Chapter 150 : Enough is Enough
Alexandra packed some things for the kids and brought them over to Victoriaâs house. âWhy are we sta
ying with grandma again?â Sophia asked as they drove. âVictoria misses us. We are just going to keep
her company for a while,â Alexandra explained âBut she
could come stay with us,â Charlie argued. âShe could, but grandma is older. It is harder for her to pack
her things and move. This is so she can get her fill of spoiling you three,â Alexandra laughed lightly. âDo
es that mean we get cookies every day?â Sophia asked, kicking her legs in her seat excitedly. âIâm
sure she will make you lots of cookies,â Alexandra assured. When she got to Victoriaâs house, the kids r
an right in begging for cookies. Alexandra had called ahead and gave a quick rundown on what was goi
ng on. Victoria was expecting them.
She pulled their bags out of the car. Hers were still back at the house and she was going to go back for
it later. Sheâd have to
talk to Santino when he got back, anyway. Inside, the kids already had glasses of milk and cookies. Ale
xandra chuckled and shook her head. She brought the kidsâ bags upstairs and then joined them in the k
itchen for her own cookie, which, with her pregnancy hormones, seemed like the most delicious thing in
the world suddenly. âDonât worry, grandma, weâll keep you company,â Charlie said through a mouthful
of cookie. âAnd I am very grateful,â Victoria said, patting his head. âCan we talk?â Alexandra asked, nod
ding to the living room. Victoria followed her out. âCan you tell me what is really going on?â âDamon esc
aped. Larissa helped him. Santino accused me of helping,â she said, crossing her arms. âThatâs.â Victor
ia shook her head. âIâm sorry, Alex.â She put her hands on her granddaughterâs shoulders. âI donât know
what is going to happen, but I need time away from him. He doesnât trust me. How can we be together
if he doesnât trust me after everything weâve been through?â she asked, her voice catching in her throat.
âI know, it isnât easy. Iâm sure heâll come around,â Victoria offered. Alexandra shook her head. âItâll be to
o late.â
âYou know youâre welcome to stay here as long as you want.
he is coming from. As Alpha, he has to put the pack above personal feelings, even your sometimes,â Vi
ctoria said.
âThis isnât about that.â Alexandra sighed and shook her head. âIâm going to go back to the house and w
ait for him to come home. Weâve still got a lot to talk about.â âThe kids will be fine here with me,â Victori
a assured. âThanks,â Alexandra smiled weakly. Back at the house she packed her own bags. She didnât
know how long she was going to be gone, but at least
sheâd be able to come back and get the things she needed. Victoriaâs house wasnât too far. While she w
as packing up her clothes, Santino returned home. She heard the door close and silence, a pause, like
Santino was waiting for something. The kids, maybe? âHello?â Santino called.
âUp here,â Alexandra said stacking some shirts in her suitcase. âAlex, whatâs going on?â Santino asked.
Alexandra flipped the suitcase closed and pulled the zipper shut. âThe kids and I are going to stay with
Victoria for a while.â âUmm⦠because of our argument?â Santino asked. He didnât sound surprised, an
d that hurt Alexandra even more.
She couldnât turn to look at him yet. He was so close, she could feel him behind her, but she didnât want
to look at him.
âNo, because you made
it clear today that you donât trust me. You donât trust or value my opinions, observations, or feelings, an
d you certainly donât trust my priorities or my loyalty to you and the pack,â she explained curtly. âWell, h
onestly, when it comes to Damon, no, I donât trust you,â Santino said. The words were like a knife in Ale
xandraâs heart. Sheâd known it. Sheâd always known he would never trust her because of who her broth
er was, and now she was admitted it. How had she let herself get in so deep? âThen we canât be togeth
er,â Alexandra muttered. She wasnât sure if she was expecting Santino to fight and disagree. Part of her
wanted him to say she was wrong and he did trust her. That he had been wrong in his accusations and
they were going to work through things. âYou know there is no such thing as divorce in werewolf societ
y,â Santino said. That was not what Alexandra wanted to hear. He spoke so flatly, emotionlessly, like he
actually agreed that that couldnât be together. Tears pricked her eyes. She wasnât going to
let them fall in front of Santino, though, He lost the right to see her vulnerable.
âI know,â Alexandra sighed, setting her suitcase on the ground. She swallowed several
times to keep her voice from cracking. âBut youâre right. We canât
be together if we donât trust each other,â he agreed. âI have no problem trusting you, Santino. Youâre the
one who canât trust me,â Alexandra said blatantly. She wanted Santino to understand the harsh reality.
This was all on him. Sheâd done nothing wrong except want to see a better future for her brother.
Sure, Damon had done some
awful things, but second chances, the chance to make amends, that never should be denied anyone
who wants to take that chance. âWhat⦠what about the baby?â Santino asked as Alexandra wheeled h
er suitcase to the door.
âI guess I will uphold my tradition as a single mother,â Alexandra said flatly. âYou donât have to,â Santino
âWeâll see what happens. I donât want you to get your hopes up on anything,â she said. âWhat does that
