Chapter 336
Herman didnât argue with Granny Anita, instead he said in a deep voice, âFlynn, you stay with Granny for a bit. Jarod from the WOW Corporation is here. Iâll go and greet him.â
Flynn grinned, âYou go do your thing. I got Granny.â
Herman found an excuse to leave, and Flynn cheerfully coaxed Granny Anita, âGranny, are you hungry? I can grab you some cookies.â
Granny Anita looked displeased, âThe doctor said I canât have sweets, and Iâm not hungry. You go do your thing. You donât need to stay with me. Iâve just arrived and Herman is already making excuses to leave me. Now that Iâm old, nobody listens to me anymore. You donât need to stick around.â
âGranny, are you being a little stubborn again?â Flynn held Granny Anitaâs arm, âToday is the companyâs anniversary, Herman is really busy. How about I just call Dad over to keep you company?â
Flynn dared not call Katelyn over. The relationship between Granny Anita and Katelyn was a well-known issue within the Salstrom family. To be precise, it was Granny Anita who didnât like her daughter-in-law.
When Katelyn gave birth to Herman, they had a falling-out during the postpartum period. This escalated the conflict and Katelyn almost divorced Feiman.
Granny Anita didnât like Katelyn, but she adored her two grandsons from the bottom of her heart. It was why Herman and Flynn both respected Granny Anita so much.
âI donât want to see your Dad. He just annoys me.â Granny Anita said, âWhy do you think Iâve been living out in the countryside these years? Itâs because I didnât want to see your Dad.â
The truth was, Granny Anita didnât want to see Katelyn, not Feiman. Her health had been declining in recent years, so she decided to retire to the countryside with her maid. Flynn understood this very well.
âGranny, then Iâll just keep you company.â Flynn complimented, âGranny, itâs been a while since I saw you last time, and youâre looking more beautiful than ever.â
Granny Anita, pleased by the flattery, laughed and playfully smacked Flynnâs hand, âYou sweet talker, youâre the only one who knows how to make me happy. If you could find me a nice granddaughter-in-law, I would be even happier.â
Flynn joked, âIâll find you a bunch of great granddaughters-in-law in the future. All of them will take care of you.â
âYouâre thinking of marrying a bunch, you cheeky boy.â Granny Anita laughed heartily, then glanced at the girls at the party, âThere are quite a few nice girls here tonight. Flynn, help Herman pick one.â
Flynn scratched his head, âGranny, Herman is already married, whatâs there to pick? Youâre getting confused again, didnât I just tell you? My sister-in-law is in the lounge, and youâll see her in
a bit.â
Granny Anita glared at Flynn, âMarriage is serious business, it involves formal proposals and wedding ceremonies. Your brotherâs marriage doesnât count. In the old days, it would be called
a concubine.â
In short, Granny Anita didnât approve.
Flynn laughed, âGranny, times have changed. Once youâre legally married, thatâs it. Herman and my sister-in-law have their marriage license.â
âI said it doesnât count, so it doesnât.â Granny Anitaâs face darkened instantly, Entering the Salstrom family is a big thing. Without my approval, it doesnât count.â
Flynn sighed; he knew how stubborn Granny Anita could be. Otherwise, she wouldnât still be at odds with Katelyn after more than twenty years. He just realized that Granny Anita wasnât confused earlier. She was pretending to be. âGranny, youâre going to have a hard time persuading Herman this time.â Flynn said, âGranny, my sister-in-law is actually quite nice.â
âYou go do your thing. I donât need your company anymore.â Granny Anita was unhappy and waved Flynn away.
Flynn couldnât please Granny Anita, so he went to attend to the guests. The moment Flynn walked away, Julie approached, âGranny, do you remember me? Iâm Julie.â Granny Anita took a good look, then she remembered, âYouâre Devinâs daughter? Julie?â
âYes, Granny, Iâm glad you remember me.â Julie grinned and sat down next to Granny Anita, âGranny, your memory is still so sharp. Youâre still so young at heart.â Granny Anita examined Julie carefully, then glanced at Julieâs bottom, a satisfied look in her eyes, âNice hips, good for childbirth. Julie, do you have a boyfriend?â
