Chapter 141: Spending the Night
âWhat would you think of me spending
nights at the house with you and the twins?â Logan asked Serena over dinner one night. Theyâd tried to
make a weekly habit of going out to dinner together on an âadult date. âLike, moving in together?â Sere
na asked, pausing with her fork halfway to
her mouth. Logan shrugged. âMaybe not permanently,â he said. âI could spend nights now and then, tho
ugh, if youâre open to it.â âI guess that makes sense,â Serena said with a nod. âIâm not sure how I feel a
bout us sharing a bedroom, though. I mean, we still need to set an appropriate example for the twins. A
nd that part of our relationship is still so new.â
Logan chuckled and nodded.
âI wasnât going in that direction,â he admitted. âThereâs a room on your first floor, right, a play room? We
did once talk about converting it into another bedroom.â Serena smiled at Logan. She
had forgotten about that conversation but she was glad he remembered it. She really liked how Logan
was never pushy. He didnât expect them to be the perfect, conventional couple until it felt right for her a
nd the twins. She appreciated him respecting her boundaries. âI think that is a great idea,â she said. âI k
now the twins will love having you around more. It would mean you could stay over whenever; we woul
dnât have to make some big plan about it.â âThat was my thinking,â Logan said. âI can keep some
of my clothes and things there. If you have a
late night at the hospital, I can be there with them so they still have time with at least one parent. I know
Dana helps out a
lot, but Iâd like to be a second pair of hands when I can.â âDana is great,â Serena agreed. âYouâre right, t
hough. The twins should have at least one parent tucking them in and eating with them at night or
in the morning. Both of . our schedules are a little up and down.â âOkay, so it is a plan,â Logan said. Ser
ena nodded. âAfter dinner, why donât we go and take a look at the room,â Serena offered. âWe can talk
about how you want to set
it up and everything. Iâll have to figure out what to do with the toys. Iâm sure the twins would rather have
you in that room than toys.â She giggled.
Logan smiled at her. She felt her cheeks warm. After theyâd spent the night together,
she felt self-
conscious every time he looked at her or smiled at her in a certain way. It was like she knew exactly wh
at he was thinking, and he wasnât the only one thinking it!
Serena knew that having Logan around would make it more difficult for her to be an
appropriate adult role model for the kids, but his room would be on a different floor than theirs. She sho
ok her head, forcing those thoughts out quickly. They finished dinner and headed back to the house. D
ana had already put the twins to bed and was down in her apartment. Serena and Logan went past the
kitchen and down the hall to the playroom. She flipped the light on. Logan walked into
the center of the room and looked around. âIt is a good size,â he said. âI can make some calls tomorrow
and have the basic furniture brought in, bed, dresser, lamps, bedside table.â âIâd like to talk to the twins
about it,â Serena said. âJust to make sure it is okay with them. I canât imagine why it wouldnât be, but
stillâ¦â âYeah, absolutely,â Logan said.
Serena and Logan said their goodbyes and Serena went to bed. She was woken up by the twins jumpi
ng on
her bed, bouncing up and down. Serena groaned, throwing her arm over her eyes. âWhat are you two d
oing?â she asked. âMommy, it is time to get up,â Olivia insisted. Serena smiled, pulling her arm from her
face. âCome sit with me,â Serena said. She pulled herself up and leaned back against the pillows. Olivi
a and Oliver sat on
each side of her and she wrapped her arms around them. She kissed them each on the head.
âWhat do you want to talk about?â Oliver asked.
âYour dad and I had a chat last night, and we were thinking it was time to make a change around here,
but we wanted to make sure it was okay with you first,â Serena said.
âWhat is it?â Olivia asked a little nervously. Serena kissed them each again.
âLogan and I were talking about turning your playroom into a bedroom for him,â Serena said.
âWhere would our toys go?â Olivia asked. Serena chuckled. âThey can be in your bedrooms or in the liv
ing room,â she said, âWe wonât have to get rid of them.â âWhy would he need a bedroom downstairs? W
hy canât he stay in your room?â Olivia asked. Serena giggled and sighed. âThis is just the way we want i
t for now,â Serena explained. âLogan
can stay nights whenever he wants. He can be here to tuck you and have breakfast with you. He can b
e here if I have to work late at the hospital. What do you think?â âWell, as long as we donât have to thro
w our toys out, Iâm okay with it,â Olivia said. âI want him here,â Oliver said more directly. Serena kissed t
hem each again.
Chapter 141 Spending the Night âGood, now go get dressed and get breakfast from Dana. I will be dow
nstairs shortly.â she said. The twins scooted off her bed and
ran out of her room. Serena sighed and reached for her phone. She
called Logan, hoping it wasnât too early.
âGod morning, good morning,â he said when he answered. Serena laughed and rolled her eyes.
âI spoke to the twins, and they are happy to let you have their playroom as a bedroom,â Serena told him
.
âAfter breakfast, Iâll clear the toys out before work. Then you can take your time getting everything set u
p.â âSounds like a plan,â Logan said. âAlright, Iâll see you later,â Serena said.
âSee you later,â Logan told her. She hung up and flopped down on her bed again. Her stomach twisted
with giddy delight.
The idea of having Logan staying in her house for overnights was thrilling. Theyâd be staying in separat
e rooms, but she liked the idea of having him closer. Heâd be there for family moments, and she knew t
he kids would love having the extra time with him.
Serena finally got out of bed and joined the kids for breakfast. The table had four chairs, but they rarely
had anyone sitting in the fourth. It seemed like that would be changing soon. She knew Logan wouldnât
be living there full time, yet, but it was a good start.
After Dana took the kids to daycare, Serena pulled their toys from the playroom. They had a lot! She di
vided them up as best she could between their rooms and left a few in the living room. Sheâd let Olivia
and Oliver sort out how they wanted them divided later.
There was a play mat in the room too, a rug that
had roads and a small village on it. Oliver liked to drive his trucks along the roads and run his wooden
wolves through the forests. She moved that into his bedroom, knowing heâd get more use out of it.
With the room empty, Serena made her way to
the hospital for work. The moment she arrived, Adriana handed her a slip of paper. âWhatâs this?â she a
sked.
âA message
came through for you from the human world,â Adriana said, âThatâs unusual,â Serena said, âI donât think
âOh, this guy is a werewolf,â Adriana said âHe said youâd know who is was Serena looked at the name o
The only werewolf sheâd met out in the human world, and heâd
been a professor in medical school Serena had only had him for a few courses, but she had ieit a strong
connection to him because they were both wolves. âIâll have to return his call,â she said. She hadnât expe
âSerena, youâre blushing,â Adriana said.
âI am not,â Serena argued, folding up the paper and tucking it into her pocket. Adriana raised an eyebrow
âAre you sure? How well do you know this guy?â she teased. Serena rolled her eyes.
âHe was one of my professors in college,â Serena said. âThat is the extent of our relationship. I guess he
seems like something more to me,â Adriana said. Serena shook her head.
âOkay, Iâd appreciate it if you wouldnât spread those rumors aroundâ she told her friend
and boss. âThings with Logan are going really well, and I donât need him getting the wrong idea, especia
is the wrong idea!â âOkay, okay,â Adriana said dismissively. Serena grabbed her medical files and got to
