Chapter 388
Upon hearing that Salma was bringing Pattie along, a pang of discomfort arose in Laynaâs chest, but this time, she held her tongue.
Pattie emerged from her room, and Salma put on her shoes, heading downstairs with the two children.
Donned in a blue dress with a hair accessory, Pattie looked absolutely stunning. As they walked through the neighborhood, she received heaps of compliments.
Pattieâs skin was rosy and delicate, and she looked like a little fairy in her beautiful outfit. Anyone who saw her would call her pretty, wishing they had such a beautiful daughter.
Hearing all the adults praising Pattie, Layna felt a surge of jealousy, as no one was complimenting her. Layna was taller and had some pimples. When compared with Pattie, the difference was even more apparent.
Salma led the two children to a supermarket outside the neighborhood, oblivious to the fact that Penny was watching them from a distance.
Penny was always keeping an eye on Pattie. With Anastasia moving the next day, today was their last chance. Penny and Leo had planned to kidnap Pattie, hoping that their son might come back if they did so.
Penny watched Pattie, who looked like a little princess. Her outfit alone was worth thousands of dollars. When Pattie used to be with her, she was skinny and not nearly as attractive. Now, she seemed like a completely different person.
At the supermarket.
Salma allowed Layna and Pattie to choose toys. Whatever they liked, they could take.
Layna chose the most expensive, biggest toys. Pattie, however, didnât take anything. When asked by Salma, she replied, âI already have lots of toys.â
Pattie felt that she had enough toys, so she didnât need any more.
Salma then said, âWell, Pattie, you can take whatever you want to eat.â
After much deliberation, Pattie bought a lollipop.
Layna remarked, âChildish. Youâre so old but still eat lollipops.â
Layna, unapologetically, grabbed a shopping cart and filled it with snacks and toys.

While the children were picking out things in the supermarket, Penny was watching from

Anastasia woke up from a nap and realized it was quiet at home. She assumed Salma must have taken the kids out. She took a sip of water and began working on design drafts.
Even though Anastasia didnât go to the office, she was still working on drafts at home. She felt like she would get moldy if she didnât do anything.
After working for a while, Monica called, âHey Ana, what are you up to? Itâs Saturday, isnât your husband at home?â
Anastasia laughed. Tm drafting some designs. Herman had something to do, so heâs out. Heâs such a busybody. He never gets a break.â
âYour husband earns money by the minute, of course, he would be busy,â Monica said. âI had some free time, so I thought Iâd call you to chat in case youâre getting bored and moldy
Anastasia rubbed her temples. âWith two kids at home, I can hardly find a quiet moment. How coul I get bored?â
âTwo kids?â Monica asked. âWhere did the second kid come from?â

âLayna showed up all by herself in the middle of the night,â Anastasia said. âFirst thing in the morning, she and Pattie started fighting over toys. It gave me a headache. I guess have to be prepared to be the referee for their fights in the future.â
â!
âSo, Layna is staying with you now? That hasnât even been confirmed yet,â Monica said. âWhat if thereâs a mix-up?â
âI couldnât just send her away when she showed up in the middle of the night,â Anastasia said. âLet her stay for now, and we can decide once we get the results.â
Monica was curious. âWhat was your husbandâs reaction?â
â
Thinking about Hermanâs reaction, Anastasia felt a bit guilty. âMonica, Iâm quite torn now. Taking the child in would be unfair to Herman, but not doing so would be unfair to the child. I feel like I canât make the right decision.â
7 understand,â Monica said. âDonât think too much about it, just take care of yourself.â
âAlrightâ
In the middle of their conversation, Salma returned with the two children.
Anastasia said, âMy mom and the kids are back. Iâd better go check on them. Talk to you later
After hanging up, Anastasia went to the living room.
Salma was carrying lots of bags, and Layna was helping, too. Pattie didnât have anything in her hands. Actually, Pattie had been helping Salma carry bags all the way home, but
