Chapter 352
Anastasia had already done her part; now it was Hermanâs turn.
âHonestly, Granny.â Herman began, âIf it werenât for your grandson here doing his charming magic, Anastasia would have divorced me hundreds of times by now. So, itâs not that she canât live without me, but that I canât let her go.â.
âYou chased her?â Granny Anita was taken aback. Her precious grandson, pursuing another woman? âThe world is upside down.â She muttered.
Anastasia squeezed Hermanâs hand and announced, âIâve said what I needed to say. Goodnight, everyone. Herman and I will be leaving now.â
Granny Anita banged her cane on the floor, âWhere do you think youâre taking my grandson, young lady? Herman, youâre staying right here tonight!â
A smirk played on Anastasiaâs lips, âAre you sure, Granny? If Herman stays, I stay. Weâre a married couple, he has duties to fulfill. Itâs the law, you know And if I stay, well, it might affect your mood.â
Even Herman was taken aback by Anastasiaâs blunt declaration. Watching Granny Anita fume, Herman couldnât help but smile, a hint of adoration in his eyes.
Even Katelyn had to stifle a laugh. Feiman coughed lightly. This daughter-in-law of his was fearless. It looked like his sonâs power dynamics at home were quite precarious.
Flynn was also taken by surprise. Who would have thought that the always gentle Anastasia could say something so daring?
Granny Anita was livid. After a moment, she spat, âShameless.â
âThank you for the compliment, Granny.â Anastasia responded cheerfully, âIf thereâs nothing else, weâll be on our way!â
With that, she led Herman out, leaving a fuming Granny Anita behind. At this point, the best course of action was to support his wife. Anastasia had done so much for him. He had to reciprocate. His attitude would determine Anastasiaâs standing in the Salstrom family. If he didnât belittle Anastasia, no one else would dare to.
Granny Anita was left stomping her foot in frustration, âTheyâre running the show now, acting like Iâm an old fool.â
Feiman and Katelyn shared a knowing glance, but said nothing. What their son and daughter-in-law did behind closed doors was none of their business.
Flynn quickly tried to placate Granny Anita, âHow about a game of cards tomorrow? I can invite some friends over.â
An avid player for over fifty years, Granny Anita could never resist an invitation to the card table. Flynn was able to calm her down and lead her away, leaving Katelyn to sigh
in relief.
Feiman frowned, âSheâs over eighty. She canât take this kind of stress. We need to be more considerate of her.â
Katelyn scoffed, âSheâs as spry as ever. Besides, after all these years, nothing I do seems to please her anyway. At least Anastasia can handle her. Itâs like the saying goes, âevery dog has its day!â
Feiman could only sigh in response. Being a Salstrom man was no easy task.
âWhether itâs mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, or grandmother and grandson, itâs always the men that are the problem. If you were half as assertive as Herman, would your mother have been able to bully me all these years?â Katelyn said.
Feiman felt wronged, âHow did this become my fault? Iâm just a semi-retired executive. All I want is to enjoy my life.â
Katelyn shot him a cold glance, âAll you want to do is sleep. Did you ever stop to think about how Granny found out about Anastasiaâs infertility? Or who sent that anonymous package to our house? Someoneâs trying to create trouble here, and I have a feeling theyâre targeting Herman.â
Feiman shifted uncomfortably. His intuition told him that this had something to do with a certain someone.
