Chapter 67
Anastasia always took on tasks handed to her by others, bringing documents to the printer.
Lauren, holding a cup of coffee, walked over to the printer after witnessing this.
âAnastasia, what is wrong with you, how you always accept tasks from others. They are obviously using youâ Lauren and Anastasia arrived at the company together, theyâre close. Seeing Anastasia being taken advantage of made her somewhat angry.
Anastasia smiled, âSo what? If I donât sweat it out in school, Iâll have to sweat it out in the real worldâ
Anastasia was cheerful and only had a high school diploma. Being a newbie with no experience, she naturally had to be humble and learn.
Everyone in the design department graduated from prestigious schools, and they all had some fame in the jewelry design industry
Lauren was left speechless, seemingly understanding the logic.
Youâre a designerâs assistant, these errands shouldnât be your dutyâ Lauren said, âHow about you go buy something, treat everyone to a coffee, and then buy some afternoon tea for later?â
While printing the materials, Anastasia smiled and said, âThereâs a time and place for everything. They wonât stop giving me work just because I treat them to afternoon teaâ
Lauren had tried this before, it might not work if she did it again. Plus, Anastasia didnât want to waste money.
Treating the design department to afternoon tea might strain her financially.
Of course, Anastasia wasnât oblivious to social norms. She knew they targeted her because of her education and ability
She wasnât on their level yet, they felt superior to her.
To change this, she needed to prove her capabilities and shatter their superiority complex.
She had just arrived and hadnât found the right opportunity yet, but she was determined to change the status quo when the opportunity arises.
Lauren asked, âSo you plan on doing these tasks forever?â
Anastasia laughed, âWhen I donât have the ability to refuse, I have to lie low. Donât worry about me, these little tasks arenât tiring. I do more at home.â
Refusing now might alienate her from everyone else, making her situation even more difficult
Lauren seemed to understand, âI think theyâre just jealous because youâre pretty. Your husband lets you work despite your beauty, isnât he worried about the attention youâll get?â
Anastasia thought back to what Herman said in the morning and suddenly understood something. She murmured, âI seeâ
Lauren asked, âWhat?â
âNothing.â Anastasia smiled, âTâll go deliver these documents first.â
Lauren didnât disturb Anastasiaâs work, she went back to her seat, sipping her coffee and flipping through a fashion magazine.
After delivering the documents, Anastasia headed to the restroom. As she approached, she heard a woman crying from inside.
Anastasia moved closer and was stunned at the sight.
A pregnant woman was sitting on the floor, her water had broken, she was about to give birth.
The pregnant woman was probably scared by the sudden physical reaction, she sounded panicked, âHelp me, call an ambulance quickly, my baby is
coming.â
Anastasia quickly composed herself and called an ambulance. She reassured the woman, âDonât be scared, breathe deeply, everything will be fine.â
After the call, Anastasia saw the womanâs water kept flowing, she felt somewhat helpless.
The pregnant woman clung to Anastasiaâs clothes, asking fearfully, âWill my baby be okay? Iâm not due yet, I still have a month to goâ
âEverything will be fine, trust me. Although Anastasia wasnât sure, she knew she had to be the womanâs emotional support. She couldnât let the woman. panic, she had to calm her down.
Anastasia looked at the womanâs ID badge and saw that she was also a company employee, she was Alessia, the manager of the sales department next
door.
Alessia was breathing heavily, her fear was palpable. She held onto Anastasiaâs hand, her body weak, her voice quivering, âIâve waited ten years for this child, I wouldnât be able to handle it if something goes wrongâ
âItâs okay, itâs okayâ Anastasia comforted her, âBreathe with me, relax, lie on my legs and donât move, this will reduce the loss of waterâ
The commotion in the restroom quickly attracted others, several colleagues came to check.
Seeing a woman about to give birth, everyone offered help.
Soon, the ambulance arrived, people worked together to get Alessia onto the ambulance.
Alessia held onto Anastasiaâs hand tightly. âCome with me, Iâm scared.â
At this point, Anastasia had become Alessiaâs emotional pillar.
âOkay, Iâll go with you.â
Anastasia then accompanied Alessia to the hospital, running around to help.
Alessiaâs husband quickly arrived and stayed by her side
Alessia held her husbandâs hand tight, âIf something goes wrong, save the baby.â
Watching this scene, Anastasia felt a strong sense of familiarity, as if she had been in Alessiaâs shoes, helpless and confused, clutching onto her motherâs hand and saying something similar.
