Chapter 328
Having sent Julie off, Anastasia immersed herself in work. After a busy morning, she finally had a moment to call Monica over lunchtime.
Monica had been off the grid recently, not having been in touch for a few days, and Anastasia was concerned.
Anastasia dialed Monicaâs number, and after a substantial wait, Monica finally picked up.
âMonica, where have you been? Youâve gone MIA? Havenât heard from you in days.â
âYeah, Iâve been in Los Angeles with my boyfriend for a few days, heading back tomorrow.â Monicaâs voice was languid.
Sensing something amiss, Anastasia asked, âStill in bed?â
Monica, on the other end in her Los Angeles hotel, shook her head to wake up a bit. had too much to drink last night, and Iâm really tired. Werenât you in Willowbrook? Are you back?â
âCame back yesterdayâ Anastasia said. âI was actually thinking of asking you to lunch, but I guess thatâs off the table now.â
âKeep that in mind for when I return, Monica couldnât miss the chance to have Anastasia treat her to a meal, reminding her over the phone. âDonât forget, okay?â
âAlright, Iâll remember,â Anastasia laughed. âSpeaking of which, how much did Herman bribe you to keep his secret, even from your best friend?â
Monica feigned ignorance. âWhat are you talking about?â
âStop playing dumb. Herman confessed everything already. I had dinner at Salstrom Manor last night.â
Realizing her secret was out, Monica laughed it off. âAna, I swear it was for your own good. I didnât want you to freak out and file for divorce. Who knew if Herman was serious or just messing around? But now that I see you two are doing well, I feel relieved.â
Pretending to be annoyed, Anastasia retorted, âWeâre best friends, and you didnât back me up.â
âJust this once, never again,â Monica replied. âAna, youâre incredibly lucky. You managed to snag the CEO of Elysian Technologies. My guy, even if I smack him around, he wonât confess that heâs a rich kid.â
Speaking of Trevor, Anastasia felt the need to warn Monica. âYou need to stop spending money on him. Itâs not right for a man to live off a woman. Donât let him sweet talk you into losing yourself.â
Ever since Monica started dating Trevor, she must have spent at least a couple of million on him. Anastasia was worried Monica was being taken for a ride.
âAlright, alright,â Monica chuckled. âIâm too smart to be conned. Heâs here now, gotta go.â
As Monica hung up the phone, she heard the doorbell ring. It must be Trevor from next door,
Monica opened the door, and her boyfriend Trevor stood at the entrance holding breakfast with a beaming smile on his face. âBaby, I brought you breakfast.â
âHoney, youâre the best.â Monica planted a kiss on his cheek as she took the breakfast.
They had been in Los Angeles for a few days, each staying in their own rooms. Trevor tried to stay the night multiple times, but Monica had always refused. Monica was principled. She wouldnât cross certain lines if they werenât legally married.
Trevorâs gaze swept over Monica. She had just woken up, wearing loose-fitting clothes, her short hair tousled, exuding a captivating charm. He stepped forward and wrapped his arms around Monica. âBaby, weâve been together for so long, and I feel like you donât love me at all.â Trevor was younger than Monica, with a fresh and sunny handsome face. He was sweet and knew how to act cute.
Monica chuckled and patted Trevorâs face. âHow could that be? I buy you anything you want. I adore you.â
âI love you,â Trevor looked at Monica with a passionate gaze. âI want to be your man
Monica loved when Trevor talked to her like that; he was so understanding and clingy.
Monica responded, âYouâre not of legal marriage age yet, wait a couple more years.â

Trevor didnât care about what Monica said. He started to touch her, kissing her. âBabe, give in to me, I want you.â
