Chapter 31: Chapter 31~Time’s a’wastin’

Arabella’s POV~

This bitch! Thinking she can fight me!? Pfft! I don’t even need Amaris for this. I decide to play and torment her. I just feel bad for Trudy! And I have to tell her I’m the one who took her daughter away. That’s not going to go well! Shana jumps at me trying to catch my throat in her jaws…I punch her in the throat and grab behind her left ear, twisting I drop her to the ground and snap her spine. She’ll live. And her mom can take care of her for the rest of her life…or put her in a home…whichever… I glance up to see three wolves charging me..we shift and I catch the first one in the neck..ripping his throat out the second one I catch his skull in my maw and crush it …spinning on the third I swipe his leg out from under him and completely sever it. Damn! I turn and see Eros standing beside me and I lick his face. We both split and head back into the fighting.

The fighting is all but finished.. I feel such an ache in my heart.. we lost two! It’s heartbreaking! I glance around…searching for…Ah Ha! There he is…running like a fool. I take off for him…topped a fallen log and launched myself high in the air…landed right on top of him and his head crashed against a tree! Knocked him the fuck out! I latch onto his calf and drag him towards home. I dragged him straight to Sebastian and dropped him on the ground. Sebastian held up a large tee shirt and I shifted so I could pull it over my head. Sebastian leaned down and grabbed Byron’s damaged leg and he dragged him all the way to the jail. It was funny because he woke up about halfway there and called us every name in the book.. Good times!

We secured all prisoners and alerted the council so they could arrange trials. We were all seated around the dining hall table.. chef and the ladies were throwing a quick meal together for the starving throng. I was exhausted. Sebastian pulled me into his lap and I just wrapped around him. Brayden said “are all the antagonists accounted for?” And Sebastian said “Ezekiel is dead…Celia and Byron are in the cells..chained to the walls this time…about 60 rogues and mercenaries escaped but, at this point. I am fine with just letting them go! No money coming in..and they’ve nothing to fight for. I’m not sure about Shana, dad.. I didn’t see her after she attacked Arabella.” I mumbled “she’s in the infirmary…I broke her back” Kaiden said “Damn! Brutal Bella!” And Sebastian laughed…and Earl started laughing and says “Byron the Pussy and Brutal Bella! It’s a tale that will become legendary!” And Sebastian laughed harder! And I said “Piss off the lot of you!” Which only made them laugh harder! Dicks!

After getting some food in my stomach..I talked Sebastian into going to bed with me because I really needed sleep and didn’t want to be alone. We got a nice long shower. And it relaxed me so much I was asleep before my head hit the pillow.

My mom whispered “wakey wakey my lovely” I opened one eye and saw I was in my room in her realm… I said “Mooommmm! Why can’t you let me sleep? I just fought a war and I’m pregnant with twins. I need rest!” And she says “were you always this much of a whiner? I don’t remember you being a whiner! Where have I failed you?” And I opened my eye again and said “Seriously?? And why am I here anyway? And don’t say you missed me!” She giggled and says “Okay..I won’t say it…..but I missed you! I wanted to tell you how proud I am of you! And to tell you to stay vigilant! There will always be someone coming for the crown and I need you and Sebastian to ferret out the traitors before they can build defenses. I also want to let you know the new doctrine has been drafted and I want you to see to it it is taught in every school as common curriculum!”

And this couldn’t wait…why? I ask her. She said “Oh it could! I just wanted to see you! And also to bless my grandchildren! They will have gifts…they carry my bloodline and that of the Ultima! They will be the two strongest wolves the world has seen! And I couldn’t be prouder! I have petitioned Zeus for more time in earth’s realm. I will need to train my grandchild and that will require more than 30 minutes at a pop!” I rolled my eyes and said “Again..this couldn’t wait?” She says “fine, whiny ass! You’ll be well rested! I love you! Now go!”

And I wake up at home…in my own bed…alone…Again! Soooo frustrating. But may as well get up and head to the infirmary to check on our injured. I link Sebastian “couldn’t wait for me to wake?” And he comes back “Baby…you fought a war yesterday…and very well, I might add..and you are pregnant with twins. I thought you could use the sleep” and I replied “I don’t like waking up alone. I miss you!” He came back with an I love you and all was right with my world.

I entered the infirmary to see about 15 patients still recuperating. Including Shana… I stepped into her room and I see Trudy beside her bed. Andddd I feel like ass! I walked over to Trudy amd whispered “I am truly sorry. She attacked me…and I would have killed her..but I wasn’t able to cause you that kind of pain” She reached up and patted my hand and said “She committed treason. She knew the consequences…and while I am grateful you spared her life…I doubt she will be. We are wolves, child. We live in a brutal world and we live on loyalty…without it we are lost…and my daughter is lost.” I walked away with a heavy heart..

I heard a baby crying several doors down… I went to investigate because, well, I’m me…and I’m nosy. So I walked in the room..to hopefully help soothe the baby. And I see a woman in a bed…barely breathing. I linked Amy to get to the room. Now! I picked up the baby from the crib…she was soaked through. Amy walked in and I snapped “Explain!” She said “This woman is dying. Her mate was one of the warriors we lost. I don’t know what will happen with the baby.. we haven’t found any relatives. She’s barely 5 months old and our orphanage os already full.” I said “what? Is nothing being done about placement? Why is it full? You know what! Nevermind…I will make the orphanage my first project. What is this baby’s name?” She replied “I don’t know…but I’m sure it’s in pack records.” I said”okay..grab me a few bottles while I pack her some diapers…she’s coming with me. Link me if her mother improves…” Just then..the mother flatlined and I beat feet out of there!

I walked into the office and Brayden said “I thought we just found out you were pregnant’ you work fast!” I said “Ohhh you got jokes! Here!” And set the baby in his arms. I explained the situation about the baby and Cory said “She doesn’t have anyone?” I shook my head…and I saw him and Bray mind linking and I said “What?” Cory was holding the baby and said “Can we adopt her? She would be ours! And we will love her with everything we are!” I squeaked and said “ please? Sebastian..please??” And he laughed and said “I don’t see why not…Kaiden draw up the paperwork and I will sign off on it” and I said “ChopChop!! Times a’wastin’!!”
