Kateâs POV
The sound of heels clicking against the marble floor echoed as Sasha walked into my living room. Her face was determined, a stack of documents in her hands. She placed them on the coffee table before taking a seat across from me.
âThis is everything,â she said, sliding the papers toward me.
I picked them up, flipping through them. Bank statements, photos, social media screenshotsâall about Miyah. My heart pounded with a mix of excitement and apprehension.
âAre you sure this will be enough to turn Zaire against her?â I asked, my voice low.
âIf this doesnât work, nothing will,â Sasha replied confidently. âItâs all there. The people sheâs associated with, the places sheâs beenâeverything to make her look... less than ideal.â
I nodded, the plan solidifying in my mind. âHe wonât be able to deny the truth once he sees this.â
But deep down, a part of me hesitated. Zaire had always been stubborn, and Miyah... she had a way of getting under his skin. I would have to be strategic.

Miyahâs POV
The next morning, I woke up to the smell of coffee brewing and the sound of soft reggae music playing from the kitchen. I stretched, my body still sore from last nightâs tension.
Zaire was already up, standing by the stove in nothing but his sweatpants. The sight of him cooking made me smile.
âGood morning, chef,â I teased, wrapping my arms around his waist from behind.
He turned his head, kissing my forehead. âMorning, baby. You sleep good?â
âBetter than I thought I would,â I admitted.
He handed me a plate of scrambled eggs and toast, guiding me to sit at the table. As I ate, I couldnât shake the feeling that something was off.
âZaire,â I began hesitantly, âdo you think your mom will ever accept me?â
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. âHonestly? I donât know. But thatâs her problem, not yours.â
âI donât want to come between you and your family,â I said softly.
He reached across the table, taking my hand in his. âYouâre not, Miyah. If she canât see how good you are for me, thatâs on her. I wonât let anyone ruin what we have.â
His words reassured me, but I couldnât ignore the sinking feeling in my stomach. Something was comingâI could feel it.

Zaireâs POV
Later that afternoon, Malik and Giovanni came over. We sat in the living room, talking about everything and nothing. But I could see the tension in their eyes.
âYou think your mother done with her antics?â Giovanni asked, leaning back on the couch.
I shook my head. âNot a chance. Sheâs too stubborn to let this go.â
Malik frowned, his tone serious. âZaire, you need to be careful. Women like your mom, when they feel like they losing control, dem can get desperate.â
âI know,â I admitted. âBut Iâm not letting her come between me and Miyah.â
Giovanni smirked. âGood. âCause if you mess that up, weâll take her side. Miyahâs the real MVP.â
We all laughed, but the truth of their words lingered. My mother was plotting somethingâI could feel it. And when she made her move, I had to be ready.

Kateâs POV
The dinner invitation was sent out later that day. I made sure to include everyoneâZaire, Miyah, Malik, Giovanni, even Ashley and Zoey. But my real guest of honor was Sashaâs daughter, Chloe.
Chloe was everything Miyah wasnâtârefined, elegant, and from a respectable family. She was the perfect match for Zaire, and tonight, I was going to make sure he saw that.
As I arranged the seating chart, a smile played on my lips. Miyah would be seated across from Chloe, forced to watch as Zaire interacted with a woman who was truly worthy of him.
âThis will work,â I muttered to myself. âIt has to.â

Miyahâs POV
When Zaire told me about the dinner, I felt my stomach drop. It was clearly another one of Kateâs schemes, but I couldnât back out. If I did, it would only give her more power.
Ashley and Zoey were immediately on board to come with me.
âMi nuh care wah she try fi do,â Ashley said, her eyes blazing with determination. âWe got your back.â
Zoey nodded. âAnd if she try anything, trust me, sheâll regret it.â
I laughed, grateful for my friends. But deep down, I was nervous. This dinner wasnât just about foodâit was about power, and I had a feeling Kate wasnât playing fair.
