defeat. Austin's reaction made him understand that his guesses were correct.

Looking at the two of them, Ethan took out his phone and contacted Liam. "Are you free? I've got two idiots here. Come and take them."

Liam arrived shortly after. When he saw Stephen and Austin sitting on the floor, their faces pale, he was shocked.

"What's up with them?" Liam asked nervously.

"They hurt each other."

Liam did not understand but wasted no time in helping the two to their feet and led them down the mountain.

Not long after, Simon arrived in Riveria. The sight of Stephen and Austin, both blank-eyed and dazed, hit him like a punch to the gut.

"Ethan must have something to do with this."

He knew his son had been humiliated by Ethan several times before, and this time was definitely Ethan's doing as well.

Simon wanted to go up the mountain and teach Ethan a lesson, but he was too busy right now. Hence, he ordered his men to cut off the water and electricity at Ethan's place to torture him!

Then, he used his influence to contact Austin's mentor, Ganter. Simon explained what had happened and invited him over.

Ganter arrived by the evening. Seeing his prized protege in a dazed state, he was distressed but helpless.

He knew that Austin had always been smart and articulate. The person who was able to reduce him to that state must be someone terrifying.

"Who did they meet before ending up like this?"

Simon looked at Liam, who said, "I'm not sure either. I saw them on the roadside."

Simon's gaze turned cold. "I know who it was. It must've been Ethan. He's up in Drakthorn Ridge. I'll get someone to take you there!"

Ganter shook his head, refusing, "No need. I'll go myself."

He could see that Simon was fuming with rage. If Simon sent someone with him, he was afraid they might act out of anger and make the situation worse. It would not help if things escalated.

Ganter asked about Ethan's age, gender, and other details before gathering some gifts and heading up the mountain alone. He knew the only way to resolve it was to confront Ethan directly. Without Ethan, things would never get resolved.
