Chapter 409
When a husband cheats, itâs the cruelest thing for the wife to find out from someone else.
Hermanâs words made him feel ashamed. âIâll explain everything to your mom,â he promised. The secret he had been carrying for decades weighed heavily on his heart, like a boulder. He felt breathless under its weight.
Herman did not say anything else. He walked towards the elevator and left Eagle Corporation.
Downstairs, he ran into Katelyn, who had been following Feiman. He calmly intercepted her. âMom, what are you doing here?â
âI followed your father,â Katelyn replied. âHerman, your father said he was going to meet his friend, but he drove all this way. There must be something going on. Did you see your father?â
Instead of answering, Herman asked, âMom, did you drive here?â
Katelyn looked puzzled. âNo, I didnât.â
âIâve had a bit of bourbon, so I canât drive. Can you drive us out of here, mom?â Herman handed the car keys to Katelyn and walked straight towards the car.
Katelyn held the keys, grumbling, âHerman, why are you drinking in the middle of the day? And what were you doing here?â
âJust dealing with some stuff.â Herman got into the car. âMom, letâs head back to the hospital. Pattie will start fussing if she doesnât see me.â
Katelyn didnât think too much about it. The thought of Pattie waiting at the hospital made her forget why she had followed Feiman in the first place. As she got into the driverâs seat, Katelyn asked, âHerman, did you find out about Pattie being Anaâs daughter? How did it suddenly turn out that Ana is her biological mother? Your grandma found out and caused a scene at the hospital.â
Herman frowned slightly. âIs Anastasia okay?â
âYour grandma is just tough with her words. She wouldnât actually hurt Ana.â Katelyn started the car. âHerman, what do you think about all this? Itâs all happening so fast. I can barely keep up.â
Herman replied, âWhether Pattie is Anaâs daughter or not, it doesnât change anything. Ana and I are Pattieâs legal guardians.â
âYou are quite open-minded, but itâs not the same. Pattie is Anaâs daughter with another man. To put it bluntly, youâre raising someone elseâs child.â Katelyn said, âItâs all so complicated. Iâm confused.â

Chapter 409
As a mother, Katelyn naturally wished her son to marry a woman with a clean past, but now it seemed pointless to discuss it. Anastasia was carrying a baby from the Salstrom family. How could they possibly separate now?
Besides, Katelyn was satisfied with Anastasia as her daughter-in-law, and she loved Pattie. However, the switch from adopted daughter to biological daughter made her feel a
thorn in her throat.
Herman asked, âMom, do you like Pattie?â
Without hesitation, Katelyn answered, âI do. Sheâs adorable, clever and polite. Sheâs a joy to be around. The best part is when she calls me Grandma. It warms my heart. Itâs as sweet as eating candy.â
Herman followed up with another question, âAnd what about Anastasia? Are you satisfied with her as your daughter-in-law?â
Katelyn thought for a moment before answering, âI suppose I am. If it werenât for this situation, I would be even more satisfied.â
âYou like Pattie and youâre satisfied with Anastasia. Thatâs all that matters.â Herman said, âEveryone has a past. A few years ago, I was involved with another woman.â
Katelyn was taken aback by his confession. She abruptly hit the brakes, causing both of them to jerk forward, before being pulled back by their seatbelts. With a shocked expression, Katelyn asked, âSon, are you serious? Youâve been with another woman
before?â
Herman said, âMom, is it so surprising? Iâm a normal man.â
âIf you were talking about your brother, then yes, that would be normal. But for you, thatâs definitely not normal.â Katelyn knew her son well. She immediately became curious. âWho was she? How come I never heard about her? Does Ana know? Women can be very sensitive about their menâs past relationships. Ana is pregnant. You better not upset her.â
Just moments ago, Katelyn had some mixed feelings towards Anastasia, but now she was fiercely protective.
Herman chuckled. âSee, mom, youâre still siding with your daughter-in-law.â
